I have to agree that the E-type is not on my list of favourites. It always feels sort of vague and reluctant to turn in? and the engine delivers its torque at such low revs that I always find myself in the wrong gear through corners, usually one notch too low.

As an aside, but still rather strange.

I tried a few laps in the E-type at Oulton as well last night, and started tweaking the setup in an attempt to improve things. After making an alteration to the coast side of the diff ( which I don't think is in any way responsible for what happened next ), I returned to the car to discover that I now had an ultra close ratio gearbox??!!! 1st gear was as per default, but 2nd 3rd and 4th were so close to it that they were virtually indistinguishable?? All rather strange as there is no facility to alter individual gear ratios, only the final drive??

I could find no way to re-instate the normal ratios, so had to revert to "default" and apply the couple of changes that I could recall making to rebuild my custom setup. It all worked fine afterwards but it was a bit of a head scratcher at the time  Huh

Never heard of that happening before Clive and the E-Type is a standard GTL car, not a mod. BTW, I thought that you would take to the XJS. I imagined you drifting it through the bends.

It was wierd Tony, but all OK after I reverted to default and started again. These modern magic lanterns are tricky things!!

LOL. before we get to "drifting" I need to be much more confident in the setup/handling department. But towards the end of the short session last night there was a glimmer of hope  Wink. As Erling mentioned the braking distances are hard to judge because the damned thing is travelling so fast.

After dipping my toe into the No-Grip arena in their GT season earlier in the year, I am acutely aware of how many seriously quick guys they have in their camp  Undecided I might need to send Mabel around to "help" with their team catering over Christmas Roll Eyes

2:22.7 in full race outfit. Loving this car and track combo (should I say so myself?) really feel like your battling to keep the car in line.

After a few exploratory laps ( mostly exploring the integrity of the barriers and front wings of the D-type!!), I was getting into Erling Territory with this car. It does seem to repay being "stroked" through the corners in a classic 4 wheel drift with a featherlight foot controlling the loud pedal.

A few test laps give 2:20 at Rouen, 1:46 at Oulton, and 2:27 at Elkhart Lake
should get a bit quicker with more practice. Can't see these times scaring Cap7 and Geoffers  Roll Eyes

Well I'm so far off the pace it's embarrassing.

1:47.7 @ Oulton, 2:27.4 @ Elkart Lake and 2:22.6 @ Rouen. Sad

Not going to get much chance to practice leading up to the races either so I'll just quickly find a safe set  up and hope to make up places while others are digging themselves out of the scenery.

Got my controller sorted so I should be good to join in.

Anyone got a good setup for D Type they'd be kind enough to share?

Thanks.

Just realised I've made a monumental blunder.   Went to join the server and was surprised to find myself all alone, the server set to Road America, and with practice password.

Had assumed the races were today (instead of rereading the announcements carefully enough  Roll Eyes).  Won't be able to join in to the 30th; sorry guys  Cry   (Hours of practice all in vain   Sad)

I'm sure I read it correctly a long time ago, but then forgot about the non-standard day and just went into my habitual "next Monday, next race" thinking.  Memory isn't what it used to be unfortunately  wheelchair

I hope to make this evenings racing if there is a place for me. I connected my G25 up again yesterday. I have to sort out a problem with the brake lights flashing while not using them. The problem also shows up in the controller set up. I am hoping some electronics contact cleaner spray will fix it.
