: 2017 WTCC

Weather: Dry

Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit-stops: None required

Server: Simracing.org.uk WTCC
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the relevant Track Packs for this series
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.
[/quote]
(6) Start procedure
*It will be the pole sitter's responsibility to complete the first lap at a pace that allows the rest of the grid to follow comfortably
*There should be no overtaking or hard accelerating/braking
*Drivers should avoid getting too far behind or too close to the driver in front
*Approximately 20 seconds before crossing the start line the pole sitter should slow down to a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*Each following driver shall close up directly behind the driver in front also maintaining a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*The pole sitter should maintain that speed until they cross the start line and then accelerate away to start the race (lap2)
*Each following driver should only accelerate when the driver directly ahead does (they do not have to wait until crossing the start line)
*No overtaking is allowed before crossing the start line at the completion of the formation lap

Ouch. Idle hands make light work. or is it electricity? umm something like that.

These 2017 cars handle way more realistically than those horrible 2013 things I used once
There are only very slight differences between these cars that I can feel, could be they just sound
different. No idea why the VOlvo is £3 somethin, and the others are 26 pence? maybe the
VOlvo is a "luxury" car  Roll Eyes

Earlier versions of the Chevy, Citroen, Honda and Lada have all been in the game for awhile, so I guess development costs are less for these cars. The Volvo was new last year I think. Having said that the Volvo is £3.09 for me, and the others £2.65. Isn't 26p just the cost of extra skins?

Anyway, I have a little credit so may pick up one of these and tag along..

The server is set for practice for tomorrow nights race, time to get into front wheel drive mode!

Don't forget we will be having a different race format for this series, a 15 minute sprint immediately followed by a 20 minute Feature race

Perhaps I already had the cars, but it didn't show any as available, and I had to buy each of them.

You dont have to buy all of them, just the one you want to race.

This track is tricky, the long corners of Brands made it easier to drive but this requires sharp changes of direction making it hard to control. Keep loosing it into the first corner!

Wow, crazy tyre wear - was everyone's front left flashing red after less than 10 minutes? Got a puncture on the last lap of the second race, so going to have to find a better way to manage the tyres somehow..

Congrats podia.

I think I got just passed 10 mins in the 1st race before the front left went yellow. Took it a bit more careful in the 2nd but I did have the flashing red tyre warning for the last 2 or 3 laps.

I installed new nVidia drivers yesterday so basically spent all of practice trying to a) get sound out of my speakers b) run the game fullscreen not using the monitor's native resolution. The first I gave up and used the speakers on the monitor, the second I gave up and ran at the full 4K resolution. After the game I tried again to fix these and succeeded with a reboot. However I had tried that as one of my tests during the practice, no idea why the second reboot worked. Darn frustrating sometimes these computers of ours.

My tyres were a lot better, In the first race i only had the left front go yellow with 5 mins to go and in the second, i had both fronts go yellow, with the right-front turning with a few mins to go.

But i'm consciously trying to take it easy on the fronts so i take corners a bit differently and try not to get on it too early as i find if your too aggressive on the throttle the inside tyre just spins.

Never really got near my fastest times during the race, don't know how Pete was popping in regular fastest laps!
