Season 33 - 65 - Round 3 - Mosport

Welcome to the 3rd round of the combined 65s championship.

For the first season we use the new 65 token system for your car choice,
so please read the rules and car ranking on the championship standings page

Mosport held its first major race in 1961, when Stirling Moss, who won, suggested changes to the proposed hairpin, which then became the two corners called Moss in his honour. The first ever Canadian Grand Prix was held at Mosport in 1967 and was won by Jack Brabham.  The circuit was used again in 1969 in a race won by Jackie Ickx.  Jackie Stewart crashed out after tangling with a back marker, the privateer Al Pease, who was being lapped for the fourth time at only half distance.  At the end of the race, Al Pease was disqualified and to this day remains the only driver to be disqualified for being too slow.

The rules and driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

We race in intermediate mode.

- Pro driver have no shift+r available
- Intermediates and Amateurs have a single shift+r with a stop and go in the pits available!

Only reported incidents will be moderated, there is no Red Zone.

Tokens updated in race post.  Sorry for the late posting, I've been busy.  Good luck tonight, hopefully the token count doesn't come as a total surprise to anyone.

I had a good start and lead to Moss, but I was a bit to careful at breaking point I think, that has the consequence that Tris was surprised and hit me in the barriers. Grande casino followed - great impressions from burning but racing cars ...
Nice battle follows until Signore Molteni hit me on the straight when i was passing  Sad
My car was out of balance I hit the barriers for the third and last time but could reach the pits on three wheels where I finished much to early Sad

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

Tris after this race you now have 5 tokens. So that means you will have 15 tokens to spend on a car for the next round at Monza 10K. So the best you can have is a BRM. If you do take the BRM you will have zero tokens left. So that would mean you would have to take the Cooper or BT7 for Syracuse.

If you want to confirm the token calculation, please check the spreadsheet via the link in my previous post.

Got caught up twice by other cars going through Moss. The first lap incident required a stop & go. I spent several laps chasing Jack but found it difficult to find a passing opportunity. I tried to be careful not to do what I did & tap him from behind from the entrance to Moss. This was the worst outcome as Jack had to negotiate a 3 point turn in a very awkward place. On the replay I saw that Dean came unstuck trying to pass Jack who was doing a commendable job of trying to get out of the way. I waited for Jack to recover which left me well down the order. The second half of the race was more measured - keeping ahead of teammate DC so he didnt lap me & trying to close on Phil. I got rather close on the last lap when my wheel parted company with the desk top. Another bad race but clocked my fasted race lap in a Brabham - so not a total disater.

Mind if I disagree? Jack tagged me by backing up blind into traffic  Shocked, which you can hear approaching even if GPL doesn't let you see, robbing me of the only clear piece of track. I'd slowed enough and was through when I hear his engine rev and *nudge* oh yeah I'm ****ing sideways. If there is clear track, the following traffic is going to aim for it. You steal it, the responsibility is yours, not the guy you just knocked out of the lead (of possibly his first pro win. yes, there's a bit of venting here, forgive me).

In that situation, don't make a bad scene worse. If you can't move safely, don't move.

Grats Clive, good recovery Tris. You had me plenty worried for the last 2/3 distance, especially when the gap got sliced.

lol I'm leading both 65 and 67 championships, still haven't won a race in either

Sorry then Dean, you have a better appreciation of the situation than I have and I was unable to save the replay.

After the collision I was entangled with Billy and facing backwards for some time, however when the cars parted I was then broadside on.  I was late to reverse out of that situation, if there was contact with a car once I began to reverse, rather than be spun around by the after effect of the collision then the responsibility is entirely mine.
