AFAIK nothing has changed on the server.

Do you get this problem on Wednesday nights or is it just on Mondays.

I have always run with LAN and I doubt that drivers have suddenly all changed their settings.

I suspect that the problem only occurs on Mondays and this could be due to the connection to Brazil causing a lag.

If drivers can be online before qualy starts this shouldn't be a huge problem.

It is not only you getting this problem. When I join the game on Mondays it takes a while to load all of the drivers online.

Regarding Kurt's post; I'll change to ISDN, just to see if it makes any difference. Maybe it's me causing the lag  Huh

As far as my experience is concerned....
The "freeze" happens on Mondays and on Wednesdays.

It started a couple of weeks ago,  before that time I had no issues at all when drivers joined. Their name would appear at the top of the screen along with the usual "Hi" messages, but it had no impact upon my progress.  I think the first time that I noticed it was at either a KAD Mini race or a New Zealand triple event a couple of weeks back, but it now happens with all races  and all cars. If I happen to be on the practice server, I also get the same effect if someone else drops in whilst I am trundling around.

It occurs for EVERY driver joining the server after I am connected. I know that Tony always joins just after quali starts and that a freeze is going to happen early in the quali session. I am happy to wait until Tony is installed before I light the afterburners for a pole position lap, that would not be a problem, but no-one can predict when someone else might arrive on the server.
In a normal qualli session I can simply "abort" a spoiled lap and wind up for another attempt, but it is a bit harsh when we have single lap qualification and I know that I am going to be handicapped by 2+ secs Undecided. ( at least it gives me an excuse for not being fastest!! lol )

Thus far there is no impact when a driver leaves the server, but I guess that is a different process.

From my viewpoint, Osni has a rock solid presence on the server during racing and qualification and I see no warp etc, so I doubt that my problems are linked to Brazilian Internet connections. If Osni joins the server whilst I am there, I get exactly the same freeze on video but with the clock still running that everyone else initiates.

I am somewhat concerned now that you state that it happens all the time (Mon and Wed) in GTL.

Tonight I will be using ISDN as my Data Rate thingy. Lets see what happens and then try to resolve.

I noticed the same thing Clive about people joining while I was on track.  I also wait until Tony has joined us before I do the Qualify thing, not that it makes much difference on were I will start and less were I will finish.  See you all later........

To drivers experiencing the "Clive" effect............

Please note what your "Load New Cars" setting is. It can be either 1) Safe speed (car joins when your driving slowly, 2) Garage Only (car joins when your next in the garage, or 3) Always (car joins immediately).

Load New Cars can be found under Options/Multiplayer/Top of page.

Hi  first lap Clive`s slight mistake let me pass then Salesman`s off let me pass him, tried to keep up with Geoffers and Osni then start of Third lap Osni disappeared after that Geoffers kept extending his lead and Clive started to gain on me, later Clive disappeared, end of race was surprised to pass Geoffers and expected him to resume the lead.
Sorry to see Osni disappear as you and Geoffers were over a second faster than me.
S.Cargo no problems when you passed me.

Grats to Geoffers and Tony on Podium

Tony my connection is ISDN and load new cars in garage only.

I've had the 'Clive effect', but only in the F3 Monday races.  Didn't do last Wednesday's races though, so may have missed it there.  My connection is set to 'Cable/DSL' and has been for years I believe. It seems to sit between ISDN & LAN.  'Load new cars' is set to 'Garage only'.
