It's here

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=625&theme=4

You can get there by clicking the A9 series in the series list above, or if you look at the title box that contains the password the title in constructed of several links

January 24, 2018, 06:25:22 PM +0000 - Monza (GP 1955-71) - UKAC Season 9 Porsche 962

The date takes you to the calendar, the Track to a track page, then the last part is also a link to the championship page

We usually include a link to the championship table in the 1st Page for an event
This series seems to be missing it. Can easily be added if wanted.

Thanks. I've always used the bold letters on top of the thread as it's visible everywhere, so I never really noticed the other links  Tongue

Bit surprised only 16 racers turned up for this  Undecided  thought the 962 series would be sold out

Sigh...despite enjoying the giddy heights of 4th and then 6th for about 90% of the race, I still ended up 10th after my late pitstop  Roll Eyes and only that because AnimalEd disappeared with a few mins to go..what happened to Ed?
I took on a tad too much fuel as I finished with 10L left but was still surprised to go from 6th to 10th and minus 27secs!  Shocked Cry  couldn't figure that one out. Was also shocked to read that some like FMG made it the whole race length without stopping, very impressive fuel saving.  I Am Not Worthy

Had some good fun dices early on with my constant shadow of FMG and Frex and a couple of scary '3 into 1-wont-go' moments at Curva Grande  Shocked  the only time I was on my own in the whole race was after my late stop.

Well done to Felix, amazing pace, and the podium  thumbup1

So. Had it not been for flinching at Jeffery appearing alongside me into T1 then I reckon Operation:Eco-Warrior might have pulled it off Cry

Although I had several options ready I choose the no-pit option in the end. It's slower but the times everyone was putting in during practice suggested they were all going for the flat-out approach (They can't all have been running a different setup like I was just to throw everyone else).
The plan was to get off the line, go flat out for a lap so I can avoid any L1 unpleasantness ( I forgot about my own stupidity here censored ) then settle into the routine I'd put together and drive to a number. If anyone caught me they'd be given a free pass and then drafted for as long as my fuel number allowed. Had I pulled this off and been able to draft a front 4 car without smashing my own Aero up I think I'd have still been able to put in high 1:19's without eating into my fuel number.

Sadly I trimmed the hedge in CG and re-joined behind Mark in a second-hand looking 962.
I actually seemed to have some pace on him when I caught him so I went for a pass into Parabolica - which worked - and he then drafted back in front of me towards CG.
I couldn't get drawn into a fight so I just accepted his pace and used him as an in-flight refueller. By half race distance I already had saved enough fuel to maintain my pace even after Mark pitted and easily see the finish.
Then unfortunately Frex span in front of us into my path in Lesmo 1 and I clipped him (Sorry, even watching the replay and knowing it would happen I can't see how I'd have missed you).
After that my aero was knackered, and worse, Mark had got away a bit as a result of my hit.
I spent 2 laps gambling that I could still re-catch him driving flat out to gain a tow again, this showed me how bad the aero was as I was way down on top speed and had some odd handling at lower speeds.
Luckily I regained Mark and proceeded to use him to 're-fill' the tank again. He pitted about when I had broken even Grin

From there on I just had to drive as fast as I could and as cleanly as I could while still conserving fuel. All the while watching Jeffers slowly catching me after his pitstop.
I was trying to calculate where the leader was on track relative to the 40 minutes running out by this point, and decided he wasn't too far from being able to start a final lap.
This scuppered me as I was right on the limit of my range at race pace and I couldn't fight off Jeffery while conserving it - had I known the race was going to end when it did I could have done the last 2 laps flat out and held him off Tongue
But that would have stopped me trying a really inadvisable passing move on him into Para on the last lap, which would have been great had it worked!

I hope we have a few more 'tricky' races like this in the series. I loved the fact that potentially 4 of my 5 setups for the race could have given me a podium spot and I just had to pick the one that no-one else did.
Proper strategy at work for this round.

Thanks to all for the race, and a hello and welcome to Thomas - very well driven I thought when you were a lap down.

We had 2 white cars this round, I'm not sure Ed has a skin which could explain him - but I guess Thomas' wasn't assigned yet on the server? I know I have it installed as I'm also rather fond of it

Was a great race but unlucky!
Decent qualify, I did a good start (from 8 to 3), and I was behind Matteo for 2/3 of the race. I attemped 2 overtakes, but at void, was really hard and Teo with totally cold blood mantain his position really clean. Thanks for the duel Matteo, was really fantastic!
Pit, unfortunately wrong strategy, passed from 3 to 8 (mocky destiny).
I had a little misunderstanding with Alexey at lesmo 1, and lost some seconds again.
Did other good overtakes (one very good against Maikelm, I think, at Curva Grande) and finished 5th.
A bit sad, but I was a bit more fast than Mugello.
Congratz felix, teo and jef. Also FMG, great fuel management!
Cya next time!

This time my result was better than expected.

I'm a donkey in setting up this car, and I think that my gears for the race were completely wrong, but after a desperate attempt with a shorter fifth gear I managed to cut a couple of tenths and that granted me the third spot in qualif. Felix in the meantime was on another planet.
My start was good but I was a bit cautious during the first lap especially at Lesmo 1, so I could not exploit any slipstream by Felix, that disappered lap after lap. Luckily behind me something must have happened because after Lesmo 2 I had a couple of seconds of gap on Porco to manage.
My pace was good but not enough if compared to Porco, that lap after lap completed his come back after mid-race, so we had a close fight for a couple of laps, in which I had to defend myself tooth and nail to keep my position. Than Porco pitted before me and I was reasoning about an immediate pit on the subsequent lap not to lose his back, but eventually I opted to stay out trying to keep a constant pace until the lap 26 or 27, when I did my splash and go. Luckily after the pit I noticed that something went wrong for Porco during these laps or during the pit, so my last laps were pretty quiet with nobody to fight against.
Can't complain at all with my result.
Thanks to Porco for the fun and grats to Felix for a crushing victory. Grats also to Jeff for completing the podium and to FMG for the fuel saving strategy. Well done Smiley

See you chaps Smiley

That was great fun tonight.

View from the mid-pack: - My strategy was keep out of trouble for 3 laps, pop into the pits for a top up, then hotlap, don't get in a tangle with any faster passing cars and hopefully pickup a decent place.  Sort of went to plan.

Qualified 9th, found myself in 5th early, but stuck to the plan.  Came out of the pit in 13th.  Passed some and was passed by others.   Later on twice went a bit wide at Lesmo 2, the second time letting PorcoRosso86 and Maikel K through.  Finished up 7th, which was an improvement on Mugello, so happy with that.

Really enjoyed this track in this great car.  The fuel situation gave it a nice extra dynamic.   Let's hope the fuel tank isn't quite big enough at Silverstone '67 also.
