Season 32 Sports Car Trophy – Round 7 -  Nürburgring

To the 7th round of the Sport Car Trophy we go to the Nürburgring.
THE most challenging Grand Prix circuit, in 1967 the Prototypes and GTs drove 1000km there!

Race List =  IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP Address = look at IGOR
Race date = 16-01-2018
GPL mod = 67GT
60fps patch used = 60fpsV1
Track = Nürburgring
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Race length = ~50 min -> 6 laps
Damage Model = Int 1x shift+r allowed, followed by a stop+go.
Replay = https://www.sendspace.com/file/5eyjhh

Driver lists and divisional rules can be found on the championship standings page

Only reported incidents will be moderated, there is no Red Zone.

Handicapping and chassis allocation.
This season the Sports Car Trophy will be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page. Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens.  The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total).  Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement.  See below.
Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

You're going to need at least 8.9 cms of ride height in the heavier cars. There seems to be diminishing returns once you raise the car much more than 10 cms. At that point, it's better to stiffen the springs.

If you don't use the tire pressure patch, you need to release the brakes completely before hitting the concrete at the Karussell. Otherwise I always drag one locked wheel around it.

I thought if there was any circuit the tire pressure patch might yield better times, this would be the track. Well, it doesn't. I'm 5 seconds slower with the patch in the GT40 Mark 1. The tire's rolling resistance must be significantly higher with the patch. I can brake later and harder with the patch but that still won't allow me to post lower times. Any points on the track where the speed is somewhat high, I can hear the engine turning noticeably faster without the patch.

With the patch, I'm also 5 kph slower at the end of the long straight in the Mk. 1.

I think the patch does make the car drive more realistically. I would say it makes it easier too but is it easier when I see such a difference in lap times. The patch does seem to eliminate the brake bug. If I wanted to enter a race with no practice or setup, I'd use the patch. If I have a setup and a little practice, no patch is going to be faster.

I should have tested this with the Mirage since I struggle so much with it at Nurburgring.

I'll be in the Mark 1 today.

You know that some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same

That was rubbish - The Ferrari was a pig to drive as I didn't manage to make a decent setup in time, Was OK I guess until 'The' tree at Foxhole removed my front right wheel.
I limped the rest of the way home, going from 2nd to 5th and back up to 3rd after some late exits by the people I let through Grin

Wish I'd used the Lola - at least that was drivable when I made it for the rank videos....

Well done Tris on a fine win and to Dave for being consistant enough to claim the 2nd spot.
Also well done Doni , can't have been easy taming an evil car if you were struggling to see! Shocked

Hi all,

was a bit faster than expected but the benchmark is still some seconds away.

With more fuel than in quali, i touched ground at fuchsröhre (first s/F) and later messed up my car on the kink after döttinger höhe straight.

To finish 2nd is a good result but I am not hapy with my laptimes.
With the 910, my PB is 8mn45sec but yesterday I did all laps between 8:55 and 9:05

Maybe, as wrote GregT, it is due to the tyres patch  ?

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

 Grin...it was important to be first at turn one ...so I was happy whith the pole and a good start ...( but not happy whith my qualif time and race time also :/ )......lap after lap , the gap growing and I try to stay focus ,not easy on a lonely Nurbur race.... Cheesy....so, not taking risk ....to the end ....
thx all and org.
