SEASON 31 Professionals Trophy (65) : Round 6  BRIDGEHAMPTON
Bridgehampton was a race track located near Sag Harbor, New York, United States. The circuit opened in 1957, following a series of road races held from 1949 until 1953. It was one of the first permanent road racing venues in the United States, opening after Thompson Speedway, two years after Road America, the year after Watkins Glen International, and the same year as Lime Rock Park and Laguna Seca Raceway. In its early years, Bridgehampton was host to major international series, including the World Sportscar Championship, Can-Am, and NASCAR Grand National. By the early 1970s, the track was used mostly for amateur events, and closed permanently in 1998.

34.9 is impressive pace. My only hope was to not go off and promptly I went off, and spun a few more times for good measure Smiley Tricky lines here! Mini-nurburgring..

No mph.. servers/database? Servers could go in vroc, but it might be possible to join with the wrong mod laugh

No mph.. servers/database?

The SROU import needs 2 files export.html + GPLRA_complete.txt.
As the server refused to save the html I took the one of my racing PC - but it is in german with kph... so not accepted by SROU  Roll Eyes

Yes,  I was surprised how good my car was on this horrible track. A smooth line with less shifts did the trick. Wink

A difficult circuit to really attack, where a wheel off the tarmac is grabbed by the sand.

Grats to those who got to the end and to the podium guys who were setting some very fast times. Lack of preparation for this race meant that I just joined the server and grabbed an old Brands Hatch setup for the Honda.

Not sure if it was the setup, but the usually very stable and controllable car was unbelievably twitchy. The car seemed to be pulled around by every bump in the track service, and some hastily applied changes in quali only marginally improved things.
The plan was to keep it smooth and get to the finish, but a half spin on the final corner when a sudden twitch threw the car sideways allowed 2 cars to inflict some extra damage to the handling. I trust that those drivers were OK and able to get to the flag. What had been a difficult car was now bl**dy impossible and it would snap to oversteer mid corner without warning.

It looked like Roo was having an even worse time than I was because although he was behind me,he never caught up despite my multiple offs. I was hoping to at least get to 50% distance and claim a few points, but even that looked unlikely at the beginning, but I soldiered on and just as I was thinking that I might even see the flag...................screen freeze with about 5 laps to go. Almost a relief after a long struggle  Roll Eyes

What a hard race. About half way I realised that I was about 1 gallon of fuel short for the race distance, so slowed to let Cookie overtake me on last lap..only to find out that no one was still running behind me.

Did some people miss the start? I went into T1 3rd despite having overtaken no one, and I managed to keep 3rd for a long time, presumably cos of incidents, can't have been on pace. This track is hard for braking and I soon found that my left foot still can't handle the pressure. By half way I was in pain and that led to various incidents that pushed me down behind Iestyn and Dean, who arguably should never have been behind me anyway. Still managed a fastest lap near the end, albeit it on vapours of gas - I agree with Cookie keeping it smooth and fewer gear changes seems to work well. Could barely walk after the race - at least it looks like the next race at Jehonville has only 3 braking areas :-) Mosport in the 67s might be a different story...
