Handicapping
A token system will be used with the 1966 cars for the first time this season. The tokens system used with the 67F1 cars is actually a chassis levelling system, not a form of handicapping. So to introduce a form of  handicapping into the Historics, drivers who are classed as "Amateurs" will be given additional tokens.  This will take the form of 10 additional tokens at the start of the season.  However an "Amateur" driver who fails to start any of the first 5 races will only be eligible for an additional allocation of 5 tokens (rather than 10).  "Amateur" status will be declared by the divisional moderator at the start of the season.

There is no red zone for this championship. Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents do carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Only reported incidents will be moderated.

If you would like to enter this series please submit an entry in the poll.

But with the new method ,mean that there are no races divided in 1500cc and 3000cc?In other word we can have race with mixed power?

Correct Fran, that's how I read it as well.
Hopefully there won't be too many incidents between the different 'sized' cars, as this could be good fun Grin

Fran, Tim you are right.  Mixed power.  We have run the Historics with mixed power a few times in various races but only once over a season (as far as I can remember). It was Season 15.

The choice of chassis is very much down to the driver.  We have used the World Record times over the original papy tracks to grade the cars and allocate the tokens accordingly. So averaged lap times for a 2L and 3L chassis costing the same tokens will be the same over a typical season.  It will be down to driver choice if they want to spend the tokens on a 2L or 3L car at any specific track.  It should promote some interesting battles.

We are all experienced enough with these cars to recognise the difference in braking distance between the 2L and 3L chassis.  Hopefully there won't be an excessive number of rear-end incidents which I believe is why we split the 66s into 2L and 3L groups.

Just noticed the points cost for the Eagle T1F & T1G - are they the correct way around?
Pretty sure the 3l car is the faster one  Tongue

You would think so wouldn't you. However:

I calculated the tokens using a spreadsheet using this approach (used this method for GTs and 55s too):

Collected all the world record times (well fastest actually because not all tracks have a verified WR time) for the original papyrus circuits (a typical season with a range of fast and slow tracks)
Calculated the average lap time for each circuit.
Calculated a normalised lap time for each chassis (i.e. a proportion of the average)
Identified the smallest and largest normalised lap time
Assumed a linear relationship between normalised lap times and token values in the range 0 to 20 - fastest cost 20 slowest is free (bit  of a simple assumption)
Calculated the number of tokens a chassis should cost at each circuit
Averaged the number of tokens for each chassis over a season
Rounded the average to the nearest whole number to get the final token values

When you look at the WR times for the papy tracks you will see the T1F is faster at Mexico, Mosport, Nurburgring, Silverstone and Zandvoort. And by a sufficient amount to make the token value more expensive.  A bit of an unexpected result I admit.  But unless I've made a mistake in my calculations it is simply down to the current world record times being what they are.

Forgot to mention, I checked the 67F1 cars using the same approach to see how the algorithm compared with the actual tokens we have been using with the 67s for years.  The results matched pretty well which suggests the spreadsheet isn't far off.

Is it too late for me to jump into this series?

For years the 65's ran on the Tuesday night I was scheduled to work.. This series is running the Sunday of my weekend off!

Let me know, thanks.
