grrr, I am pretty miffed after tonights practise session   Angry I really thought I was going to be able to mix it with the big boys up front when I saw their laptimes as I had been doing regular 1:43.2's to 4's and even banged in low 44's on full fuel whilst using offline hotlapping over the end of last week, (where you chase your own ghost car). But get online tonight and the grip was completely different and my setups that I thought I had perfected were next to useless  taz what a flipping waste of time that was!  Roll Eyes

Oh well, back to where I belong  Tongue

Re the Rift, I went to John Lewis in Bluewater over xmas expecting a nice display for it, hooked up to demonstrate, but all they had was it stuck in a poxy small glass case not even wired up!  Sad
I really don't know whether to just buy one and chance it but expensive way of finding out if its going to make me hurl  Grin

I sent you my setup via stracker, but I guess you didn't notice  Smiley.

Can't you just buy and return if you don't like it? A friend of mine bought one and returned it week later without a problem.

You have to book in advance, it seems to only be available when specialist sales staff are around and have setup for you.

I know someone who ordered and received it, didn't like it and simply returned it. (UK)

I meanwhile would never go back to triple monitors.  VR is ace.

Yes, VR is a future. But i'll wait till these devices becomes in more ( up to 2-3 times) in overall picture quality and game support. IMHO it will be in 2-3-4 years later. They should to pass some evolution way. But i appreciate guys who are owned VR today. Sorry that i am not  Smiley

I think cv1 and the current vive are good as an idea of what to expect in the future.

They are both useable if you prefer immersion over sharp graphics.. there is no way you could call them bad atm but yes, they could be better.. i dont put the cv1 on anymore and think woah! This is low res.. it just looks normal to me now.

If anyone is on the fence, go to amazon and buy one, if you dont like it just return it. Simples.

Mark, I'm in West Sussex if you fancy coming over and see how you get on. My bet is that you will get a bit of motion sickness but if you persevere this will go.

I bought a set of Oculus for my son for Christmas and then I asked him to install Assetto Corsa so we could try it out in VR (my graphics card - gtx660 - cannot handle VR). Big mistake on my part... Now I have to buy a new gpu for my computer because I can't get ou of my head how much better it is to drive with VR than with a monitor.  Grin

Damnit. All this talk makes me thinking about VR aswell  Tongue

Ps; I've put my setup on stracker if anyone is interested. Didn't need to change  a whole lot except the gearing

I just don’t know how you guys are getting 1:41’s here, especially on Hards  Shocked Huh
For me the car is awful on Hards despite trying various setup options. I’m alright on meds but the rears turn yellow after about 5 laps  Sad
Gutted as I really wanted to run well in this car  Cry

Sutol..thanks for the kind offer on the VR, may take you up on that if I’m over your way or near sometime soon. Otherwise I’m tempted to buy it from JL’s at £349 and just return it if i don’t get on with it.

I don't think anyone here is doing 41's on hard and race fuel. Softs and low fuel is what I ran.

Was actually surprised at the way the tyres work. Hards stay up to temperature and the softs don't overheat too much.
Not sure how long those hards will last though  Grin

Mark you can always check any single lap on stracker. Click on "Sessions" => http://stracker.simracing.org.uk:50041/sessionstat

Then select the session you want to check clicking on a single line, after that click on the line of the driver you want to 'examinate' and the entire list of the laps done in that single session will appear. If the driver has the ptracker active, you will see even the amount of fuel loaded. If you want to check the tyres used on a specific lap, just click on the line of that lap, and you will get the infos.

All the 41's are with quali fuel and soft tyres Wink

Thanks Matteo, that’s a small relief. Every time I joined the server someone was hurtling around on Hards but with a 1:41 pb showing so assumed it was done on those tyres. I’m still about 2 secs off though in qually trim  Sad yet alone race..  surrender boat
