Moderator's Report

A great win for Fulvio Policardi around the streets of Adelaide. Dean took the runners up spot and Clive rounded the podium, despite an interesting last lap between the pair of them.

Dave Rainier provisionally too the Privateers trophy this time out, but a collision with Fran paid to that unfortunately. The resulting penalty gives the win to Dave Curtis.

Three incident reports this time out. Findings are below:

Server replay time: 0h02m39s

Bob gets a better exit out of the last corner and tries to pass Fran on the pit straight. The torque of the Maserati engine keeps Fran level with Bob as they approach the chicane. Fran, unsighted to where Bob is, takes his line as if Bob wasn't alongside him. Bob does his best to avoid by moving closer to the pit wall but contact was inevitable with Fran taking his line.

This situation has occurred many times, with the same driver unfortunately. I may sound like a stuck record, but this is why Pribula is such a useful tool as the mirrors in GPL aren't fantastic. Listening to other driver's engine note can help too. If in doubt, don't move across the circuit.

Bob didn't do anything wrong, his attempt at a pass was legitimate. Unfortunately the blame in this instance has to lay with Fran.

Server replay time: 0h04m39s

Billy gets caught out of Jack 'O's braking point into Wakefield turn. Despite slamming on the anchors, he gives Jack the lightest of touches which causes Jack to pirouette.

Jack's braking point was consistent on this lap with his others. Bill typically braked later on his clear laps. Simple rear end shunt on Bill's part.

I've applied a one place penalty on this one due to Bill's efforts at avoiding the collision.

Server replay time: 0h10m13s

Dave Rainer goes into Rundle road a bit hot this lap and collects Fran up ahead. Fran typically takes a wide line at the corner and didn't deviate on this lap. Dave typically took more corner speed than Fran on his other laps, but it was debatable whether he would have made the corner given the extra speed he took on this lap. Fran was an innocent victim in this instance.

After have watched replay I found the Dean-Clive show at last lap that explained why they ended so far when they were for all the race 7-8 sec. behind me.  Grin

Grats to Fulvio on a good win, I was hoping for a nice battle, but I pushed too hard, too soon.
After a dumb mistake in the early laps I had chased down Dean several times during the race, but always ran wide just before I caught him and dropped back again. I now know that I had damaged my car in the early incident and the rear left tyre became over heated whenever I pushed hard.
But, I just about kept the car on track in the final laps and eventually got on to Dean's tail as we started the final lap, so I had to stay close and hope for a chance to pass. We exited the chicane and fired up to the right hander and Dean took a defensive line, quite legitimately. So I tried a wide entry to try and carry a little more speed through the apex, but Dean got a little wobble on the brakes and my estimate of his trajectory and speed got screwed.
As a result I could not avoid nudging his gearbox and spinning him out. I knew that there was a big gap back to 4th place so I waited for him to recover, but he appeared to be stuck in the hay bales? So I drove across the track to try and nudge him free ( or was it to finish the job and knock one of his wheels off??  Roll Eyes ).
Not sure if he escaped himself, or if I did help, but he got going and was able to retain his place and I cruised in behind.

Without my repeated spins and offs I might have caught Fulvio, but it would have been better to stay on track in the first place!!  Undecided

I'd managed to rock myself free just as you arrived. "Sportsman of the Day" awarded to you, sir!

Well, it would have been very bad form to take out the winner of the Joe Shaw Memorial Trophy 2018 on the last lap.........?? Roll Eyes  My evil reputation might have suffered!!!

Congratulations Dean  Grin
