Made a good start and got up to Riccardo on the first lap, but thereafter a poor race from me - made too many mistakes, and hit too many kerbs, gradually dropping back down the field again. Still enjoyed it immensely however..

Congrats Riccardo!

I know people who still win hillclimbs with them, a bunch of my friends went to do the FIA masters event
at Gubbio (Italy) a few weeks ago. One of them was running a road going 205GTi

I have a well modified 106 S1 Rallye myself.

First time on the RRE version of Nordschleife, some subtle differences from the GTL versions, some bits faster & some slower. Took a few laps practice to adjust & still have one or two sections where there is still room for improvement, but on the whole quite happy with my 7.10 laptimes.

Race was good fun although I was a sitting duck on the fast sections unless I had opened up a big enough gap through the twisty bits. Had the potential to catch the Opel's of Riccardo & Manteos, but every time I got within 3-4s of them I made a silly mistake & lost it all again & eventually got caught by Eck & Pete. Eck got by me twice before losing control at the approach to the Karussell & on the final lap a couple of small mistakes allowed Pete to get close enough to waft past along the Dottinger Hohe, so I had to settle for 5th.

Congrats to the Italian contingent on the podium  clap clap clap & congrats to Riccardo on winning the championship. I Am Not Worthy

I notice the Italians all went for the Opel. I like that one, is relatively easy to drive.
Shame I missed this one, I enjoy the masochism of the Ring, requires some discipline
to do more than one lap  Grin

I know now, why I beat the Mustang drivers round the 'Schleife in the past. Its a dog, in the second half of the race. I didn't help myself, taking too little fuel, again. Still, great race with Pete (mostly) and Geoff, I got in the way in the twisties (again, especially in the second half) and out dragged them in the fastest bits. Wasn't even close, to the Italian crew (all of whom, joined us on TS. Again gents, great to hear you, as well as race with you).

Grats, yet again, to Ricardo. Another trophy for the (virtual) mantel'.

And thanks again, to SROUK for another great championship.
