Moderator's Report

Round 3 - Summary
Just 1 reported incident.

Server replay time: 0h00m58s

Lap 1 - T1 - Dean Logan and Axel Cookie
A clean start from both drivers but Dean simply leaves his braking too late on cold tyres and rear ends Axel. Axel is out of the race but Dean can continue.

Axel did nothing wrong.

Dean misjudged his braking and consequently must take responsibility for the incident.

Please count me as fifth. I had a big lag.
Checked server replay.  You had a bad lag over the line on lap 15 which dropped you a lap.  Results corrected.

I saw in my replay that there was a lot of warping by almost all the cars, I hope it wasn't me because I had Q bar at 890 in the first part of the race.

@Francesco. Puoi controllare nel tuo replay con GPL Replay Analyzer le temperature del motore e il numero di giri max?

Great race with Dony BRM, nobody of us did a mistake so 20 laps of pure fun. Commiseration to Clive for the engine fault.

Gret pace by Tristan as always.
Ciao

Do you have any other racing games or sims that are also subject to engine problems? Do you grenade engines more than other people do in those? Not saying you do, just exploring possibilities.
No i don't have other racing game.I have doubt on my potentiometer that is not original.Until now i have had 2 explosion with the Lancia at B.A, one smoke with with the Connaught at Monaco. With the 66 explosion with the Cooper lap 4 at Rouen and yesterday.Zeltweg does not matter  due to an incident at lap7 with Phil(my oversight). So,until now there is no race without engine problems.Different the situation with the 67.Here i have had explosion only during qualyfication.

Unlike Fran, I think I know why my engine failed on Lap 2.  I had done a few laps practice earlier in the day just to be sure that I had the correct version of the circuit etc. What I had not allowed for was Fulvio's monster Maserati.
The extra power of his car just blew past me on the back straight on the first lap and I tucked in behind him to pick up the tow......... a bad move! When we reached the S/F straight I was right on Fulvio's exhaust pipes out of the final corner........another bad move!! because I had failed to gear my car to allow for being towed along in the slipstream. By the end of the straight the red needle was banging on the max revs stop and I should have guessed what would soon happen.

When I downshifted too soon into T2 I expected the engine to explode and was relieved when it somehow held together, but as I pushed on the gas down the back straight...everything went quiet and that was the end of my race  Undecided

Grats to Tris ( I almost chose the Brab BRM myself..wish that I had now  Sad )  Well driven Fulvio and Doni for a great race long duel.

Fran I looked into your fastest quali lap,
GPLRA shows your shifting revs up to 7300min! The car wants a gear change at ~6500min  Roll Eyes

I have done a test to understand if my driving style is wrong.Same car ,same track, same driving style and realistic damage .Results 16 laps without problem and with a time around 2,25 (more or less) and, obviously,i'm more angry. The only thing noticed during the races(both Rouen and Road A.)is a sort of slow-down of the reaction of the command ,despite a good FPS. Huh

Fran have you saved your test laps?
Now take the rpy into GPLRA and look with the gearchange analyzer for the avg upshifting revs...

A nice fighting with Alesandro and Andreas, was really fun with me being faster in the corners and them on  the straights.

Sorry for last lap incident but you went back to the line under breaking, that was too close. Good you could go on, my GPL destroyed your engine.

Grats to all finishers and cya one more next Wink then i'm away for 6 weeks.

At first thank you for the help Axel. One question is :how i can set-up the revs? With longer gear? in this case ,also with the high revs,i was able to do 16 laps without explosion,in the race only 3/4 of lap.

The car wants a gear change at ~6500min  Roll Eyes

Quick question - how do you know about the ~6500...?
Do you just know/can feel the car's pain, or previous experience of blowing them up,  or maybe it's documented somewhere?!

I'm thinking that maybe other cars in other series may have their own similar limitations...?
(I normally just change up around 2-3 o'clock, but maybe that's typically ok at non-realistic damage?)

Cheers,
Dave.

In GPL game look at the Team Info screen. It has some basic info about the car you have selected, including max revs. For example the Brabham 67 is 8200 whereas the Eagle is something like 10,000. The red sweep hand will go higher than the engine is designed for, particularly in lower gears.
You can go a little over but GPL adds up all the stress in the engine. I guess that Pro settings are more likely to fail than intermediate.
