I remember an NSU race from sometime back where I was going to run out of fuel so I pitted with a couple of laps left to get some. I sped in the pitlane and got a drive through. I didn't get DQ'ed having served that drive through on the next lap. Did people get DQ'ed as they completed their pitstops or because they didn't server the drive through in a timely manner?

However, one thing that has just occurred to me - do you have to switch off the engine when you refuel?

I didn't last night & it must have refuelled the car because I only started with enough for 20 laps.

I got notification of being disqualified as I drove down the pitlane. I was able to complete my stop, but then got immediately thrown out of the race as I exited the pitlane. No drive-through, or any option to serve some other penalty as far as I could tell.

Ah ok, thanks.

did you have the ignition and starter mapped to buttons or on automatic? This may have an effect

I think I have them mapped, but will have to check.  Huh

It may be that if they are not mapped the game automatically takes care of starting/stopping the engine ? (I un-mapped mine so that if I skid off during a race I don't waste time restarting the car)

Eck got DQ for pitting before the pit window was open I think.

Indeed, stupid me.

I didn't pay full attention to the pit time message (I may well have gotten a little perturbed, between it and the end of the lap, too  Embarrassed). Thought, I'm getting out of this mess. Entered pit with Mark telling me, very calmly, its not open for three minutes... "oh joy" or similar, might have crossed my harried mind, just as the game reported I'd pitted too early and I been dq'd. I proceeded to leave in, much less than the "minute and, a huff" Groucho Marx mentioned.

So this enforced pitstop window appears to be a disaster then. You should still be able to pit outside the window and should only be DQ'ed if you didn't pit in the window. Also where did the drive trough penalties go for speeding, no real world series will give you an immediate DQ for speeding.

Absolute madness

I did some testing on the server last night:

1. You CAN pit before the window opens (but you would still need to carry out a pitstop during the official window)

2. The pitlane speed limit is 60kph, if you travel between 60 & 100 kph you get a drive through penalty

3. if you travel over 100 kph you get disqualified

I suspect the people that got disqualified probably braked late on pit entry and didn't get their speed down before the start of the pitlane.

I introduced the pitstops to make the races more exciting and a bit tactical, now that we have a better understanding of the procedure I can write some instructions for future races. I would like to continue using pitstops for some of the races, but if the majority don't want them then I will stop using them. I think it would be good to at least try one more race with pitstops. What does everyone else think?

Thanks for spending time on testing Stephen. However, I was pretty sure I didn't enter the pits too fast, and didn't exceed 100kph, yet still got an instant DQ. I guess it's likely I am mistaken, but I will check my race replay and see if I can work out what was going on.

What does everyone else think?

Now that I know to map a button for the limiter, and assuming I can get the procedure down properly, I'd be happy to give it another try.

Yep, thanks for doing the testing SRW.

Like Frex, I am happy to give it another try as long as we all know how it works & what to do & what not to do. I thought before the race it was just me that didn't know how pitstops worked!  Tongue
