Moderator's Report

Second win of the season for Dave Rainier, with a typically composed drive. Dave Curtis brought his Brabham to a strong second place. Billy Nobrakes originally rounded the podium, but a poor rejoin during the race with the resulting penalty has promoted Jack O'Ferrall to his first podium on his return, adding to Lord Loot's trophy cabinet.

Just one reported incident this race from Bill himself.

Server replay time: 0h11m27s

Bill loses it on the approach to Crowthorne corner and has an adventure in attempting to rejoin. Moving his car to the inside line he nearly gets collected by Jack O', and shortly after gets hit by Fran causing him to spin again. This time on the rejoin he moves across the track just as Bastian is coming across and the two make contact at terrific speed.

Bill has admitted fault with this and was hasty with his rejoin. I can only recommend to use Pribula to judge the distance of other competitors as well as assigning the look left & right buttons to the steering wheel if possible.

Season 32 Privateers Trophy – Round 8 - Kyalami

For the eighth round of the season we go to a familiar track. Kyalami Racing Circuit (from Kyalami, My home in Zulu) is a motor racing circuit located in Midrand, Gauteng province, South Africa. The circuit has been used for Grand Prix and Formula One races and has hosted the South African Grand Prix many times. Among the Formula One races held at the track the 1977 South African Grand Prix stands out, as it is principally remembered for the fatal accident that claimed the lives of race marshal Frederick Jansen van Vuuren and driver Tom Pryce. In recent years, the area surrounding the circuit has developed into a residential and commercial suburb of Johannesburg.

IMPORTANT: it is policy of UKGPL to have the original pitstraight armco installed at this original track! Failure to apply the pitwall & drive in that space may result in disqualification. Follow these instructions to restore the wall if you have a mod that has removed it:
METHOD 1: To place a wall between the pits and the track, rename or remove the kyalami.trk and kyalami.3do files from your kyalami folder.
METHOD 2: To reinstall the original Papyrus Armco, rename or remove the Armco_s.mip file from your kyalami folder.

Note the Privateers division is run on Intermediate damage settings. Drivers are permitted 1 Shift R followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within 2 laps. Failure to make a stop will result in a 30 second time penalty. If you require a stop & go on the final lap & are unable to complete a time penalty of 15 secs is added.

Regrettably, I must withdraw from the remainder of the season. I'm traveling the length of South America with a group of motorcyclists. I thought I would be able to bring along a Sim Raceway wheel but the daily schedule and the lack of practice time (not to mention questionable wi-fi service) make my further efforts impossible. I hope to be back for Season 33, however.

Good luck to all of you. I have truly enjoyed my time in the league. Hasta la vista! Cheesy

Wow Pepe, that is a massive adventure! Good luck, I hope you have a great time. Makes my trip to France this summer on my Triumph Explorer look very tame in comparison. Let us know how you get on.

Well, that was disappointing. Sad

Qualified well in 1st and it all seemed to be going oh so well for the 1st few laps, having built a respectable gap back to 2nd then I completely forgot how to drive. 1st losing the rear into Crowthorne removing a wheel on the banking, so after a shift-r and S&G I found myself in 3rd behind Dave Rainier and Dave Curtis. Managed to get past Dave C at Leeukop and gave chase on Dave R only to completely mess up Sunset and remove another wheel.

Oh well My Mom told me there would be days like this.

See you all at Porto

Not my day,
in quali my best lap did not count after a big flash had occured...
Waiting for the grid there was no green button,
so I had little motivation on this track starting out of the pit, 1 min + 1 lap down Roll Eyes

For me was the best qualy of the season but not the best race.I was started with the intention to not do error but at lap3,if i remeber well, the error is arrived. i woke up at 5 in the morning and after a day on the ski i have partecipated to the the race this could be my justification. Cheesy

I struggeld with my Honda in the first part of the race, because i adjusted my gears, but for the honda it wasn't the right move.
This was a shame because i had the speed of the front runners.

Once, Billy rejoined into me after T1, i was confused a bit ??

I was very lucky to win at Kyalami !

John was not running in the same category than other drivers (including me).
And Dave C. was quicker than me.
He only tried once time to overtake me and I can thank him to not have taken big risks !

I was very tired because I just finished another 34 laps race in Mexico (with F1legends league) and I used a very bad setup (with a too long 5th gear).
I am only satisfied to made no mistakes during the race, but I was so slow.
