Moderator's Report

Robert conquered the field to win from the back of the grid, although he did get some luck with Tristan's retirement. The other podium spots were taken by Fulvio & Doni.

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

On the approach to T1 Fulvio puts a wheel on the grass whilst braking. His car spins across the track & collects Clive and the contact ends Clive's race. No particular error here, just bad luck for Clive.

Season 32 Works Trophy – Round 3 –  Road America

The third race in the Works Trophy takes us to Road America in the USA.  The track covers 640 acres (2.6 km2) within Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine. It is near the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive and has hosted races since September 1955. It currently hosts over 400 events a year. Road America has not been modified and retains its original configuration of 4.048 miles (6.515 km) in length and consisting of 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph (320 km/h) may be reached. One of the best known features of this course is a demanding right hand turn known as "the kink." Road America's open seating allows spectators to venture throughout the grounds. Grandstands are available in several locations, as well as permanent hillside seating where crowds of more than 150,000 can be accommodated.

The link is correct Art, we'll be racing the 2017 version. Why the 2012 lap records are showing I can't answer.

Sadly I won't be racing this round. I'll be moving house this weekend so that'll put me out of action for a short while. Hopefully will be able to get a new connection soon  Smiley.

I found the same issues with the 66's last week. I had the "old" version in my track file and did a few practice laps to remind myself of the circuit, before I realised that the race link had an updated version.

I was quite disappointed to discover that what I thought were my world record laptimes, did not transfer to the new layout  Undecided

The SROU database knows only one version of RA, as the track layout was never changed...

hmmmm.
Well I now have 2 versions of  Road America in my tracks file, they are definitely intended to be the same circuit, but there are some differences.

The older version which is called "Road America" I have had for many years and rarely used AFAIK, with less detailed graphics.  I believe that it was used many many years ago when UKGPL ran the Masters league?? or maybe it was BREASTS??.

And the latest version which we are now using that is "Road America Elkhart Lake".

The newer track has a much longer straight section from the pit exit to T1, and there also some distance differences at other parts of the track. It looks like the new version is slightly longer on total lap length, which would explain the slower lap times.

I think GPLRank also lists both options and the laptimes.

At GPLRank the latest version is called Road America CanAm. I recommend putting the trackdir name in the racepost, and linking to the track, in this case roadamer.

Clocks in the UK went back one hour last night.

I.e. race is an hour later for everyone not in the UK.

Also, I notice we're using UKGPL_9 for this race. With all of the issues I and others have been having joining that server, could this not have been tested PRIOR to scheduling it for a league event? Basically, expect a protest and a demand for a re-run if anyone has any trouble.
