Made a silly mistake at Druids and got stuck between an earth embankment and a crash barrier. Race over.

Hi sorry to all drivers race 1 at start, had a mental moment, put car in gear and just sat there not realizing in 2nd gear. Had great drive in Mini and Hillman but just could not get up to speed in Anglia.

Grats to race winners

Grats to podium

The Anglia better here than the previous race, was running in 6th or 7th until an annoying disco in the closing laps.  The Mini race was good by my standards, felt competitive at least and scored a point or two, but it gave me some bad habits for racing the Imp, which I eventually binned after some hairy moments! Apologies to someone for a clumsy on the inside pass at Druids on the opening lap of race 3, when there really wasn't enough room  Sad. Liking the series, and the shorter tracks and race distances.

@ Huggy - During the races I noticed you suffered from random stuttering, not all the time, just a few times per lap. I wondered if someone else was using your internet whilst you were racing? Perhaps lower your shadow setting in-game and check in-lobby which data rate you have selected.

Almost skipped these races; my back's killing me presently, and racing makes it worse. Thus having to prepare for 3 races instead of just one, is very much not what I need.  However, having gotten off to a good start, I decided to stick with it, and glad I did, as last night was some of the best racing in a long time.

Race 1:
Qualified 4th, but was upgraded to 3rd at the start when Roger was napping.  Couldn't match the Minis of Ziu and Bob ahead, so they moved away; Bob at about the same rate as I moved away from Tony behind. Thus looking like a lonely race, but then the gap behind started to drop!! Roger had made it through and was gaining. If I wanted to keep my podium place, I would have to work for it.  Drove as fast as possible, and gap the shrunk sufficiently slowly for me to retain 3rd. Grats to Ziu for win and Bob for 2nd.

Race 2:
Absolutely crazy!!  Qualified 3rd, but jumped Roger's Mini at the start, while I was jumped by Fulvio, and thus remained 3rd.  Thought I was battling Roger early on, but it was in fact Clive, in the same Mini. He found a way past, at the same time as Roger had caught up, and seeming inspired by Clive's pass. Managed to keep him behind, but we were in essence 5 cars battling for the same place(s).  Clive got past Fulvio too, but after two laps more, he tangled with Ziu. Fulvio took avoidance the long way around, while I went for the inside, passing all 3 in one swell swoop, scooping up the lead.  Remaining half of the race was one long, unrelenting chase by Fulvio, where I had to drive to my absolute max to stay in front  sweatdrop  Grats to Fulvio and Roger for the other podium places

Race 3:
Qualified 3rd behind Ziu & Matt's Imps, but was jumped by Fulvio at the start (getting to be a bad habit...  blink)  Matt spun at the end of L1, and early on L2, Fulvio and I both had wobbles, at the same time, but his was bigger, so I slipped past  Smiley  Not sure my nerves would stand for another race being chased by him, but just had to get cracking.  Noticed an Imp behind him after a while, hoping the two gents could keep each other occupied, while I sneaked away.  After a while however, Tony made it past him in his Imp and was gaining, despite my best efforts. He was real close on the final couple of laps, and I fully expected a kamikaze move.  To his credit, it never materialized, and I could hang on to 2nd, with nail and tooth.  Glad the race ended when it did; a few more laps and things would have looked different.  Grats to Ziu for win and Tony for 3rd.

Cheers Tony. Wife may have been using during R1, nothing heavy on the bandwidth though. After that, don't know. Data rate is set OK, will try the "shadows" suggestion, but I have a horrible feeling my range extender - sadly needed, as connecting to main router too slow - is playing up. Trouble is with these things, you have to fork out a tidy sum to find out it doesn't work very well, or won't connect! It's a Netgear one, which are usually OK, and it was fine for the first year or so.  Anyone's suggestion as to a good (UK available) replacement welcome.

Dodgy bussiness using wifi for this stuff. I do in one house, and it only adds a few msec latency
but even with a single wifi jump to the router it can go up and down at times. Mine goes up
to ~50msec when someone walks past the door.... and with an extender, mice farting could
upset it  Grin
I even had a wifi to mains link to router in one house, and mostly it worked ok, but it's not a good plan.

Huggy:
My wife has a "reader tablet" that hooks up to the wifi  if she just turns it on,  it will mess up my racing online.  My checklist before racing is to disable the wifi on the tablet so she can read if she wants to, but I have never had a disco after I started this.  Give it a try might help you also.

It was fun to race again as I usually don’t get chance to race on Mondays now and don’t race in any other series. I felt a bit rusty and couldn’t get my times for any car within one second of my offline practice times for some reason.

Race 1
I couldn’t get to grips with the Anglia, followed Kurt for a while but then he found a rhythm and pulled a comfortable gap. Anyway the race broke the ice for me.

Race 2
I should have done better in the Imp, Just drove poorly. Was following Huggy whose car was doing all sorts of strange things. I had to lift off a couple of times only to see him jump forward down the track. Thought I had passed him once but he suddenly appeared again 10 yards in front of me. How does he do that? I managed a half spin on one occasion then decided to go wide on a few corners and try rallying on grass. I found myself behind Bill T for the closing laps and he was driving so well defending the corners I couldn’t pass until the last corner of the final lap when he covered the inside and I took a chance on the outside. It’s great when a plan comes together, my most fun moment of the evening.

Race 3
It was Mini time. I felt I was just starting to get the hang of things again. My best race apart from a bad start. I concentrated on not making mistakes and driving a steady race rather than being too ambitious and things began to go better. It gave me a thirst for more online racing. Unfortunately I don’t think I can make the next two Mondays but should be OK after that.

Thanks to all and congrats to winners and podiums. clap clap clap

Yes misnoimis, it was good fun unfortunately for me I had 1 click too little of fuel! Roll Eyes As a result of my hard driving, my engine was misfiring as I entered the last long corner and I couldn't accelerate fully around it allowing you to out accelerate to the finishing line.  Cry

Thanks for the additional tips re. connections phspok and Bob, all useful stuff. Sorry a flaky connection caused some woe for others last night. Sadly,  WiFi is the only way I can connect my PC, as the main phone line and therefore the router are two floors down, I'd need a very long Ethernet cable and a big drill Smiley   I can probably persuade Mrs. H to leave any browsing or reading her tablet and just watch TV during the duration of a race, however, with any luck. And considerable diplomacy.  Grin
