Not a great race but a good result and recovery drive from dead last after spinning lap1 and lap2 at Moss. First lap I had to brake hard as half the track was blocked but I bottomed out and spun. Lap 2 was all my own fault as I did it again. Made a few passes to get back to 2nd (Ams) and Jack was gracious in giving me room a few times.

Had a couple more spins on my own, one when I was wiping sweat from my left eye and once while turning on my fan.

I was making a pass on the outside of Billy at T8 but he squeezed me into T9 and I lifted out of it. My replay shows his car jump over towards me so maybe he didn't and my PC exaggerated it. The next lap I went for the inside but came from a long way back and he took the line (fairly). I braked harder than normal to miss him and came off the brakes for the turn but my replay shows him warp off. Apologies Billy and it's up to you if you report it of course.

After I got back to 2nd it was quite a lonely race with only the excitment of being lapped and watching the gap back to 3rd.

Great win for Dave C. and I was never going to catch him.

Sorry then Dean...

Happily accepted. Do you have F10 view mapped to a wheel button, like I do? It's handy for getting your bearings when GPL's physics eventually lets you come to a rest. Click and I know what's best: quick half-spin, get off track and turned around, or just stay where I am for a few seconds.

ETA: very entertaining replay. Some great racing, some ... not so great. Glad I'm not moderating it.  Roll Eyes

Dean - can you please make your point without the expletives (****....). Those are the ground rules for using the forum. Moss is a really awkward place to turn a car due to the proximity of the barriers & the blind approach. Drivers will have half eye on escaping & half an eye on on following traffic. My car got flipped on lap 1 when another car moved out from a prior accident on Moss, then waited several seconds to avoid respawning in the wrong place.

"...just knocked out of the lead (of possibly his first pro win. yes, there's a bit of venting here, forgive me)..."

Read that bit again, thanks, person responsible for the fracas in question.  Roll Eyes

The server replay shows Billy's Braham as unable to make forward progress until just before you get pushed sideways by my car.  Had our cars been unimpeded by each other the corner would have been clear before you arrived.

Also, the revs on the server replay claim that I am in first gear attempting to make room on the inside by moving alongside the barrier, after which I switch to reverse without returning to the power- though what I experienced was the interlocked cars being flung apart before our collision.

You had done nothing wrong and were simply unlucky that my car finished up where it did.

On hindsight I should have moved earlier. Instead I opted to hold & give Jack time to complete his manoeuvre. Best intentions & all but probably just made matters worse. I will time a report for the I initial contact.

Spent the hot and unexpectedly sunny hours of yesterday at Mosport, spectating the 2018 VARAC Vintage Grand Prix. Featured this year were the Formula 5000 cars, a series that started in 1968, so the 50th anniversary celebration. Honorary Grand Marshal was Brian Redman.

Partial pic dump available here https://imgur.com/a/oL9eu0E (some F5000 cars, couple of others, but mostly poor views of action at corners 4, 5A and 5B ). Forgive the poor view: it was hot and very sunny, found a shady spot and just ... stayed there for a while.

The day's action came to an end early, unfortunately: http://torontosun.com/news/provincial/illinois-race-car-driver-61-dead-following-crash-on-bowmanville-ont-track.

Plan for next time at Mosport: forget the paddock, just roll around checking out the spectator rides. Example: when was the last time you saw six Daimler SP250s in one day*? Not all together, either. Just random.  Cheesy

*edit: just checked, and that's out of 2654 ever made
