Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 2502s

Maikel, nfsw55 and Denis head into turn 1, and while Maikel is ahead of the other 2, nfsw and Denis are alongside.
Nfsw\\\\\\\'s line is in the middle of the track and he keeps driving parallel to the edge of the track.
Denis\\\\\\\' is all the way on the inside and slowly starts moving to the left.
At the moment of the contact nfsw line was straight and Denis was the one change lanes.
The victim of this incident was Maikel, luckily for him he was able to recover from it and win.

I don\\\\\\\'t see either nfsw or Denis do anything blatantly wrong, but with apps like HeliCorsa, you should have more awareness of what is alongside you. Because Denis was the one slightly behind and changing his lines, I feel this report is more directed towards him, but because the victim (Maikel) recovered and because I didn\\\\\\\'t see a dangerous manoevre, this will be a warning without penalty.

AFTER APPEAL: Both drivers change line shortly after the start which results in an avoidavble incident.
Both drivers cautioned and advised to watch the direction changes shortly after the start. Race incident without penalties.

Server replay time: 2613s

Heading into turn 1 of lap 2, Baikal takes a steady and safe braking point for turn 1.
Nfsw is quite far behind Baikal and brakes much later which results in rear ending Baikal hard, punting him off and ruining his race.
Baikal has every right to take it steady on the first few laps when tyres are cold and no optimum. It\'s up to the driver behind to adept to it.
Especialyl in the early laps, a more cautious apprach is recommended.

  • nfsw55penalty — Rear end shunt — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 3960s

Mark Jonzo has a very late and ambitious overtaking manoevre into the doube right handers before teh back straight.
His car was never more alongside than his front bumper and to overtake at that corner is taking a lot of risk.

Just wanted to step in and say a few things on the whole "not reporting incidents in public" thing. Far from me to tell you how to do your job so don't take it the wrong way, I'm just giving a piece of advice.

Quote
I'm guessing MJ doesn't like handing out penalties since it can scare away some racers though its mostly newcomers who quit.

That's a debatable way of approaching the issue. I've been a mod/admin at both RRL, which was a small community like yours, with 20-ish people showing up at the races, and ACRL, which has a huge user base (last Sunday we had over 90 people racing in GT3 split in 3 different servers in EU, and 50 more in NA). If I've learnt anything from my experience, it's that smaller communities like this better focus on the quality of the drivers rather than the quantity. If penalising a driver for having done something wrong will make him quit the community, trust me, you don't need him and you'll be better off without him.

I've joined the Porsche GT3 Cup you're running just because I know you have clean drivers who always respect each other. That's the only reason why I showed up to these (not all, due to my bad schedule!) races. If you start accepting wreckers and allowing them to ruin your races because you don't want to lose drivers, you'll end up doing the opposite and scaring away drivers who'd rather drive with less people but in a clean race.

While keeping polite tones and not offending each other (i.e. "I really think the move you made was unsportsmanlike" instead of "you very naughty person") it's only beneficial to discuss incidents in public. You'll reinforce the focus on driving cleanly, those drivers who made genuine mistakes will be reprimanded and they'll learn from their mistakes, while those drivers who obviously won't fit with your racing principles will be more easily spotted so everyone will know which guys to avoid on track (I knew nsfw is a very aggressive driver, so I just let him pass and waited for him to crash into someone, which did happen).

This community strikes me as mature and intelligent, I'm sure you'll be able to discuss incidents without throwing insults at each other. You should see the cancer in the comments section at ACRL.

Great post Luca, thank you for sharing and being honest. This was only your second post as well. You should post more often Smiley

Don't forget guys, only reported incidents will be reviewed, but if other incidents are found but not reported, they can get a verdict, there just won't be a penalty applied. So if you feel something was unfair, please do make a report. Both parties will receive a mail and I will read both sides of the story. You can always complain about the penalty and it may get reviewed by somebody else.

PS: I will wait till Saturday with the VIR race, to give people bit more time to file reports or reply to reports.

I downloaded somebody's replay, but would be nice to find the replay in the same spot in the future so I don't have to read through a whole thread to find the replay  Smiley.

Quite glad I've been too busy to get on here all day  Sad Suddenly everyone is more focused on contacts than the great racing  Roll Eyes Doesn't make for enthusiastic reading.
Still, there is some constructive criticism amongst it and thanks go to Jeff for volunteering to officiate  Smiley I simply haven't got the time at the moment nor ever volunteered to be a judge of contacts, I just create the championships and hope to get healthy grids of clean racers.

Penalties are judged. You can see the result at the top of the thread.

If you disagree, feel free to appeal Smiley.

Feels harsh for my first contact of the season and after following so closely for numerous laps, but my move didn't work and cost us both places, so will have to take it on the chin  Sad

Thanks for viewing them before the next round Jeff. Did you look at the Hockenheim incident too?

IMO it will be more polite if verdicts will put under spoiler  Smiley
