As we rapidly move through the Blancpain series its time to start thinking of what may follow. Either some random fun events or a short series.
I still intend to run a group C series at some point, either using all 3 cars but more likely 1 or 2 of the more equal cars but I wont run that straight after Blancpain. I expect it might end up being 787 v 962 or all using the 962 as it has long and short tails and a great variety of skins available.

Some of the ideas put forward by ChrisR:-

praga cup
908LH vs GT40
maserati 250f 6c f1 car
f1gtr vx 911 gt1 vs mas gt1
911 gt1 vs mas gt1
370z cup
787B vs c9 vs 962c
cayman gt4 clubsport
the 3 hybrids.

Also Jeff has suggested running a 6 round series using the Porsche RSR (the cool old one) - which I am all for naturally  Grin

But also feel free to offer up ideas below  Smiley
Some of the trackday events are good fun too using road cars though overall I prefer a proper series with points as it gives drivers a reason to turn up and compete. There are a shedload of cars I haven't even used in AC yet.

I didn't vote Group C's as you stated you are intending to do a series at some point anyways. angel There a some very nice combo's in this poll. So it is hard to choose.

I can think of some more combo's:
Alfa GTA vs Porsche 718 RS60 @Rouen es Lessart

Supra MkIV TA vs Ruf Yellobird vs M3 E30 Gr.A  @ Sugo

917 @ La Sarthe

The mentioned f1gtr vx 911 gt1 vs mas gt1 also sound nice.

Assuming the combo's are balanced:

praga cup: could be fun.
908LH vs GT40. Sounds good
maserati 250f 6c f1 car. Didn't like the car.
f1gtr vx 911 gt1 vs mas gt1. All cars from quite different era's AFAIK, are they balanced in the long run? If so, should be good combo.
911 gt1 vs mas gt1. Same as previous.
370z cup. Haven't driven this car, but sounds a bit bland.
787B vs c9 vs 962c. Said it before, but I can't see these 3 competing equally. 1 Brand or maybe Mazda vs Porsche seems bit easier to manage IMO.
cayman gt4 clubsport. These cars get used a lot, I prefer something more special.
the 3 hybrids. Interesting cars and a challenge, not sure they will work here, but I wouldn't mind this.

I'll describe the series which I had in mind this afternoon, typing on my phone is getting annoying Grin.

Surprised the RSR is on top, but I think people don't realise it's the old 70's RSR , the 3.0 version.

Be interested to hear views of some those new guys who turned up for the GT3 series, as to what we can offer that will make them stick around a bot more.

Personally none of those sound appealing but will give it a go, whatever is chosen.

Although great to have a reason to try out some of the rarer exotica, in my experience if the cars are too tricky to drive then we get a small grid or a massive variance of lap times or people binning it early and giving up, so worth bearing that in mind too.

Re the Rsr's I did put 'the classic old ones' next to the call up  angel

The gta vs 918 is a cracking idea, never thought about that, are they at all competative?

As for the maserati f1's the new live axel fixes have altered the way these drive so its worth revisiting them.

I like the idea of using a single spec car with a straight forward setup and less electric gizmos just for the pure racing feel and putting emphasis on the driver rather than the car, but the car also has to be exciting enough to race with.

I'm also curious, as last GT3 season attracted a few new faces, who all vanished since then.

Yes, but not in the poll, so I just want to emphasize it. Don't want people to turn up thinking they can drive a shiny new RSR, when they get an old rusty Beetle  Grin.

The Alfa seems to be quite a bit faster, atleast a second a lap. That can be balanced out, if the cars are equal in race distance.

Will need to try them again, but then they can be fun. Did a formula Vee race years ago and that was a laugh, so these are kinda the same but more powerful. I don't know if they are suitable for a season, but if the handling is fixed, I'm willing to give them a shot.

My series would be 6 rounds of 30 minutes, with 5 minute qually session and everyone is only allowed to do 1 timed lap.

Tracks will be:
- Silverstone 1967
- Bridgehampton
- Vallelunga
- Riverside
- Poznan
- Mugello

I'd prefer more classic tracks, but don't want 5 add on tracks.

Doubt you will find much rust on an old Rsr when they fetch quarter of a million each these days  Wink

Why one timed lap? That only plays into the hands of the aliens, especially with the wild ride of an RSR. Seems pointless, tyres wont even be warmed up   Undecided. 2 or 3 timed laps would be better.

Not driven the 250f amongst others yet  Sad

I think the disappearing new drivers is because we normally degenerate into random fun races with low turnouts right after a great multi round gt3 series  Undecided plus because those drivers are mostly only interested in the gt3 format I guess.

I would need to test the tyre temps, if they are indeed cold during timed lap, then 2 laps will me max, or else it will remain 1. It actually doesn't play into the hands of aliens, everybody can make mistakes and it spices up qualification. If you give much more laps, then often people get their best or close to PB lap times in, which often aren't a surprise.
This format was used years ago at GRC and it often made for a surprising starting grid, with people either being too cautious, or taking too much risk.

True, which is why I think a decision about this needs to be made around 2 weeks before the GT3's end. Maybe test week in between, but I think starting new series immediatly afterwards is best, keeps the momentum and it works at CORE.

I voted for the RSR and the GT40 one. I remember the one off race we had in the RSR and even in the Shelby Cobra ( which also seems like a good choice for a series ) were alot of fun.

Though the prototypes also get my vote  Grin

For me everything but the GT3 is fine  Grin

Jokes apart, I don't really care what to drive as long as fun is provided for the majority of drivers.

We had some good results with this kind of formula in Italy with the Power & Glory mod. You could divide the champ in 3 phases: Historic - 80/90s - 2000s

Every phase is composed by 2 races in which you have to select between 2 cars, and you cannot use the same car during every phase. For example

Phase 1 (Historic):
Race 1 => Monza
Race 2 => Silverstone

Cars: 908LH vs GT40

Phase 2 (80/90s):
Race 3 => Zandvoort
Race 4 => Imola

Cars: BMW DTM vs Alfa DTM

Phase 3: (2000s)
Race 5 => Spa
Race 6 => Nurburgring

Cars: Pagani Zonda RR vs Ferrari 599 XX EVO

Cars and tracks combos are just for example. You could even do phases composed by three races and 3 different cars, but it would be difficult to find 3 cars close enough in their laptimes for every phase. Another option that helped to bring the field closer during our winter championship was the fixed setup, apart from gears, brake bias and tyre pressure.

Every decision will be fine for me Wink

Quite like that idea

Especially if you use 2 cars, and 2 tracks and you cant use the same car for both.
