Just i can say which i drove all 14 laps with a damaged car after that Dan threw me on guard rail of Esses. My engine not worked well expacially i feel it on Hunaudieres, i not could lapping Tony on long straight he helped me (thanks Tony) he slow down and on normal condition not should be so and my right side was destroied like is possible see on replay i had some problems to right turns. All this to say which the different between me and Clive was 2 seconds every laps and some times more. Normally i think we could heve a race with more fun.

Grats to Erling for title and Grats to Geoffers for podium

Very Grtas to Roger, nice drive !

One perfect lap in quali with 3.47,8 in the "small" Maserati made me very happy.

Unfortunately I missed my braking point early in the race when trying to pass Geoffers at the end of Hunaudières  Roll Eyes
After that I had massive problems concerning steering and braking which couldn't be cured by an early pit stop
and the car still went only 280 kph on the straight  Sad
So I had to leave after half distance  Tongue

Congratulations to Erling for the championship and Ziu & Geoffers for podium.

Big Thanks to Tony and all involved in organizing this series.

Still really like theses cars  Cool

Grats to Ziu, Rog and Dan on the podium and to Erling for the championship.

After a night's sleep the red mist has cleared and I am not feeling quite so frustrated.  Roll Eyes Apologies for my emotional post last night  Sad

I think it was just that I was enjoying what is just about my favourite car in GTL, on a circuit where it can really stretch it's legs, and on top of that I had found a setup that actually worked for me.
As pre race posts indicated I had tried  a couple of practice pitstops, although I had not done a full race run. I was relying on the indicated laps available on a tank of fuel which showed 10.4, so I needed to add 40% of a full tank to complete the final 4 laps...simples. I think the longest run that I did was around 5 laps in offline practice, just to see how much rubber this monster would chew through and I decided that one set of tyres would actually last the whole race, so that was my plan. Full tanks off the grid and a splash and dash for the final 4 laps on worn tyres. I figured that not taking tyres would save around 30 secs on a pitstop and I could afford to be 5 secs a lap slower for the final 4 laps and still be ahead on time.

However ...... when Ziu bogged down at the start and I suddenly found myself propelled into the lead ( with gentle encouragement from Dan at T1  Wink ) I had to try and build a gap to prevent Ziu getting back into my slipstream  Shocked. It soon became obvious that Ziu was not running at full pace and I wondered if he was trying to squeeze a whole race from one tank of fuel. I had worked out that with a featherlight right foot and major short shifting it might just be possible to reach 13+ laps, but abandoned it as too risky. I was extending the gap by about 1.5-2 secs a lap and when Ziu pitted around lap 8 I was suddenly 80+ secs ahead.
By the time we got to the end of lap 10 I had a 90 sec advantage and although I still reckon the tyres would last until the end I figured "why risk it?". Tyres and fuel would cost me around 65 secs? and still leave a healthy lead for the final 4 laps, and I would have fresh rubber if I needed to up the pace.

The pitstop actually went well for me and I was feeling quite chuffed as I eased back onto the track and powered away still with a 30 secs lead  Grin. I was shocked to get a SnG penalty just before I swung on to the straight and almost made my first mistake in the race  Shocked. OK nail this out lap and I can still do the penalty and be back out for a final 4 lap duel with Ziu.....Except when I did an ultra cautious SnG I got another penalty just before the Mulsanne again. cursing cursing

I had thought that by entering the pits on the speed limiter, making the stop and then getting back onto the racing tarmac before releasing the speed limiter, all would be OK with the GTL gods. I had assumed that the speed limit only applied if you were actually in the pitlane and once I was out onto the track I was free to use max velocity?
I am guessing that my pre race post was erroneous and that I was at liberty to get back on the race track, but I would still have to engage the speed limiter until I reached a point alongside the marshall at the end of the pitlane??  Undecided

Satisfied with my race in the Aston, in fact 4th was better than I expected but that was only because a few dropped out or had problems.

As I have said before I have never been able to drive the Big Massers, just can't keep them on the track, so never even bothered to try them for this race. So it was straight choice between the DBR2 & the Ferrari 375, a few laps in each showed that the Aston was slightly faster & easier to drive so I went with that even though the Fezza had a bigger tank & would need a shorter fuel stop. My start was good & with several Massers falling over each other through the first few corners I was actually up to 3rd going on to the Mulsanne Straight. Power told though & Ziu, Rog & Bob soon put me back where I belonged before Kurt closed in at the end of the straight but outbraked himself & took Bob with him. Tony was right on my tail by Indianapolis but by the time we reached the S/F straight he was nowhere to be seen. After that the only cars I saw were stopped at the pits, so it was a fairly lonely but nonetheless quite enjoyable race with no mistakes.

Congrats to Ziu, Rog & Dan.  clap clap clap

And congrats to Erling & Ziu on the top two championship positions.  I Am Not Worthy I Am Not Worthy

My race had a promising start, managed to torpedo Clive in T1 and squeeze Ziu into the barrier in T2 ! I am afraid both of them weren't too happy about it themselves !My sincerest apologies gents.
I feel sorry for the amount of bad luck Clive had to take. His pace was far superior to ours and I think he deserved to win this one. On the other hand what if….I hadn't knocked the pace out of Ziu's car in T2….?
A big Thumbs up for Roger, excellent pace, very consistent and a very cunning pit strategy. Hats off Sir.
Apart from the start my own race wasn't very eventful but good fun as always.
Thanks, Tony for this great series and congrats to Erling for winning the trophy.

Knocked a couple of secs off my pb in qual, so happy with that.  The start was a repeat of what is fast becoming an annoyingly regular habit: I outqualify Dan - just, only to lose the position promptly to his lightning starts.   He then tangled with Ziu leading up to Tertre Rouge, and I got squeezed in the process, giving Geoffers the opportunity to slip past.  Next I ran a bit wide at Tertre Rouge, hitting the dunes which spun the car round.  Rejoined last and next came upon a recovering Kurt & Bob at Mulsanne Corner.  Ran a bit wide through the corner, accidentally breaking a headlight on Bob's car.  Dunno if that ticked him off, or whatever else explains his driving at Indianapolis, but suffice to say, I got booted into oblivion.  Race then over before I could complete even one lap.  Not really the end to this series I had hoped for.

Grats to Ziu on the win, Clive for almost winning, Roger & Dan for filling the podium, and to Ziu & Geoff for grabbing the remaining silverware in the Championship.

Bad one for me but then I didn't have very high expectations.  Got bumped and it messed my suspension up.  No Erling, had no hard feelings, just a wounded car that was handeling bad and I went around that corner and the brakes pulled me right into you.  Big sorry for that!  Looked in the mirror and you were gone, I guess into cyberspace.   Glad I didn't effect your series win, Grats on that!
Recovered my focus and struggled with the car for
a few laps until I thought I could make it to the end from a pit stop.  Got the suspension fixed I thought but nope, car was worse after the stop than when I went in.  Finally said to myself this is "Stupid" and pitted again.  Board came up that the suspension was OK, so I just ejected....Grats to the podium and all that finished.  Thanks to Tony for setting up the series, Good fun no matter what!

No problem Kurt, Stuff happens.  You never can tell about GTL and it's car damage.  Sometime you can plaster it into a wall and nothing.  Next time you just touch something and major damage.  I guess thats why we like the old game like we do!!!!!  It is strange that the last couple of times I have had repairs done in the pit's and come out with a worse car than when I went in.  "Go Figure!!!"  See you all next week..........

@ Bob, If you remember I also had a similar pit stop oddity at Sachsenring. We also had it in that Turbo Capri series. I'm beginning to suspect that the server GTL install may be the cause so over the holiday period I will treat the server to a new install and we will hope that sorts it.

No worries Bob; just one of those things that happens sometimes.  Thanks all regarding the Championship; as stated before, it's an honour to grab it in this company.   Thanks to Tony for setting it all up, and to Kurt for all the result stats.
