Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not required

Server: simracing.org WEDNESDAY
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Just in case you may have missed this important point regarding Race 2.

The winner and 2nd place driver from Race 1 will not take part in qualy for Race 2. But if they want to practice in the qualy session that's fine, just don't set a time.

Thank you for the heads up Tony, but I do not expect this rule will have any effect on my evening's fun...... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes In these cars I can only dream of a podium finish lol.

I did a few laps yesterday to check car/server were OK and spent more time exploring the grass banks than I did on that tarmac stuff!! These little buzz boxes certainly have some poke!!  wacko

Just did a few more laps...marginally better as I completed 2 laps before diving off the circuit  Undecided

But I am after some advice. the car appears to suddenly lose direction under braking and squirts off the track, to the left or right. This does not happen at all corners, or even at the same corners on different laps??  But when it does there is no catching the slide and we usually end up on the wrong side of the berms.

I have the Brake balance well forward at 63/37 and at 96%, which seems to be the right way to go with these front wheel drive boxes, so it should not be the rears locking up and throwing teddy out of the pram.

A little baffled  Huh

Thanks Tony. That was way more front bias than I thought would be necessary, but it definitely helps...provided that I am careful with the brake pressure. I have also started the setup from scratch again and reduced the rear roll bar, plus played with the diff in an attempt to protect the front left tyre, which seems to have its own internal heat source!!

Best laps thus far are just slipping under 62secs, but far from consistent  Undecided. I suspect that the resident aliens will be sub 60 secs in qually………..and probably just as fast in race trim.  Sad

No reason why you shouldn't reduce the brake pressure to suit your liking.

With these FWD buzz boxes you need the front quite soft & the rear quite firm, helps the car turn better, but you will need to set the brake bias even more forward to stop it going out of control, try 76/24 to start with & adjust to suit yourself.

Not quite under 1m yet Clive, could be with low fuel in qually.

Thanks for the tips. I usually know my way around Minis but this thing drove like a 6,000,000 HP rocket with an oil tanker's rudder.
Gonna give it a go and report back.

Edit:
Oh yeah. 1.01.0 with room for improvement.

Can I get setup tips every race?  Grin

I think I need to get back to my race PC and try some of this stuff lol  eek

I think I had stiffened the front to get more response, but I still had terrible understeer  Undecided 76/24 sounds so outrageous that I would never have dreamed of trying anything so wild ??

On my previous attempts I could tell that I was losing bucketfuls of time at every corner, because I just could not get a) the car to brake under control b) the damned thing to turn in with any certainty and c) I could not get on the power until I had it straightened up!!! all in all so very frustrating  Huh

Due to unexpected circumstances I will not be with you guys tonight.  Sad
This is not going to have any impact on the final result anyway  Grin as I was prepared to be lapped many times during the race
I will try to remember the setup advice for next time though  thumbup1 (nothing to loose anyway)

Have a nice evening!

Race 2 was a disaster as early on I went over a berm and rejoined the race several laps down. One to forget.
