Season 33 Extra – Round 8 –  Silverstone

Season 33 Extra will be an unofficial championship of 8 races over the next few weeks using the original 1967 mod. The final round will be at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix. The championship battle is finely poised between Pelle & Jonny O. The win for Pelle at Mexico closed the gap to 1 point.

No registration required & the series is open to all comers.

This will be run as mixed grid. There is a free choice of chassis, although Pro drivers should not take the Lotus or the Eagle. Points will be scored according to the traditional method of 9 for 1st, 6 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th & 1 for 6th.

Have fun, but please observe GPL rules & driving standards.

All drivers are permitted unlimited Shift R’s, but each reset must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within 2 laps. Failure to take a Stop & Go will result in a Disqualification. If you require a Stop & Go on the final lap & are unable to complete a time penalty of 15 secs is added.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Ran into other peoples accients twice. Hit Escape instead of shift R the second time.
Good to see a full grid. Looks like there was some good sport to be had.

Unlucky Bill, I was hoping to have a battle with you. I had top take avoiding action a couple of times too Sad. Didn't make much difference, I made plenty of mistakes of my own. Good to see a full grid. Grats to Fran, I tried to stay with you but I was on my limit. A mistake was always likely.

Thank you Phil. You have touched my rear wheel but from the replay seem a warp. After this i have had the usual engine failure. laugh
I don't understand if is my gear change or bad luck.
Anyway is beautifull to start with a full grid ,also if many pilots are too strong for me.

Well, that was exciting, Qualified in 9th close to the time I expected. Arf went off at T1 and came back across the track hittng me hard and launching me into low Earth Orbit. Took off at the exit of T1, landed close to the entry of T2 minus several important parts such as front wheels etc. Couldn't SH-r until the whole field had gone past. Took the mandatory S&G at the end of the 1st lap and rejoined a long way adrift of the rest of the field. Slowly made ground on the rear of the field and had some great battles as I began to make my way through the pack, Pepe allowed me through (Twice) as I made a complete mess of it 1st time and lost it at the next corner. Upset the handling a bit as well. Had some great duels with Fran and Arf later in the race. Spent a good few laps trying to eat into the gap to Clive until he had a nightmare lap and I went from 500yds behind to 150yds. Then he lost it exiting Abbey and I was finally through. Arf came back at me later in the race, a battle momentarily interrupted as we allowed Pelle through Then Arf disappeared from my mirrors and I was very much alone with Bastian a long way ahead and a recovering Clive a similar distance behind and that was how it stayed until the flag.

A really enjoyble race in the end but my wife thought I was going to have a heart attack during the T1 incident.

I was very pleased to look and see that I have the best lap this weekend of silverstone, I know this is far from the world record but we had some really fast guys this weekend.
my race was exciting in the first 10 laps, trying to keep ahead of Pelle, but I can not go at this pace for every race, it's a very strong pace for me, a few laps maybe, but not all the time.
I love Silverstone, it was a track where I could walk well in the times that I used to play on the keyboard, my style always fits well with 90º curves, a technique that comes from the keyboard.
in the last years with my steering wheel drivingforce GT my times have really improved but much of the style and technique of the keyboard still influences the virtues and defects.
Seeing the full grid is always exciting in this 20 year game, I invited my friend Ricardo Silva, I think he liked it a lot.
Finally Pelle passed me after an oversight on turn 1 and left, opening 0.5s on average around, a great Champion!

Grats Jonny & GT thumbup2

Qual:
Never built a fast qual setup & far from my Silver PB in Ferrari:1:26.421...couldn't do anything against Jonny today Shocked

Race:
Trying in a small attempt to get past Jonny before T1, no luck. Choosing to put pressure, but also to watch the tyretemp, especially rear & this was where I think Jonny got a problem, it seemed like you had to fight & you began to lose confidence to your setup. Around lap 9, the little mistake I have been waiting for & I can go by Tongue
Great to see how many we were today & thanks for making room thumbup1

Before the race, totally crazy to see points...so close, everything could happen.
Too bad to see Axel after a really nice race at Hocken & Spa go down in Mexico & now Silverstone Huh
@Bill: You're not the only one to hit ESC, I've done it both GTL & GPL...awful feeling Sad

Thank you all for this: Season 33 Extra clap
