Season 32 Works Trophy – Round 6 –  Surfer’s Paradise

The venue for our sixth race is the wonderful Surfers Paradise track in sunny Queensland. Many of the GP stars were found here through the 60's attending the Tasman Series events, a championship split between Australian and New Zealand tracks and often used by the teams as 'shakedown' races for their new chassis prior to the start of the new European F1 season.

Following a successful test UKGPL9 is back in service.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 10-12-17
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Surfers Paradise
Race length =  43 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the championship standings page

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Recovering from the flu and hadn't done much testing. But was able to improve in each (practise) session online, but for the race.

Quali was close with Tris. Very happy to see him back, but also felt Attilio's forced absence...

Tris got the better getaway on the preferred raceline and as I had to enter tight he easily got the lead. We both had about the same pace and pulled away slightly from Sam. Mostly due to little mistakes by Tris who went sideways I got a few runs, but never enough to make a pass stick without risks. Were some close calls, also went sideways myself  but gladly we didn't touch. At some point after halfway Tris went wide off the track and spun.

From then on ran my own pace, and set some fast laps. Great to have Tristan back, really enjoyed those first 20-25 laps, a bit of Zeltweg revisited. Happy to as well race for the win as to have to work for it.

Fun track with difficult corners, and a bit of a LF tireburner, I found out in the race. Had to be disciplined not entering too fast, but focussing on the exits, also to keep some balance. Really dislike understeer, but on the other hand the rear tires also were on the edge of spinning out. Made for a fun drive.

Well done Tris and Sam, commiserations to the DNF's Wink Thanks all for racing. Smiley

Congratulation Robert! I have seen your race in my replay and your drive is always strong and clean, you rarely have the car sideways on braking and accelerating.  Shocked
After all I could have driven the Bra by and perhaps I could have a chance on straight, but when I tested it was more difficult to drive than the Coop so I stayed with this. Clive passed by soon on the straight and so he did with Don soon after, but then he had some contact with rails so I think his car became difficult to drive till he crashed.
Don and me had about the same pace, we couldn't keep up with SAM and Bob, but we could manage a good gap on Andre as and Dean.
No one of us did big errors for 41 laps and the gap stayed between 1 and 3 sec. all the race. I touched twice the iron tires after midrace an the front became a little light at T1 but driveable. When Robert lapped us I closed the gap on Don and at the very last lap I was on his tail at T1 and T2 where he had a slower exit so I kept the right on the run to T3 to give him some battle on braking while he stayed on left, but on braking I touched his RR with my LF and the hell came flying us to the moon  Grin
Sorry Don, I couldn't help much there. Luckily we were already last on track and positions didn't change. angel
Ciao

Congrats to Rob & Tris for leading the way! I did enjoy that race very much indeed even if it was a relatively quiet one. The first few laps had me and Bob dicing for 3rd place till he went along the wayside. Couldn't match Tris & Rob's pace up front so settled on running a consistent race which I managed this time out.

Once Tris was recovering from his spin, I attempted to take advantage, but was too far back and Dean provided some excitement by spinning in between us  Grin . No worries there Dean. Tris slowly pulled away, only for me to close the gap towards the end, but can't complain with 3rd place after a consistent run. See you all at the next one.

Hi Smiley
Good fun , specialy the first half of the race under Rob pressure .... then I go off track 'cause I see a very nice flower in a field   Wink .....
I try to recover but my wheels left side was red and the car spinning eatch curve ....so I was just able to contain Samb to keep the second place...
See you all next year in Brno ... Wink

Pending a new drive in the system, check back tomorrow. I'll put it on a temporary link then.
