Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

The mod reports for Mosport, Monza & Watkins Glen have been cleared with no reported incidents. The last race at Mexico was also clear, proving a mighty close finish between Sam in the Lotus & FMG in the Braham. Roo brought home the Lotus for P3.
Congratulations to Tristan for winning the championship, with a race to spare. Being the winner over 10 original 67 tracks is a true test of skill.
I trust you all enjoyed the anniversary season, racing what are now \'virtual antiques\'. Thanks from me - it has been a relatively painless series to moderate.

Season 31 Works Trophy – Round 10 –  Mexico City

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1967 season, the UKGPL season will take place on 10 of the 11 original circuits. The series concludes at Mexico City. The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a 4.304 km (2.674 mi) motorsport, named after the racing drivers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez. The circuit got its name shortly after it opened when Ricardo Rodríguez died in practice for the non-Championship 1962 Mexican Grand Prix. Ricardo's brother Pedro also lost his life behind the wheel nine years later.

Honours for the season are pretty much decided. Congratulations to Tristan, I believe this will be his first UKGPL championship in the 67 cars – a very  prestigious title to win. Tim & Sam should be 2nd & 3rd & which means Black Night Racing take the team title.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 25-06-2017
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT+1)
Track = Papyrus Original
Race length = 26 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

Replays Available here

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

WD Tris - I'm always rubbish here anyway, so it's for the best you've already won so I don't have to stress over it  Grin

That has to be the best race I've ever had here!
Normally I enjoy Mexico but am rubbish here - so it was a nice change to be competitive. Grin

It actually felt to me like the race was only about 20 minutes long I was so busy, the early stretch trying to reel Bob back in was hard work - but from watching him I'd say he started suffering tire temp issues around lap 8.
I couldn't stay close enough to challenge or annoy him at the end of the straight so when Sam got a run on me I lifted slightly and waved him through - simple tactics as Sam was in a Lotus so would be able to get close enough to cause Bob some stress for the entire lap..

2 laps later and Bob did indeed make an error (Bad luck Bob) allowing Sam and myself through.
Sam then scarpered for 4 or 5 laps before he also seemed to slow a bit - I'm guessing he was also suffering from overheating tires.
I reeled Sam back in and was approaching a point where I could start to make myself look big when he ran wide into T1 and got stuck on the armco, as I was close behind and drafting him I naturally followed but was lucky enough to extract myself faster and then took the lead.
Unfortunately my glancing blow to the barrier caused a very small change in my car handling - It took me a lap or so to understand it and start pressing on again but that was enough to allow Sam to get back onto me.
Sadly I just didn't have the horsepower and got eaten on the straight.

I managed to get very close to Sam again but just couldn't get there in time - well done on the win Sam, and well done on 3rd to Roo.
Good effort to all finishers, and also to Andreas who I noticed struggling to get his Reliant F1 home for most of the race  angel

A decent end to a mixed season. It was nice to get behind the wheel of the 67's again.
My Lotus gave me the chance to score some big points, assuming I could keep it out of the barriers & off the curbs & polos. I just about managed that & 3rd was the result. A good start gave me 3rd, a small error lost me a position but Bob's incident gave it back to me while I was able to maintain a gap to Dean.

Grats to Sam & Tim, you were too quick for me Wink
Well done all finishers & thanks for the racing this season.
Grats on the title Tris, sorry to hear about your Mum.

Thanks admins as ever Smiley

Sorry to hear about your mother's health Tris. Hope it all works out in time.

I benefited from the Lotus once again this race. I'm not brilliant at Mexico either so we surprised to be near the sharp end of the grid. Enjoyed my battles with Roo, Bob & Tim through the race and was lucky to have the edge on the straights here. Otherwise, I think Tim would have beaten to the flag.

Congrats to Tris for winning the Works Trophy and to Tim to securing the runner's up spot. And well done to Tim & Andreas, the three of us have helped bag another team's trophy for Black Night Racing  Grin.

My results were a mixed bag this season. Very pleased to bag three wins but my consistency overall wasn't very good, not helped by poor start to the season with two straight DNFs through crashing. Chances are I'll be here again battling with you all next season  Wink.

Thanks to Bill for moderating this series and to Jethro and Axel for hosting servers. New found appreciation after stepping up to mod duties this season  Shocked.

Dear me...  So sorry to learn that your Mum is unwell, Tristan.  Take heart...and most assuredly, no pun intended in that...as modern medicines and treatments have come along way since my parents passed with heart ailments many years ago.  Grats on being our Title Champion!

Grats on the win, Sam!  Well done to Tim & Roo for podium placings.  Bad luck for Bob, Jethro & Clive.

I didn't qualify very well...some 6/10 off my PB in the Eagle...as the eyeballs were playing up a bit.  As a consequence, I decided to DQ myself and start at the back to avoid being in a scrum in T1 on Lap01.  I took my time playing in and only made passes that were solid.  Ultimately, I ended up chasing Syd's Eagle and we had a fine old duel for many a lap.  Again, I wasn't about to chance a pass unless it was a gift.  Only late in the going did Syd get the blue car a little tail-happy on acceleration and compromised his run off the T1-T2 complex.  This let me breeze by without a lot of trouble and I just managed to hang onto to P5 for the finish, the two Eagles nose-to-tail.

Poor Andreas pruned a corner off early but persisted in running on with laps in the 3-minute range.  Admirable pluck but really, now...  We must not allow this to continue as it puts others at risk and for S32, I'll make it an issue that the loss of a wheel brings instant retirement; no exceptions.

My thanks to the admins for another fine season!

In the coming days, I start a treatment programme of restasis to help cure my persistent vision problems.  I've been assured that it's a permanent fix.  Fingers X'd that it helps!  Smiley
