Just one question Tony................

I notice that one of my Simca options appears to have a 6 speed gearbox? is that correct?
It does feel like it has very close ratios and no ability to change individual gears.
Yes, the Abarth Simca 1150 Corsa has the 6 speed box. You can change individual gears. Do you have the two page garage car setup installed?

Geoffers, with those overtake you show to me that you are a genius but if between my hands I had a Pirin you could pass me just in yours dreams

Hi the Pirin was a joy to drive, had great fun trying to catch up with Ziu in his 1150 but ran out of fuel on penultimate lap ( strange as used same fuel and default setup as race 1 ).

 laugh Probably true Ziu.  laugh

Great fun these little cars, really enjoyed racing them.

First race got outdragged off the line by Erling's TCR & would probably struggled to get past him as the TCR is faster on the straights, but had a bump from Fulvio at Hugenholtz on lap 1 which took us both off. Rejoined & set off after the pack, passed most of the slower class cars & got up to 3rd & was catching Ziu & hoping to get close to Erling, but a couple of mistakes on the same lap around mid-distance lost me vital seconds & a place to Fulvio. Quickly retook him coming onto the S/F straight on the next lap & caught up to Ziu, getting past was not so easy as the Simca was as quick as the Pirin on the straight & Ziu did well defending on the twisty bits. After a couple of attempts I got ahead at Tarzan, although Erling was too far ahead to catch now, so had to settle for 2nd.

Intended to take the quicker TCR for race 2, but as I seemed to have enough pace with the Pirin, I decided to stick with it. Start went better this time & I led into Tarzan. Fulvio stuck close for a couple of laps before I opened a gap & eased away for a fairly comfortable win. Bet the rest of the races won't be that comfortable! Undecided

Congrats to all podium finishers.  clap clap clap Cya all at Longford.  thumbup1

This series promised some great entertainment, and Lap 1 Race 1 delivered that when Geoffers and Co went grass cutting at Hugenholtz. perhaps he was unaware of the absolute carnage that ensued  Shocked.

When my race prepared shopping trolley eventually made it to that part of the circuit, along with several other cars in close proximity, tarmac space was very limited and in the spirit of the true gentleman drivers that we are, we exchanged paint samples with all the cars around us. I suspect that some exchanges were forced upon drivers who perhaps were not really totally focused on increasing their paint collection but they got some anyway.  Wink Mabel told me later that some competitors even started door handle and mirror collecting!!
But, what it did prove was that small Italian cars are quite robust and do not fall apart upon first contact.  Roll Eyes

The rest of the race I was driving my socks off in a battle with Bill and Bob, totally perplexed as to why I could not match their acceleration out of the corners or down the main straight?? Obviously I need to look at my gearing and learn how to drive these little cars ( wistfully dreaming of Boss Mustangs here  Roll Eyes ) Great fun with some close battles
Grats to Erling and the podium guys.

Race 2 I opted for the insanity of the 150mph TCR version ( who in their right mind would drive a car this small at 150mph??!!). This proved to be much quicker than the TC Corsa that I had used in Race 1 and I was able to hassle Fulvio for the first few laps until a couple of minor errors allowed him to pull a couple of seconds clear . Geoffers was giving a masterclass up front and was a distant memory after the first laps. Ziu was a worry behind me with his Simca as he insisted on keeping pace with me for several laps until I think he made a small error and I finally got some heat ( and grip ) into my tyres. the rest of the race was a chase after Fulvio, but I just could not hook up enough fast laps to close the gap before a made a small error and lost all my hard work again.

Grats again to Geoffers and Fulvio.

I did a few laps offline in the Pirin Fiat and I have to say it was the fastest car for me. But these are early days in these cars and I decided to mix up my choice and see how I compared to the rest of you guys. The answer is that I feel I need to do some more practice......why is that always the answer???  Undecided

Was that good fun or what??  I really enjoyed driving these little "pregnant roller skates" with you guys.  Wish we would have had a little bigger field.  Maybe after the absent guys look at the replays they will join in.  I have never enjoyed racing these small cars, always if given a choice opted for power over handling, but the car selection given to us really made  for interesting racing.
R1 was  great with someone almost always in my mirror or ahead.  As Clive said he,  Bill and I had some great battles. If I knocked you off  on the big right hander Bill, sorry about that.  Slowed up a bit after that so you could run me down in your TCR which you did....
R2 I had lost my focus and had several offs into the weeds which is a no-no in these little cars.  Forgot what gear I was in one time and went down into first which spun me out on T1.  Just didn't have the concentration and was squirming in my chair at the end.  Still worth it though.
See you all at Longford next week in the  old beasties.

I not did any mistake in race2, Clive. You had a Class A and when yours tyre got the right warmth you take advantage on me.
I did just a mistake in race1 last lap on last corner and Fulvio overtake me
