UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Joe Shaw Memorial 2018 - Leipzig - Apr 8th

Season 32 JSMT Trophy – Practice race - Leipzig

A practice race for round 3 of the JSMT uses the 65 cars around a street circuit. There are different surfaces with tarmac and cobbled roads, with narrow sections and wider sections...tight bends and fast sweeping curves....oh! and the occasional lampost   But on the plus side the architecture is very interesting with plenty of old buildings to look at if you have time.
This practice race will use the 65 cars, which will also be used in the points scoring race next Sunday.

Ripped the front left off on something - no idea what, tried to continue but my 2nd lap on 3 wheels just highlighted how silly I was being Sad

I was well outclassed in this one but managed to finish without a shift-R.

Grats to Dean on a great win.  I thought I had messed it up for you when I made a silly mistake when you were about to lap me (for the second time) and you had to take to the grass. Pleased to see you held on for the win.  Amazing fight back from Rob.  He passed me 3 times LOL.

Everything went wrong on lap 1. Didn't see the starter/official, thanks to my wider horizontal FOV for triple screens (vertical FOV is smaller then).

So, missed the start, tight grid didn't help, and then also got oversteer in T2 in traffic, lifting off too much with my agressive diff, dropping to the very rear. Then 3-5 cars went off at the second chicane, I slowed a bit, but one car just drove in front of me back on track! Maybe it was the aftermath of the crashes there but in the race it pissed me off and it looked rather silly. Felt I had damage but only resetted a lap later. Also a stop & go meant I was about 35s back from the lead!  Roll Eyes

I tried my hardest and climbed up the order, but also made too many mistakes. Even though catched up with Dean late race, but made a few silly mistakes throwing a chance away for the win.

Luck wasn't on my side today, and also wasn't driving at my best. It wasn't for my efforts though, I tried hard, maybe too hard, and then also didn't want to take out Dean. When I caught up with him went alongside once, but then made some silly mistakes/decisions, instead of being patient.

Dean deserved that win, I had my chances! Well done mate! Smiley As I said before you're driving better than ever it seems, and you deserve to win the Joe Shaw Memorial Trophy!  Cool

Grats to Dean for holding off a determined Robert in the last few laps. I watched the chase and the battle, great racing guys. Like Robert said just a small mistake lost him of the chance to make a serious move for the lead. Dean defended fairly as far as I could see and took a well deserved win. I bet Dean is glad that I did not make this a 40 lap race which had been my original idea  Roll Eyes

Very busy in real life at the moment and had no chance to polish the BT7 handling, which showed. Clipped the bales on Lap 1 and might well have been the start of yet another crash fest.  My record is not looking good lately!!  Undecided Apologies to all who suffered.

Started closing on leading group but basically over driving the BT7 instead of caressing it through corners, but with Doni hunting me down I was under some pressure lol. Then Robert recovered from his SnG and after replacing Doni in my mirrors was inspecting my tail pipes, until I tried just a little too hard to stay ahead and blew the engine.
Did a Sng for that, then ripped a wheel off and another SnG, tried ripping a different wheel off just to see if that side of the car was stronger ( it wasn't!! ) another SnG.  Should have quit but the numbers were dwindling so I stayed on track to keep some cars circulating until I made yet another mistake and decided to call it "game over".

I feel like an idiot now - I'd completely forgotten during the race that we could use Shift-R  Embarrassed
