Onwards....or should that be backwards to Watkins Glen??

The 66 Can Ams are a handful wherever they race so The Glen in reverse should present a few challenges, with loads of power and not quite enough grip if you have a heavy right foot.
In this direction T1 comes up very quickly and is the slowest corner on the track, so please exercise extreme caution at the start and hopefully save an old moderator any extra work.
Another place to be aware of is the pit entry if you are making a SnG. Drivers should watch for cars going slowly at a point where those still racing will probably have their foot hard on the gas. Fortunately the pit exit is much better when we run in reverse direction.

I'll run the Genie again here as it's slowest. Although curious what a faster car can do Smiley
Reckon this one could be as much fun as Mosport!

Strange stuff about 1/2 way thru (as I was getting lapped): screen freezes (usually fatal if more than 1/2 second but these came back after 2 or 3), people I'd been beside now 1/2 way down the straight. Sorry if anyone was affected. No idea what was going on.

Aside from that, my race sucked. Thanks to all involved.

Yes you were suddenly invisible  when I passed you, but I had no problem...

Great race for me, but just one mis-shifting got me behind the armco and a nice lead was gone  Roll Eyes

Given my troubles with getting to grips with the Can-Am motors this series I thought I'd go hell-for-leather and hustle the Lola 427 around the Glen  Grin. Did struggle initially with the setup but managed to make the car stable enough by the end of the qualifying session.

At the start, I was lucky to keep 3rd place after a sluggish launch in my two-geared mobile. It was then a case of attempting to catch Tim & Axel, although they did have the edge of pace in the first quarter of the race. Eventually Tim must have made a slight error as I caught him rapidly, and a few laps later the grunt of the Ford motor allowed me to slingshot into 2nd place in an attempt to catch Axel for the lead. Although, that simply didn't happen  Wink, we were pretty well matched pace-wise.

Eventually I fudged it at the Loop and spin the car, allowing Tim the re-take 2nd place. Axel then missed a gear which pitched him off the road which promoted me and Tim to dice for the lead. The power advantage allowed me past once again for the lead and it was then a case of bringing the car home.

Nice to grab a win with the Can Ams. Not sure I've fully unlocked the method of driving these things quickly and consistently. Every time I tried to push the car simply fought back  Shocked. Think Tim would have likely had the edge if he went for a car with a higher top speed  Smiley and Axel too if his shifter wasn't playing silly-beggars.

Congrats to all finishers. Onto the madness of Mexico.

That was good fun - another fun reverse circuit  Grin

I wanted something slow so took the Genie again - I have to say I'm surprised anyone plumped for the 427 here as it's a lardy beast, but I guess that out of the 3 CanAm races it's the one best suited to it.
One of the mid-spec 4 speed cars would probably be quicker though I recon, as a result of the weight disadvantage (which is the only reason I could cling on for as long as I did)

I'm not sure yet where I went wrong but the Genie cooked both right hand tires at around the 1/4, 1/3rd point and my times dropped as a result.
No way back from there as to cool down meant going about 1.5 seconds a lap slower and would only give me a yield for about 3 laps of pressing on so I just stuck with it and fought the car around hoping for an error up front.
Axel was kind enough to oblige (bad luck mate) but Sam didn't want to play ball and it ended up being me that span off on the start finish line...

Happy to take 2nd given the pace up front - I should have been 3rd tops.
Congrats to all the finishers, this was quite a technical track in reverse, and the Loop was still deadly Shocked
