Bugger it’s never straightforward  Roll Eyes I’ve just been on the rift website and it says 3x usb 3 Ports required plus one hdmi. Does that mean I now have to buy a pci card like Felix linked too to get usb 3 ports? I didn’t really want to spend a load more money ontop of the pricey rift  Roll Eyes

You have to have USB3 for the headset and in theory for at least one of the sensors.

As mentioned, the HDMI port on your MoBo won't work as it isn't attached to you graphics card.

USB3.1 Gen 2 keep up Mark! Lol

If you have at least usb3 your fine, the sensors work perfectly ok in usb2

there's what?!  Shocked   Grin

good news is I have 4x usb 3.0 ports and 1x2.0 (with a further 4x2.0 extender hub) and think I have one HDMI or DVI slot left free on my gfx card. So hopefully I am covered.

Will try and set this up tonight, I decided to order a usb3 pci-e card to get the extra high speed ports (ala Felix’s link - thanks for the tip!  Smiley )
Expecting a ball ache! but hope it all runs and configures smoothly  Undecided

Where do you guys place your sensor(s) to suit a normal seated position at a desk with your wheel/pedals? Asking because when I was setting it up it kept telling me to move further away into the room when standing, so thinking I may have problems when I sit much closer.
Not sure I’ll get to grips with it (and prob not the ideal track being banked) before Rockingham Sunday, but I’ll try it out.

Can't help you with the rest, but next AC is at Kyalami.

I only have one sensor (original package without Touch) and it's just next to my monitor. Approx 1 metre from my head position when racing, works fine.

Mine were precariously balanced on top of a speaker in the case of one, and on top of a gropro display box perched on top of my PC for the other  Grin
Probably why I suffered movement when otherwise I was dead still...

I've quite literally just finished wall mounting them so will see if that stabilises things at all once I've gone back though the setup program.

The recommendation is generally to have them about a meter away but seperated a sensible amount. If you use just one then stick it centrally in line with your wheel but raised enough to clearly see you.
Don't set up the guardian thing, it really annoys me in AC when I get out to have a look at what I'm driving!

* EDIT *

Who would have thought it?
Securely mounting kit that measures to micron-ish accuracy fixes my wondering head problem when using 2 sensors Grin
Happy chap now, just got to tidy the bleedin cables away

I have one sensor only and it is placed centrally just above and just behind my monitor.

When I first set it up in Oculus, I stood behind my seat and had the sensor pointing towards my head.  Then when it was calibrated, I adjusted the sensor so it was pointing towards my head when sitting in the seat.  Works perfectly.

Press CTRL+Spacebar and that will set it to the default position, just make sure you are looking in the right firection.

I close my eyes, fiddle in my seat until i feel like im facing fwd then i press ctrl+space

Then on the apps look for a helmet and that will alter your seat position set it where you want.. i usually set it so if i lean fwd my head hits my real wheel when it does in the game..

Also, if i look down i can see the drivers lap.. somewhere in between is about right..

Edit: just turn your head a lot and it will appear, make sure you put the resolution to 1920x1080, no point setting it higher.

Yeah thanks Chris, it was the resolution that was wrong so now on 1930x1080. Apps are hard to get at but managed to adjust my seat.

Like others, I was blown away sitting in the cockpit of a 962 looking around me  Shocked Cool
No problems with motion sickness though I feel it gives me eye strain which may be an issue after a long day at work using a screen.
The big neg is the resolution compared to what I’m used to with the triples but have read that most don’t notice it after a while. Does look a little 1990’s arcade pixelation, hopefully my brain will filter it out.  The immersion factor is stunning. Will try an open cockpit car next. Love the way you can look to the apex’s more now too and means more cornering accuracy hopefully.

Sit in something from the 60's and have a good look around - The 917 is a good place to start Wink
There's also something hugely endearing about the 595 Abarth in VR Grin
