Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Note early race start time.

Great! but as you have not run GTL with us before, I would strongly suggest that you join our online practice session to check for any problems. I will not be able to help you on race night.

Well that was a fun but hard race. This is one of those tracks where you think 'I can do that bit faster' but when you try it always ends in tears. So the race was a case of reining in ones enthusiasm & resisting the urge to go that bit faster.

Erling had clearly got the car working really well in qually & was nearly a second faster than me, so after I grabbed the lead at the start it was no surprise that he was soon on my bumper & took the lead into Tarzan at the beginning of lap 3. He quickly built his lead & I was sure he would soon be out of sight, however I got into a good rhythm & was able to limit his gains to around a couple of tenths a lap. By half distance though he was 5s ahead & barring a mistake there was no chance of catching him.
But then the gap started to come down, I was still lapping about the same pace so I guessed that Erling had overworked the tyres & was slowing up. Crucial moment came about 5 laps from the end when I ran a little wide out of the final turn & lost over half a second, it may have been the difference between 1st & 2nd but catching is one thing, getting past is another. So in the end there was just 0.3s between us. Phew. sweatdrop

Congrats to Erling on a great drive under pressure & also to Matt in 3rd.  clap clap

Normally look forward to Procar races, as I do love the car, but not this one. Really dislike this version of Zandvoort. Can't seem to get any sense of flow here. Almost every corner has a blind entry, so you have to do it on memory - if you wait till you can actually see the flow of the track, it's too late.  Add to that curbs which are poison, throwing the car off balance if you hit them.

Chuffed with a new pb in qual, as that was difficult to obtain.  Despite numerous practice starts, I still bogged down at the start, handing Geoffers the lead. Stayed close, and with some slipstreaming an opportunity presented itself into T1 on lap 3, allowing me to grab the lead. Tried hard to build a gap over those early laps where I seemed to be quicker - fully expected Geoffers to bounce back later in the race. He copes better with tyre wear, or maybe his driving and/or setup isn't as hard on the tyres as mine.

Mid-race the gap was 5 secs, but I lost a little time lapping a car in a non-optimum place, dropping the gap to under 4 secs.  Never able to regain that time; in fact the gap continued to drop from then on, getting down to nothing at the end. Very hard drive, with a car increasingly reluctant to cornering and braking, but I still had to go as fast as I absolutely could. A couple of times I went too deep into T1, braking too late on the worn tyres.  Only kept the car on the tarmac through sheer willpower, but losing time in the process.  Worried that Geoffers would slipstream past on the final bit of the final lap, when the gap was all but gone, so relieved when it didn't happen.   Grats to Geoffers on 2nd & Matt in 3rd
