Moderator's Report

A dominant win for Axel Cookie as well as taking pole and fastest lap. John Hammonds landed the runner up spot while Bastian Grupp raced to the final step of the podium.

After a few races without any reported incidents, two have been reported this round. Details are reported below.

Server replay time: 0h00m50s

On the first lap, Dave Rainier brakes early for first turn, surprised by Dave Curtis' pass on the inside. Billy Nobrakes caught out by the early braking on Dave's behalf, spears into the back of Dave, despite his best efforts to avoid the collision. Pepe Higdon collects the two in sympathy.

This would typically be a rear end shunt on Bill's behalf, but Dave did brake especially early, even considering this was the first lap. On several laps I did note Bill typically had a higher corner entry speed into the first turn compared to Dave, and this was exasperated by the circumstances on the first lap.

I was in two minds about penalising Bill on this given the circumstances, but Dave has requested no penalty to be given on this incident. Hence, no penalty will be applied.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h08m25s

Onto the approach of the first turn, Dave Ranier is attempting to pass Fran Molteni. Dave achieves partial overlap on the approach to the turn, but Fran takes his normal racing line into the turn, squeezing Dave on the apex and the two collide.

This is a tricky one. Dave was just short of the 50% overlap for a pass when Fran began to squeeze him. Fran typically took a tight line into turn one which contributed towards the contact. Had Fran maintained a wider line however, Dave would have had over 50% when the two began braking for the first turn. The first turn is tricky one to pass due to it's fast nature, but Dave's attempt wasn't unreasonable.

I am leaning on calling this one a racing incident. If Fran had shown more awareness to Dave attempting the pass, by running a wider line the two could have avoided colliding. However, Dave could have exercised more caution to passing Fran. It was going to need cooperation of Fran's part to make the pass work.

Last season,in a race at Mosport,i was penalized for an overtake done. The comtact was between the 2 front tires
In another race at Zamdvort i have done 34 laps behind another car without the possibility to do a safe overtake.
Can i blame the other pilot? In my opinion no,he have done his race defending his position.

It is not possible to compare two different situations, we need to see the replays.
(Thanks Axel for the link but it is asking to create a user ...and I don't like to do this on the net)

If the rule becames;when you have a car behind slow down we can,or i can, stop to race.

I am not speaking about changing rules. It's not my role to define new rules.
I am just speaking about what it seems (for me) the best to avoid incident.

I should not wrote "slow down and carefully turn", I did a mistake.
It would be better to write "turn leaving enough place for the other car if it can't go elsewhere than in your car or on the wall."
Of course, you can defend your position but, to my opinion, not on the last moment when it's too late.

By the way, the moderator will decide. If he says I am wrong, there will be no problem for me.
if he says YOU are wrong, I hope you will not speak again about a "moderators conspiration"  laugh
Just remember, I am not moderating races this season.

Dave,i have already explained that in this curve i must stay to the apex to not finish in the grass,so in which way i can turn living way?
Probably is easy for you but not for me.Was a problem to wait a better place? After few laps my mistake have gived you road.
I have had some problem with the wheel but i don't know how much was my wheel and a possible damage during the incident.
The result was that the car was very difficult to control during the turn.

That sendspace link looks like it should be ok for me too (although didn't need to download it at work!)
However, I expect Dave was referring to the replay link in the 1st post:
ftp.ukgpl9.co.uk:32122/Season32/67F1%20Privateers/

Does indeed prompt for a username/password.
Anonymous ftp is not accepted.

Cheers,
Dave.

That's odd. When I click the link there is no prompt for any password? Thanks Axel for posting a second link.

I can see there's disagreement between Dave & Fran. I can only suggest to report the incident if you don't see eye to eye and we'll look into it. It's what we're here for after all.

Francesco had already reported the incident.
That's why I reacted.

Now I can download the replay. Thanks.

It's a pity there have been no moderation for this race, until now.
Depending if I'll be penalized or not, it will change my strategy and my motivation for the last 2 races.

Yes apologies for the delay Dave. I've just finished moderating the incident on my part but it wasn't a clear cut incident so would prefer to get some additional opinions before I publish it.

No problem Sam. I understand !
By the way, even if I prefer when things are clear (I speak about the exact number of points) I will do my best to win on Porto track  Wink
