Manteos' suggested format could be fun, though not sure how we would do a championship table for something like that? Pete/DG/Tony?
The other thing is it means you have to learn a new car and track combo each week  Undecided

But I think we give Jeffs RSR mini-series a bash first as a few of us like driving that car and they are good fun. Also gives two weeks notice. Then we could follow it up with the 908 v gt40.
I have missed my historics racing for quite a while and kept considering running another series on a different night.

Group C in some form can follow on in the future.

In GTL land we have run two races per night using a different car for each race. In our case it was Lotus Elans -v- TVR's. Drivers had the choice which car they ran, in which race, but they had to swop over cars at half time.

Easy to setup too.

It sounds fun indeed, but I'm a bit worried the learning part will put people off. There are quite a few arrive and drive people, so having tricky cars in the mix might not be such a great idea  Grin

As I explained it was thought specifically for the P&g champ. In that way it was possible to use quite every car of the mod.
It's a pity to see that in the public servers 99% of the people that use AC do race with only a really small set of cars. Mainly GT3s, that are perhaps easier to drive but not as funny as a lot of road cars or sport cars.
What you said about the change of car every week is correct.
Unfortunately to have more people racing you have to think about the tastes of the majority, so if for a lot of people to change the car every week could be a problem, discard my proposal.
Would be good to read other opinions about my proposal just to see if it's feasible here  Wink

Make a thread with a poll, these proposals often get lost in other threads. If only you could tag people in a thread to get their attention.

Basically guys, in my opinion we need to forget the concept of the "cars with same performance".
We need to bring all the drivers in the same situation.

For example, we can imagine to have a GT3 championship.
Well, we need to decide for example 8 tracks. Only after we can decide to use 8/4/2 GT3's, with the rule that we must use the same car 1/2/4 times.
In this way, all the people will have all the cars, and with this situation if a GT3 is faster than the another one is not a problem.

We can extends this idea with all the cars we want.

Other my opinions that may increase the fun

- I don't like the traction control. This makes exiciting the phase in which we push the throttle  Grin
- I love the ABS because in Assetto Corsa is too easy to lock the tyres.
- Mandatory pits are cool because we've one more ingredient to manage.
- Locked setups (or partially locked) helps in order to reduce the difference of performance among drivers. Even if I never saw problem in order to share my setups.

And I like so much the road cars and the difficult cars. For example
- Ferrari F40 (I love it)
- Alfa 4C
- KTM X-Bow
- Porsche Cayman GT4
- Group C

and I love the Nordschleife  Shocked

My 2 cents

I did an online race sometime ago with the 917K on the Highlands track. For all that it is that was a fun track to run this car on. Long sweeping corners, no H.Tilke track for this car. So old Monza would be good too. Or the Road Atlanta mod track.

Due to miscalculation there isn't a championship race next week. May I suggest the GT40 vs 906 at Virginia? That combo was also popular and could be used after the RSR, or do you guys prefer to alternate classic cars with modern?

Not sure VIR would suit a gt40 v 908 battle, it's narrow and twisty. We want a wider track to exploit and get a little sideways and be able to get the power down on the straights. Road Atlanta? A great track for historic racers

Fair enough, but VIR has a long straight ...

Road Atlanta? A great track for historic racers

...aaaaand that's even worst than VIR  Grin. Love the track, but first sector is twisty with just a long back straight, kinda what VIR has.

Thought we used to use road Atlanta a lot back in the p&g days? Still think VIR with its tight undulating twists will result in lots of grass cutting  Grin

so Road Atlanta or VIR?

Road Atlanta doesnt seem to work on the timings.. i managed to get a 5 seconds lap and then it didnt count any laps at all..

personally i would give this track a miss until its sorted.

Plus, VIR full course is bloody fantastic in these cars!
