Season 31 Privateers Trophy - Round 08 - Monza

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1967 season, the UKGPL season will take place on 10 of the 11 original circuits. This round will be held at the legendary and well known Monza circuit. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. The circuit's biggest event is the Formula One Italian Grand Prix. With the exception of 1980, the race has been hosted there since the series's inception.

Note the Privateers division is run on Intermediate damage settings. Drivers are permitted 1 Shift R followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within 2 laps. Failure to make a stop will result in a 30 second time penalty. If you require a stop & go on the final lap & are unable to complete a time penalty of 15 secs is added.

This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Grats John and Fulvio, with the same cars we would have had a closer fight...

How is it possible to throw away a car on a straight at Monza? Even worse, how is it possible to lose it twice on the same straight in the same place?

I knew before qualification started that I'd be the only Cooper in the field. No one but a masochist drives a Cooper at Monza. But I had committed at the start of the season to drive the old thing all year, and so as usual I qualified in the back of the pack. Not until about L20, when I was about to be lapped by Axel and John as we came out of the second Lesmos, had I made even the slightest little mistake. But I must have been spending more time looking at them in my mirrors than I spent looking at the road ahead for before long I was in the trees on the right and losing quite a bit of speed, possibly because by then my car had but just three wheels. I did a quick SHFT-R, did the obligatory SnG, and three laps later repeated the same stupid move with the same stupid consequences when the next round of lappers appeared in my mirrors. The only difference was that I'd run out of SHFT-R options so I did the ESC-<CR> in disgust and wondered how soon I might expect to be nominated for the Al Pease Award as the worst driver in UKGPL (All Cars, All Mods, All Leagues).

Quiet race for me. Qualified in 2nd a little short of my PB but had I matched it I would still have been short of Axel's pole time.

Flag dropped and we all got away cleanly and I dropped in behind Axel with Rainier behind me. Tried everything I could to stay with Axel but slowly he extended away and I also managed to pull away also from the pursuing pack. Even late in the race until we came around to lap Francesco and Michael I still got the odd glimpse of Axel either as he exited the 2nd Lesmo or headed off down to Curve Grand but I was a good 7 or so seconds behind.

Had a mix up when lapping Francesco as he mentioned. It was a combination of me being a bit more careful into the Parabolica so as not to run into Michael and Francesco being caught out by the slipstream which gave him a very good run down from the exit of Ascari. I should have been a bit more aware but didn't expect him to be back alongside. Spun through a 360 but no damage and fortunately I had a good gap back to Fulvio's Ferrari so didn't panic and just bought it home.

Thanks guys, it was a blast as always.

I cannot resist to the call of Monza but... I still have issue with the FPS when online. Sad

How can it happen?!?

In Monza I got a solid 60FPS when offline.
Yesterday I got 35 - 40 FPS when online, alone or with a single connected driver.

I need to definitively solve that issue

Thanks Francesco.
I use D3D: with OpenGL I never had a solid 60FPS offline.

@Axel
What should I do?

First give me an idea of your PC  Wink

Is it Hard- or software related Huh

OpenGLV2 is IMO allways better with GPL than outdated D3D7...

Download HWiNFO64 (or 32) start it "summary only" checked and make a screenshot. Post it here.

First thing is allways to make shure CPU and/or GPU are not idling!
with
- intel CPU - check "disable intel speedstep" in GEM+
- AMD CPU - disable "Cool and quiet" and C1E and C6 in bios (wichever you have!)

Fabio,

You may have checked this already,  but it may be as well to confirm you have the gfx card running in 3d mode / appropriate nvidia profiles for each gplcX.exe.
I've certainly had this before where I thought it was all setup correctly, but the gfx card was still idling whilst GPL was running.

Easily checked with openhardware monitor.
Axel is better placed to answer of course,  but in the meantime - I'll direct you to a couple of his previous posts Smiley

[or just search the forum for 'openhardware' for related threads]

Yes Dave you are right!

Fabio your HW specs seem perfect for GPL,
a good guide to setup your GTX 970 is the "easy installation guide" by Stefan Roess , scroll down to the GFX settings  Wink

-> If you are using a NVIDIA graphics card I recommend to use the NVIDIA Profile Inspector for enhanced graphics settings. Antialiasing Supersampling for example is not possible to set within the default NVIDIA System Control.

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-profile-inspector-download.html

For the CPU I recomment to use the PhenomMsrTweaker x64!
Disable in bios the "cool and quiet" C6 and C1E, then set the energy saving with the phenommsrtweaker.
