Season 32 Works Trophy – Round 4 –  Salzburgring

Round 4 of the Works trophy will be held at the Salzburgring in Austria.

The race track was first opened in 1968. Lying in a narrow, alpine valley, it has a rather simple layout, with two long straights plus the sweeping and fast "Fahrerlagerkurve" ("paddock turn") at the bottom of the course, and the narrow "Nockstein-Kehre" at the top. In spite of its simple layout, it garnered a fearsome reputation for the high speeds reached on the straights and the "Fahrerlagerkurve".

For info. UKGPL9 has been into the garage for some upgrades. We turned down the 2017 engine upgrades that Honda supplied to McLaren & hopefully these should improve the internet connection. The server is being made available for testing in advance. (Big thanks to Jethro).

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 12-11-2017
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Salzburgring 76
Race length = 39 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the championship standings page

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

...Server = UKGPL_9...

Ok, this season is officially MEANINGLESS. Ability to join that server (and thus have a chance to score points) is nothing but a lottery.  Angry

I appreciate Jethro's efforts to sort this ****fest out, but is there really no other option?

Tried to join this race for over 25minutes via Igor and direct IP, but got the message that "I was not qualified to join this server"Huh?

Now I am not sure if there is an issue at my end with my new PC or there is a parameter on the server connection that is blocking me???

I can boot 67 GPL off line and run cars on Salzburg track, so I am tempted to think that my install is OK. I can see the UKGPL9 server in  Igor and the system obviously attempts to connect before getting the rejection message. Exactly the same result when trying via IP??

Hope you guys have fun. After a day assembling flat pack wardrobes I was looking for some light relief and simracing action................. Undecided

Gross troubles trying to join the server.  CPU reboot did not help.  Only killing off the exe and allowing GEM to rebuild it seemed to do the trick.  Not fun!  Sad

Art...  Please fix your connection.  You disappeared for 3-4 seconds at a time.  Double not fun!  Sad  Sad

Well it was great to be back racing. While I'd like to blame my rustiness on my retirement, it was more of a case of a lack of talent and locking front brakes  Roll Eyes. Good luck to those still running, those hay bales sure are sticky!

Ok, seems I am back to the 'bull in china shop' mode of the beginning of my sim racing... Roll Eyes First of all sorry to Andreas, I ended up rear ending him and it is not the first time over the years, cant do anything but apologise really. After making a noob mistake at the start, I rejoined behind Andreas' Brabham and a Ferrari, they were both disappearing at length several times during the lap, and I had to take on the grass in a couple of occasions as obviously I wasn't visible for Andreas at times. Should have parked it really, sorry to all concerned. Grats to the winner, Rob I guess, he seemed to have easily the legs on everyone, and podium.

It is rare for me to have connections problems, so dont know whats going on really, I don't think there were problems in the previous races? I had ok FPS, so dont think it was the pc. I also had some troubles joining, but made it this time out after several attempts and a reboot.

Had been looking forward to the race since Art was close in quali, in the Eagle. Art had a better run after the start, we were two wide, I tried to give as much room I could. Then I heard and saw him spinning, I got lucky not being collected. Felt for Art and myself, but Bob was close behind first laps, until my tiretemps came in and I found a better rhythm. Struggled again with the focus, and with the left tires getting too hot at times, after pushing for fast laps. Had a few offs and had to save the car many times with a rather inconsistent race as a result...

Well done Alain and Dean, and Jethro. Commiserations to the retirements. Wink

...the message that "I was not qualified to join this server"Huh?...

That's a "wrong choice of 60fps patch" thing afaik (the only failure to join this race that I can help with; for the rest, see my previous reply in this thread).

Attilio was just _not_there_ for half of the lap and a half I was following him, so sorry to Doni if I was a bit erratic, wondering where the he** he'd re-appear.

My race plan was just "finish", and I did that, but with other's connection issues, no fun.

Good evening to all,

Finally a race of was ended, it will be my only one satsfaction of the evening because I was really very slow yesterday evening, the least fast of Brabham.

It's a pity for all these connections to the server which does not walk.

In my opinion it is the problem of LPG EXE that is not good.

It would be necessary it tested 1 of the other pilots which works well.

Bravo Robert 2s in every tours, I took good one lessons.

Thanks to the organizers and see you soon   Smiley

First race in a while for me, I hadn't driven the track much and I've just had conjunctivitis, so wasn't on top form. I enjoyed my brief appearance, but knew 39 times through the chicaney bit at the top of the hill was gonna be a long shot!

I have had a plethora of PC issues, the latest being that my Anti V thought Igor was a trojan so had quarantined it!  I was going to join via IP but the thread stated that I'd find that in igor...slightly disingenuous perhaps!  Anyways, once I'd realized what had happened I restored igor and hey presto straight into the race absolutely no probs at all.  A shame so many others couldn't join.

Thanks for hosting, c u next time.

Bob.

Yeah, it was a shame. Was thinking about to let you pass because never really know where you are. Then it was to late..
