Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h00m45s

Sorry for the delay in getting to this one.
From the start line grid Arf makes an exceptionally good start. He takes a path across the track to take the space to the left of Doni. Doni himself drfifts left to avoid Fulvio. In Doni's mirror you can see Arf disappear into the blind spot. Doni probably should have apreciated Arf was to his left but may not have realised how quickly Arf was travelling. Arf only had minor overlap & the contact was caused by Doni squeezing his space. Arf might have anticipated that Doni would ease left & could have backed off a little. It did seem like a great passing opportunity, but races are never won on the first lap. Doni's race ended as did Jethro who was an unfortunate victim.

As per the rules "On a straight, the overtaking car moves out to overtake, maintains his line and has NOT achieved 100% overlap but the overtaken driver moves across into him. Penalty for overtaken driver." A penalty for Doni would achieve little as he had an early exit.

Season 32 Works Trophy – Round 8 –  Kyalami

For the eighth round of the season we go to a familiar track. Kyalami Racing Circuit (from Kyalami, My home in Zulu) is a motor racing circuit located in Midrand, Gauteng province, South Africa. The circuit has been used for Grand Prix and Formula One races and has hosted the South African Grand Prix many times

IMPORTANT: it is policy of UKGPL to have the original pitstraight armco installed at this original track! Failure to apply the pitwall & drive in that space may result in disqualification. Follow these instructions to restore the wall if you have a mod that has removed it:
METHOD 1: To place a wall between the pits and the track, rename or remove the kyalami.trk and kyalami.3do files from your kyalami folder.
METHOD 2: To reinstall the original Papyrus Armco, rename or remove the Armco_s.mip file from your kyalami folder.

I would like to drive in this race, so I voted in the season thread. Can someone process that so I can see the password for the race?

Good start wiped out by some suspect driving from yours truly.

Brain fade on my part. Shifted into an imaginary 6th gear on the pit straight and blew the engine  Roll Eyes.

My missed "shoulda" for this one was lengthening 1st and 2nd so they didn't get quite the beating thru Clubhouse. Lap 7 I went looking for a deck chair.

Sorry to hear guys...

Had a great night, first another Cooper PB in quali, and a great race!

Had a taller 1st gear than at most races, basically for Clubhouse, and knew I was vulnerable at the start. Also had a more conservative gearing than in quali for engine management.

Alain had a better start and led. I barely could hang on, losing on the main straight, and then trying to gain some back at the infield. Only when Alain made some little mistakes I could get closer, but never a chance for a pass or even an attempt...Alain drove very well until he went wide out of BBQ bend and lost momentum. However me being on the outside didn't want to go two wide through Jukskei, since it's basically a single file corner. So I lifted, but Alain insisted I took the lead after his mistake. Pushed hard after that, set a few personal fast laps and had enough margin leading up to the main straight. Also Alain made some mistakes last few laps.

Very hard fought win. IMO Alain deserved to win leading most of the race, and I was lucky when he was very courteous after his mistake. Thanks for a great race Alain! Smiley

Also well done Bob and finishers! Commiserations to the DNF's. Thanks to Jethro for server duties Wink

Wouldn't mention this, but if 50% rule is in effect it could be the difference between scoring and not scoring.
I thought there was more time at the end of q so I was on the setup screen when actual start took place. I started from the pits which meant my first lap didn't count. So I think I did 19 laps instead of 18. By that point I had caught up to the back of Andrea's car when my engine exploded on the pit straight, right as I entered, I think lap 20.
And the late setup change wasn't even worth it, I increased pressure on the front tires and ended with a red front left tire almost the entire race.

Tonight I had a problem that never happened before since I use 60fps.
Qualy all worked good with 60fps steady also with Pribluda on and cars around. When I went to the start grid i was locked to 30fps. My start was a bit difficult cause input on the wheel had some lag so the car had a pendulum behavior for some seconds till I managed to keep it straight , but the speed suffered and the cars behind went very close and I saw in my replay that there was a collision and a couple of cars ended their race. Sorry guys, I had nowhere to go cause I had the rail coming on my right so I couldn't move over.
I hoped that after the start the 30fps would have increased, but nothing, it stayed steady till the end also without cars around me. Only in a couple of occasions it went to 60fps for some seconds and then returned to 30fps.
My eyes were very grateful tearing for all the race, it made me return in the early days of GPL in '99 when I had a PII 350 without a Voodoo card, too bad I'm not 43 years old.
Ciao

 Wink Hello gui's

Bravo Robert and bravo to all.

With the advantage of the frame, I even am not to manage to beat Mister Fleurke, that I am bad!!!!!!!!

Well it is necessary to say that even with a chard of assault, he goes very fast, thus it is a girl desception in the end.
Already I finish my race, and his for me it is a victory.

Thanks to all and in organizer, see you soon

A reasonable race for me, the first one in a while and I was on the edge in the early laps.  Starts are generally disorientating and I got too close to Robert entering Sunset L1, hit the brake too hard, my chair shot back and I lost it!  Need to secure my chair better for future races.

Was surprised to catch Tris later on, only possible due his errors: driving and setup.  We had a battle for a few laps before he pulled away but another moment saw him back behind me.  I'd actually settled down after a crazy start but found myself off the circuit a few times as Tris started to catch me again.  Thankfully managed to hold 3rd to the flag.

Shame the issues at the start took so many out, can happen tho.

Thanks for organizing, see you in Porto.

In your defense I took quite a conservative entry -even on Lap 1- to hit the apex and to have an early exit. Wasn't aware you were that close behind. Glad you recovered Wink
