Moderator's Report

Postal misses his brake- and turn-in point for the hairpin and ends up on the grass, turning him into a passenger of his own car. He ends up collecting Chris who is just exiting the hairpin.

The first section is hard, with tight corners and a river to fall off into  Shocked
but once you get to the fast parts its longgggggg straights with challenging braking areas.
If you don't know the track you will almost certainly go straight on through a farm gate
at the end of one straight, guarantee it  Grin

I had a bummed race..

Probably because i was trying to get a pb during the race which always ends in disaster!

Practise started good, from the relatively limited anount i did i was able to break into the 2’13’s and in quali i managed to get pole..

Felix immediatly overtook me and stayed there for a lap or two until i got first back, epic close racing from the both of us here, he was sticking to me like glue until i made a mistake around t7, started to slide too much and it grabbed and spit me into the barrier! Lost first place and fabri was then close behind, i knew that he didnt quite have the pace to pass as long as my car wasnt too damaged, but it was pretty goosed, if felt like the rear toe was just floating about, as if the rear toelink has snapped, going into the hairpin was just luck if i could come out again and i spun going in, fabri took away my 2nd and he had a good clean push as i struggled to keep it going, harder i oushed the worse the car felt so had to just bite the bullet and try keep second!

I can get you a replay from home tonight if you need one?

Wasn't intending to race, but I have fond memories of Rouen from GPL days so decided to give it a go.

Qualifying was my practice time so I didn't complete a lap without crashing in qualifying, but knew what to do for the race.

The race was more fun without others than with for a change...less danger! I got progressively faster during the race as I found new lines and got braver! Was sitting quite happily in 6th, big gap with 1 lap to go and decided, instead of play safe and get the 6th that I would push a little too much and crunch, had to esc to pits and then do final lap when everyone else had already finished! This put me down to 7th, which I would have easily taken before the start, but instead felt a little annoyed with myself not to be 6th.

The track looked amazing, possibly one of the best looking 3rd party tracks ever and pretty similar to how I remember the old GPL version.

Thanks to Felix for sharing the setup, without that I doubt I would have bothered to be honest! Car was much easier to drive than last time out at Monaco.

Yes please. There hasn't been a report before this race the whole season, so I didn't stay in the race for the replay  Tongue

I agree, setup felt really nicely balanced. My setup went from horrible understeer to snap oversteer.

I had practice-days on this track quite difficult; either because the track was quite different from that of GPL, either because of an initial setup not good. I had serious difficulties.

On Wednesday in the lunch break, I re-read the GPL setup guide, that advised for Rouen a setup "average" (as I had already), but for Spa it said "hard is nice". So I tried a very hard setup. I did just a few laps offline, printing a 2.14.0. I was much more hopeful.

Qualifications. Bordell, i found traffic and accidents that did not allow me to make useful time in the first 10 mins. I tried to make some clear laps in the end, but I was too pissed and I just made mistakes and shit.
I did a shitty lap and i was 5th on grid.

Race. I started pretty well, but Porco (the king of starts) passed me, I was 6th then. I quickly made a couple of pass and on second lap I was 3rd, but I had accumulated a gap between Felix and Chris. I did the race on same lap-times of leaders, but 6-7 seconds behind them. I continued to push, knowing that if one of them made a small mistake, I would be close.
When I saw Chris's red Lotus in front of me, I thought I could stay with him. I followed him for 2 laps, until he made a small mistake; and i was 2nd.
My race did not end there, because I had great moments of panic in the last two laps, red icon of fuel.
I cursed myself for failing to put more gasoline and not to have calculated that in qualifying I had gone very slowly because of the traffic (and therefore had consumed less). I started to lift the foot on the straights to save fuel. With amazement I saw that Felix was slowing down too, and I thought for the same problem. Also Chris behind me, didn't push. I probably finished the race with less than a pint of fuel in the tank.

A second place, for an anger race.

PS: i saw on my mirrows the Jeffrey's accident, it was terrible, a massacre. Hopefully nobody got hurt, not even among the spectators, I feared the worst.
