Results and replay now posted.

We must wave good bye to the Aston Martin DBR1  no

In case your wondering why we are not losing the Mercedes SL  Huh    Four Mercs were SL and the fifth was a SL Gullwing. And the Aston Martin had a higher finishing position.

Always enjoyed the challenges thrown up by this track. Great looking grid and some sensible first lap driving.

My woes began at my pit stop. Filled the tank and changed four tyres leaving the bodywork damage as it was. Left the pits and immediately realised that something was very, very wrong with the steering. Car wanted to steer left then right with each change in direction becoming more violent. Managed to crawl around to the pits again (sorry for those I scared on my way around). Only thing I could fix was Bodywork so waited for that to be repaired. Left the pits and the car was now driveable again. It was only my love for this track that kept me going as I was now too far behind everyone to have any hope of catching anyone. Very odd, particularly as the car was fine prior to my first pit stop  Huh

This is posted as a general reminder to all drivers and is not directly aimed at anyone in particular in this race or in previous races.

As gentlemen drivers it is an unwritten rule in sim-racing that if you knowingly cause an incident which adversely affects a fellow driver you should allow the victim to regain his place in front off you.

It should also be remembered that our rules do state this "Where a driver believes they are at fault for an incident, they may elect to impose a drive through penalty on themselves by entering the pitlane and driving the full distance down it at the speed limit without stopping at their garage for any work to be performed.
Such a drive through must be performed within a reasonable time after the incident, the rule of thumb being 3 laps.
A self-imposed drive through should be reported to the series moderator along with the incident, and will under most circumstances reduce or eliminate any positional penalty."

Grats Erling for championship

Thanks Ziu  Wink

Do love this track - the hill cresting fast curves, where the car drifts or even jumps sideways are just a hoot  Smiley

Also finally a chance to drive the best sounding car in GTL (from inside).

Surprised to be 2nd on grid, but Ziu & Dan positively catapulted off the line, both getting in front.  Dan gentlemanly waved me through later on L1.  Up front Geoffers was in a different league, but I gradually reeled in Ziu. We had some great dicing over a couple of laps; I even got in front, only to lose it again a few corners later, when I locked the brakes and slid into the concrete hay bales.  Broke my headlights, but fortunately didn't affect the handling.

Set off after Ziu again, but just as I was closing, he went for an early stop.  That left me a clear track and I could focus on getting some fast laps, hoping to emerge in front of him after my own stop.  Seeing Geoffers in the pits around lap 8 gave me hope he would change tyres.  Stopped myself at the end of lap 10, for fuel only, but was passed by Geoffers who clearly didn't change tyres.  Did emerge ahead of Ziu though, although with his disconnect later, it didn't really matter.

Couldn't catch Geoffers obviously. Lost time in traffic, but not the fault of those I lapped; thanks all for helping me past, I just misinterpreted people's intentions at times.

Grats to Geoffers on a commanding win, and Dan for bringing the AC on the podium  Shocked  Commiserations to Ziu and everyone else who suffered problems.

Erling dont be surbrised about your second on the grid, Jaguar DBR1 on this track was the best, Mercedes was good on corners and more stable
but not more power for this starights.

I knew about it but i never won with Mercedes and i choice it, i not had hope but in my fantasy i believed to finish in 1st place.

Anyway you didnt win champinship on this race, i think you deserved to win before

Thanks and yes, foundation was laid in the early races.  In the latter part of the season, Geoffers has been positively unbeatable, no matter which class.  Dunno what he's been drinking lately, but it's certainly working..  Grin

Beer  w00t Its probably my dislike of doing too much practicing, takes me half a season to perfect a setup, by which time I'm already too far behind in the points. Actually in this series I have driven the cars I like, Healey & Astons, which have not always been the most suitable for a particular track. Anyway the one time you drove the Healey you positively whipped us until you went off. Tongue

Back to last nights race. Aston was the best car for this track, no doubt, & like Erling I really like the track, but I always seem to find somewhere to crash here, so was not too confident. Ziu beat us all off the line but the Aston's power got me ahead on the long uphill section, Ziu caught up through the fast sweeps at the end of the lap & we took the final bend side by side. Aston pulled ahead on the S/F straight & I managed to ease away over the next few laps. Noticed Ziu did an early stop so was worried that his short pitstop might put him ahead later, similarly when Erling went long I thought his short stop may put him ahead, in short I think my mid-race stop was probably wrong but I was just fast enough that it didn't matter.

So rest of the race went well & I managed to keep it on track except for one moment when I ran up the bank through the fast downhill RH sweeper back towards the final turn, luckily the car stayed on its wheels & regained the track with only a couple of seconds lost. Thanks to all those I lapped for making it easy, after hitting Bob last week I didn't want to take any unneccessary risks.

Congrats to Erling & Dan  clap clap & well done to Erling for wrapping up the championship well before the end, well deserved.  clap thumbup2

If only I could whip you all like that everywhere, but that was on Porto which I seem to have some strange bond with - Tony, we need more Porto races, lots more..  Grin

First off grats to Erling for being the series champion!!!!!     Was a fun race for me.  Had a few "pucker" moments, plus I think it's kindof a quirky track with off camber corners and drop off hills.  Had a couple of cars spin in front of me and also there was following Roger with his blown engine.  Great effects from his car with lots of smoke and flames down the last straight to the pits.  See you all at Spa, have a good holiday Tony....and glad you recovered Kurt....
