Did some laps this afternoon in the BRM (33.2), but I simply do not enjoy driving the BRM or Honda, as I do enjoy the Cooper. Love that car. Changed my previous setup a bit, and wasn't able to beat my PB. Was close though. Still pole, and knew with Sam in the Ferrari it would be hard to hold him off.

Had a rather shaky lap 1, but held on to the lead. When the tires came in had a nice managable pace, and Sam had made a mistake. Kept on managing tires and engine, but overdid it and lost focus. Made some mistakes, more than Sam and finally Sam caught me at the end of the race. From then on overdrove the car. My tires got too hot, missed my apex a lot and also exited too violently spinning up the rears. Had a bad exit out of T1 last lap, wheelspin and sideways, and Sam had a good run and blasted by me with a nifty move through the kink. Almost braked too late but was able to avoid Sam who gave room anyway. Tried to get a good exit out of the final tight corner for an ultimate tow effort, but went sideways again...

Well deserved win Sam, great pace! I'm annoyed with my driving at times, just overdrove it way too much, and shot myself in the foot. That said, it was great having Sam chasing me, and his win was on merit. He was the better driver and showed true grit Smiley Also well done Tris, and finishers!

Great job Andreas for being vice-champion, and Tris/Doni for 3rd, pending moderation if I did understand Doni's chat well enough Wink

Thanks all for racing this season, and thanks to Billy and Sam for moderating. Also thanks to Jethro, Phil and Axel for their servers!  thumbup1

Finally, I can say...Big grats Robert, superb season 32 thumbup1 ...& thanks for your help so I could be with you today.
Neither Explorer or Edge could remember password to Forum & embarrassing, I could'nt get new password because...I could'nt remember which email address I had used Cheesy

Too bad that happened so much last year & when I finally got started, my G27 steering wheel broke off...in GTL Roll Eyes
Good to be with you again, regardless of my race, I only got a few laps...CRASH Shocked

Qual:
Before the race I reached 2 laps before the server closed. Drove qual with race setup & was surprised to start #5

Race:
Got a good start...a few meters. Who had thrown oil so I came straight back to the pit ? laugh totally strange.
Already on the first lap, I'm back to the field & have some funny laps...now I don't really know what exactly happened, maybe a Brab out of course gives me a 'little' puff  Cool

Grats to Sam & to you on the podium  thumbup2, & thanks to a couple of Brab...I think you gave room so I could easily get past.  Wink

Hi all

I still drove like a jerk.  Sad
I had a very nice car, but now, not even to the checkered flag, no one.
Congratulations to Robert for the championship and congratulations to all.

Thank you to the administrators and organizers.  Smiley

Clive - what happened to you - I was trying..and failing..to keep you at a distance. Then suddenly in my mirrors I saw you flying off at speed - looked like a disco?

Congrats to Rob for the championship, hope to be able to appear more consistently next season..

Grats Robert, still the guy to beat in these ( and many other) cars!!

I confess that this season has been a non event for me. After all my PC problems, Season 32 in general has been a washout so I was quite happy to start at the back of the grid and avoid getting in anyone's way as the final championship places were decided.

The only glitch that I still have to overcome is with my G25 which is reluctant to calibrate correctly, without repeated reboots. So I was driving this race with a steering wheel that was 10 degrees off centre....something that I find difficult to cope with.

The Brabham was a default choice and I had no setup, so played around in quali to get some feeling into the beast. By the time the race started, it was better but far from ideal and the flaws became evident after around 5 laps with the left rear overheating and the front tyres refusing to heat up.
Braking and steering were both compromised and it took a while to find a way to drive a car with wonky steering and poor cornering Undecided.

Gradually the lap times came down, but I was frustratingly aware that there were whole seconds to be gained if I could get things sorted.
I was hauling in Arf3, but very concious that I was treading a tightrope and it was difficult not to push for that slightly later braking and fractionally faster exits  Wink............until ambition overcame ability just when I had got onto Arf3's tail, and I pushed the braking just a little too hard and ran wide, ripping off a rear wheel, race over.

Aha...nae luck

I had a problem with my G25 insisting that 0 degrees was really about 15 degrees off centre for a while. In the end I totally uninstalled it, got the latest drivers etc etc, and it's never troubled me since. I suspect you've done all this a million times with all the issues you've been having, but thought I'd mention it...

Congrats on a very convincing win this season Rob! You're the benchmark for me and I'm sure for many other drivers and the trophy was thoroughly deserved.

This race was one of my better efforts this season, though I still managed a couple of spins. I thought I blew it after my first one but with my car advantage over Rob's humble Cooper I very slowly clawed the gap down. It was a very intense last few laps. As Rob mentioned I managed to get a better drive out of the first turn on the last lap the slingshot past into the lead. It was good to salvage a win in what has been a very trying season.

Hopefully I will be able to attend more races next season. For one reason or another I couldn't make a few this season. I also need to invest in a new shifter, my trusty g25 unit is showing its age and is having a nasty habit of selecting first gear in game when I shift it into 3rd! Made some hairy driving under braking this round. It's a wonder the engine lasted the distance. Until next time chaps, thanks for the racing.

Grats on the win, Sam, and HEY...  A win is a win is a win.  Smiley

Well done for P2 in the Cooper, Rob, and, of course, hearty congratulations on being our S32 Works Champion.  Consummate skill always.

P3 to Tris in the race and the championship tables.  Buddy, if it's that important to you to run me off the road, then, by all means, enjoy.  Three incidents with you in three races over five days in quite enough, thanks.

The damage sustained on Lap07 in my collision with Tris killed my engine off by a ton.  Comparing speeds in GPLRA, I lost about 10mph top end.  While I briefly held off Alain and Dean, I had to swallow the reality of the situation and wave them by.  Alain shortly fell afoul of his braking for T1 and gifted me the place right back.  Bad luck, mon ami.  I was surprised to find that I could keep Arf at a steady gap behind me.  While my straight-line speed was down considerably after the shunt, I found that I could dive into corners much deeper as a consequence and my overall lap times weren't too shabby.  Lucky to survive to claim P5.

My thanks to the organizers and the UKGPL for a fun season.

Thanks guys, I'll try to restrict myself even more next season. Took the Braby on a few occasions, and that was not nescessary. It's fun to do well in the Cooper, but I will try to be more appreciative towards the whales next season Wink I want to be more in the mix, and not nescessarily win most of the time. Runaway wins are boring, and it was great that Sam beat me last night. That humbled me, and it was a lesson to be learnt. Looking forward to have more close racing with Sam, Tris, Alain among others! Smiley

Also looking forward to the Joe Shaw Memorial Trophy!

Cheers!  Smiley

Yes guys, the Joe Shaw Memorial Trophy 2018 will be here soon.

I am contemplating which circuits we will use this time. Something fun and challenging is the plan.

Good race on a not easy track .... Sorry Dony , I'have been surprising by your braking point who was more early than usual , try to avoid you ...it was successfull but but,.... it seem ( on my reaplay) that it was a GPL bug who make the contact !!...it was not OF COURSE in my intention to toutch you.....as we can see on the reaplay the contact is not on the rear of the car but on the side, and the frame before contact, my car is 1.5m far from yours...next frame is contact !....anyways I know you will complains so let the Moderators juged it ....

Well done Sam and Rob for championship

Sorry for the delay in completing the moderations for Season 32. Final report now published. Robert is officially champion, a solid second place for Andreas & Tristan 3rd in the overall standings.
