Enjoyed the Heavy Iron races a lot. R1 was really enjoyable because we had very close racing at the back. Misnoimis and myself had a good race going for almost the first half of the race and always had Tony or Kurt in my rear view also. Finally the tires went away I would guess on his GTO and I got him passed cleanly going over the hump into T1,T2,T3 area were the Falcon seemed to be better than the GTO. Problem was the GTO was faster down the straight so took awhile for me to get him in a close position to overtake him. Then Erhling joined us after a off I guess and he and Misnoimis battled behind me so had a chance to pull away from them guys. Then Erling won that battle and closed rapidly on me and he chased me until he had a off in the T1,2,3 area in his GTO. Was making the Falcon as wide as possible and useing all the track to hold him off. Maybe his car was wounded also because I'm not in his league as far as talent goes. In the closing laps I started closing on Roger in his Falcon which he was conserving fuel on and he conked out on the last turn before the S/F straight. If you wouldn't have been so far off track I would have pushed you to the S/F..... R2 was a disaster for me. I had lost all focus on racing, even though I was in the GT500 which was one of my favorite rides in the old Muscle Car League. Got crossed up early on the S/F hump and went into the tire barrier and the suspension was messed up for the duration of the race. All in all good fun for me and I hope you guys enjoyed it also. Someone made a comment that the 60's cars were just as fast as the 70's. The reason for that is that almost all the cars were originally in the old GC MCl and were set up to be just that, competative with each other overall but some faster but the slower ones handled a little better or were easier on tires or such. Only the 66 Chevy Impala is not of that group, one that Tony found, but in my tests it was fast, but handled like a big old 66 Chevy Impala, I know we had one back in the day and it was a nice ride but was a true Yank Tank, squealing the tires if you went around a corner just a little too fast Ours had a 327 V8 not the 427 motor.I think it will be my choice for the ovals, just for grins. Geez I really rattled on, see you next week.....
Good Fun Bob M.

I quite enjoyed my race on Wednesday. After my problems at Goodwood last week anything was going to be enjoyable. My keyboard and mouse was intermittently working and not working. I’m now convinced that my setup wasn’t loaded for a start. And also it turned out that I wasn’t refuelling properly. I obviously wasn’t paying attention but realised the problem later in the race when I noticed I was running out of fuel and just wasn’t able to refuel at all. After the race I changed the batteries, checked the connections, dusted the receiver but no joy. For some reason I decided to wash the receiver with a damp cloth although doing this didn’t seem to make any sense. Miracle of miracles it worked. As it was working I decided not to even breathe on it again and was able to race with no problems this Wednesday. I had not really done any practice other than learning the track. I started the evening practice with the default set up having picked a car at random. Made a slight change and went with it. I had some good racing with Bob. I think I held him up at times as I had some trouble in some of the bends. I think he was right about my tyres. I think the edge went off their performance slightly later in the race. I noticed the tyre wear was quite considerable. I had some racing with others. A pity Kurt’s G25 failed or we might have had some fun. Although I was the slowest driver I was happy that I spent the entire race on the tarmac (just) which was encouraging so I will try to make more races this year. Grats to winner and podiums and all and thanks to Tony for the American Heavy Iron Series.

I should have realised there was another race from your post that said Race One. Oh, and thanks also to Bob then. At the end of Race One I noticed a post in the Chat about changing cars for Race Two. I posted “Sorry, not able to make Race 2” but I guess it wasn’t noticed. I had arranged one of my very rare visits to my local (five minutes’ walk down the road) to sample a pint of their Draught Guinness. Sorry about Race Two, I think it’s called a Senior Moment.
