Moderator's Report

Tristan used the Lotus to great effect, with pole, fastest lap & the win. The finishing order was very similar to the starting grid, Robert starting in P2 & finishing there. Sam did the same for 3rd.
No reported incidents.

Season 32 Works Trophy – Round 2 –  Rouen

The second race in the Works Trophy takes us to Rouen in France.  From its opening in 1950, Rouen-Les-Essarts was recognized as one of Europe's finest circuits, with modern pits, a wide track, and spectator grandstands. The circuit (which ran on public roads) had a few medium straights, a cobbled hairpin turn (Nouveau Monde) at the southernmost tip, and a few blind corners through a wooded hillside. The appeal was greatly enhanced by the climb from Nouveau Monde at 56 metres to Gresil at 149 metres.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 05-10-2017
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track= Papyrus original
Race length = 25 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the championship standings page

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Well, many thanks to Jethro for his efforts, but this is another one I was completely unable to join, despite restarts, trying direct, checking my entire system from top to bottom, and even having my IP force-whitelisted on the server (UKGPL_9).

I join every other server on iGOR no problem at all (and I'm usually the one helping others with their connection issues on iGOR).

Hate to sound bitter, but right now I am. My Sundays are planned around this, and when others find I've inconvenienced them in order to do this but I end up NOT doing it, yeah, not happy.  Angry

Couldn't join locally 2 feet away from the box.

Router will be replaced, I've had enough hassle with this.

Initially also timed out here, as well through iGOR a direct IP. But I kept on trying and eventually got in...

First race with a G25 wheel (still MSFF pedals, hooked on a wheel)! Smiley No more play in wheel, more range (540 degrees for GPL), more precise. Having more control now in corners as well, especially tight corners. It's funny how easily I've adapted, only setting strg ratio from 15/16:1 (270 degrees MSFF) to 8:1 Wink

In quali another Cooper PB, not much, but still. Enough for the front row. Messed up the start, didn't realize still getting wheelspin. Almost lost it, Sam got by, and I hope cars behind didn't suffer too much.

Ofcourse Tris had an easy ride in the Lotus, and Sam's pace proved too much for me. But suddenly half race or so I see a Ferrari off the road at Sanson. Inherited P2 and Sam made another mistake. But I got complacent cruising in the 57s and at one point Sam gained 3s in 2 laps. Good wake-up call. Then I pushed for 56s and the gap remained 7s  and grew again at the end.

Grats Tris (Lotus? Really? angel) and well done Sam and finishers. Commiserations to the DNS and DNF's. Thanks Jethro for your efforts. Wink

Normally when I haven't hooked my G25 up to the PC for a while I have endless problems just getting the wheel to work, but tonight everything worked so smoothly it actually freaked me out a bit. Wheel worked first time, so got 20 mins more practice than I expected. Got into the race first time of asking and got a PB for the Cooper on the 4th lap...just a little unsettled being the only person on track all that time. It was all going so well...and then I forgot that when you're doing 160mph you actually need to plan fast right hand turns well in advance. I donated my left front wheel to the tree that reminded me of this, and went off for a whisky....

After have tested the server ok during the week, I couldn't again join the server during qualy. Then I tried Direct IP conn. and it worked straight on. This is why my car appears twice on standing. I returned to Igor and it worked too so I locked there and thought to have a nice race.  Smiley
I qualified 5th after the alien guys and in front of Clive with his rusty Honda  Grin
The start was ok and very professional by all, I have to say. I had to focus to keep it straight and not bother to Clive that was big in my mirror at the hairpin and Scierie  Shocked
After all the drivers behind me crashed I begun to lost concentration an almost crashed at T1 at last but one lap, but I was lucky and all ended well  angel
Commiseration to all suffered connection problems.
Ciao

Congrats on the win Tris & Happy Birthday two days in advance  angel.

Rob has described my race rather well. While I was hanging on the 2nd place, the inevitable overdriving in a vain attempt to hold onto Tris caused me to lose the back end at Sanson. Recovering, overdriving to catch Rob, another spin a lap later  Roll Eyes.

It was then a few more laps of quick, if inconsistent pace. Ended up 3rd, but considering the errors I can't complain much.

Had difficulty joining again this round, but Jethro kindly put a manual IP bypass for my address. It did the trick and my connection to the server was great. See you all at the next round.

Sorry to quit the race on Sunday, but I was running last and was almost falling asleep. It must have been the strenuous ( not! ) holiday that I had just returned from!! maybe too much relaxation??

Grats to Tris, Robert and Sam, the podium guys.

 I had considered taking an Eagle as a treat to myself, but without time to build a setup it would have been a waste. So I rolled out the trusty old Waza, and for the first time in almost 3 weeks tried to focus on GPL driving.......it took a few laps to remember what I was supposed to do!! lol

Once Doni had dropped out in his Honda things got a little lonely as Fulvio slowly pulled away in his Ferrari. I was lucky on more than one occasion to avoid serious damage when I lost concentration. But eventually a close encounter with the polos at the hairpin re-arranged something in the steering and I had to use the power to get the tail around the right handers.
I hope to get myself back in the groove soon and make more of a nuisance of myself  Wink
