Huge grats to Ziu who is still able to drive faster than the rest of us even with a very painful arm.
I did not think that anyone would go sub 2:00mins, but he clipped 2 secs off that prediction!!!
The only preparation that I did for this race was a few laps on Sunday just to check that I had all of the cars, in all the right places, for the server. I kind of knew the track from previous races and remember using the Skyline a couple of seasons back, but any setups I might have had, have been lost in my rebuilding of GTL to a stable and working platform.
So, practice for the first race and I initially picked the BMW ...just because.... and found myself following Matt in the Skyline for a few laps. Hmmm that Skyline looked quick, maybe I should give that a spin?
After a few laps I was liking the Nissan and seemed to be posting laps that might get me towards the front of the grid, until Ziu unleashed his Porker
.
Decided to stick with the Nissan for race 1 and it was hectic in the first laps with Roger chasing Ziu and Geoffers ahead. Not sure what happened but , Roger's car suddenly looked very unstable and eventually went way wide at T3 allowing me through to chase after Geoffers.
Ha!! some chance of that!! Ziu and Geoffers just drove away from me. But I was able to ease away from Roger and Matt, who were arguing about the place behind. The rest of the race was quite lonely and I drove my own race to the flag.
Race 2 I decided to use a different car ( just to preserve my options for later in the series ) and rolled out the Beemer.
After the debacle at T1 I emerged from a cloud of metalwork and rubber smoke to find myself almost alongside Ziu for 2nd place and with Matt leading??!! Not being one to look too closely when gifted that sort of luck I chased the 2 leaders hard and hoped to escape from those recovering behind.
Maybe I should have done a little more preparation on my setup, because the left rear tyre was glowing red after the first 5 laps and was suffering from tremendous tyre wear.....I cannot believe that it was my driving???
.
Geoffers caught me and soon found a way past in his BMW, but then he opted to test the concrete pit wall and I think that finished his race. Again I had a steady run to the flag just trying to keep the tyres alive and very grateful that no-one was pressing me from behind!!
Thanks Tony for what looks like a fun season
