Season 31 Works Trophy – Round 8 –  Monza

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1967 season, the UKGPL season will take place on 10 of the 11 original circuits. This round will be held at the legendary and well known Monza circuit. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. The circuit's biggest event is the Formula One Italian Grand Prix. With the exception of 1980, the race has been hosted there since the series's inception.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 28-05-2017
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Papyrus Original
Race length = 33 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

Replays Available here or there.

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Results are up. Replay is there while UKGPL3 appears to be offline.

My race ended in the Parabolica barriers after the Brab took me sideways on power one time too many.

Thanks Jethro. Smiley

Racesetup was a bit of an unknown and had to get used to it, and lost a lot of spots the first laps making little mistakes. Began to doubt if I had loaded the setup I wanted to use. But got into a rhythm and climbed back up the order, until I got the monitor sleep problem (had forgotten to load JoyToKey), damaged the car and fell back. The car wanted to turn right better, but towards losing the rear entering. Also started to overheat LR tire. Caught the armco at Curva Grande as well losing more time but it seemed to bring the balance a bit more to the neutral side...

Through the race I had fights with Bob, Clive, Dean, Doni and Tim, which was fun. Noticed Dean and Doni lost it in the mirrors so I feared lag/contact, but gladly kept it clean. Closed in on Clive late race, when he made some little mistakes, but he just held on for a podium, well done mate!  Cool

Grats to Iestyn, great race noticing race history graph. First patient behind Tris and a nice streak of fast laps after passing him. Good to see Smiley Also great pace by Tris in the BT24, especially early on!

Thanks all for racing, good fun! Smiley

I compromised my race early on with a spin at Parabolica but a few people joined me later in the race. 3 spins in all sealed my last position. Had fun laps with with Jethro, Tim & Andreas but was nowhere near the overall pace of you guys today. My ferrari was nice to drive but I wanted to finish & not to put it in the barriers so I was not looking for those extra tenths/sec of lap time.

Grats podium, all finishers & thanks to the admins as usual Smiley

That was a rubbish race from a points perspective, as I made an unforced error at Parabolica to allow Dean and Doni past only a few laps after gaining 3rd and starting to generate a gap - I then cemented my failure with a lock up into Para (again!) while battling with Dean to re-claim 3rd a few laps later.

From a racing point of view it was brilliant though, I started practice at 8 o clock with absolutely no setup and nothing from a similar fast circuit to work from.
Given that I was struggling to get under 1:30 with the initial setup I was happy with the 1:28.xx that put me in 6th for the start, especially given how close the times around me were.
I definitely think there is more time in the Ferrari with some further tweeks, Although the question then is one of racability.
My 2nd off in the race while battling Dean was almost certainly caused by my decidedly one sided setup, so I would need something that reduced the requirement for passing under braking..

It felt great being in that massive train for the early laps, looks great on the replay too as there were no shunts I could see angel
I had some great battles with Robert early on before passing him, and also managed to luck into a few spots due to the misfortune of others.
After my trip to the beach I found myself in a great 3 way battle with Dean and Doni, Clive also joined the fun but managed to escape without slowing the field too much (I was hoping he would drop the entire group closer to me while fighting through it!).
Eventually Robert also got into the action again.
It was a big shame when Doni dropped out, at first I thought he had an accident because he vanished so quickly - A shame about the engine blowing as his Eagle was making it very hard to stay in front when ever I got past...

Well done to Iestyn and Tristian,and especially to Clive for an epic come back drive!
Well done to all finishers also  Smiley

I notice lowering attendenance at the last 3 races. I guess nearing end of season some people may feel they have lost the chance to fight for championship position - never a consideration for me :-)

The Ring and Monza coincided with UK bank holiday weekends which is why I couldn't be there for both - I realise that we have entrants from all over the place, but is there any chance of avoiding BH weekends?

A crap race for me but I managed a pb in the Eagle.  I took an old setup and changed the diff.  It was fast over one lap but in the race tricky on the brakes.  After running 3rd for the first few laps I found myself at the back.  I chased down Roo and Andreas then made a mistake.  Repeated that a few times then finally ripped a wheel off.  Serves me right tho, didn't spend any time preparing!

Cheers, Bob.
