I spent an hour or more online finding out the cars that were useable by trial and error, could have saved my time and practiced. I didn’t realise how few skins there were for the cars in the original program. In case I have some missing I will transfer the downloaded folder to my GTL PC. That runs windows XP Pro, a bit out of date but the old programs run fine on it. I can’t connect to simracing.org on it now as the Browsers no longer support XP.

Hope to see you on line tomorrow. sweatdrop

I use Firefox on a XP pc, all works fine.
Ciao

I was also using Firefox. After a recent automatic update it was a problem, I had videos with no sound, some sites would freeze up or go slow. Firefox said it was not supporting XP any longer.

I have installed again an earlier version of Firefox supposed to work with XP but still have problems so I uninstalled it and tried Explorer and Opera. They work OK but won’t connect me to some sites one of which is simracing.org as they say they can’t provide a secure connection. I only get this problem with XP. If yours still works then it could be down to another problem with my system I guess.

Sometime I have too problems with video, usually they works again after a Flash update. Also Firefox say that this site isn't secure, as all without a certificate even on https, but the forum works fine.

I have to apologize to Dominick for hit him at T2 L1. On braking point I had pressed the wrong pedal and nothing happened cause it was the clutch pedal... I should be banned for life for this...
I had waited for you, but I couldn't see you car. Only later I saw you on the standing.
Anyway I had a nice race trying to catch Bob in his Pantera and only toward the end I could pass him in trouble with tires I think, but at last lap I had a misunderstanding on what was going on ahead at T2 and spun loosing the position hardly conquered. A fair punishment for L1 crash.

Had hoped experience with all the add-on cars and fiddling with setups, might finally let me tame the Pantera.  Not so; still as temperamental as I've always found it.  Capri is another popular car; very fast in the right hands, but I've never been able to make it sing.  Didn't even try it and soon found myself in my trusty 906.

Untouchable laptimes by Ziu & Geoffers in qual, so 3rd was the best I could achieve.  Shrugged of Clive's advances through Eau Rouge and kept 3rd. My luck that he went onto the right shoulder down the straight - otherwise he would surely have outdragged me.   On L2, Geoffers & Ziu tangled, and I picked my way through the smoke and splintered tail lights, with Clive in tow.  Wondered how long he could hold up Ziu ?  Not long at all it turned out !!  The Quisling apparently waved him through - no brown envelope this week Mr. Evil !!

Ziu soon had caught up.  Dilemma between handing him my position, or holding him up, risking a repeat of last week's race.  Problem solved when I unintentionally ran wide at Les Combes, letting him past.  Next lap he went off at Blanchimont, handing me back the lead.  He got close on the following lap, but not close enough to attempt a pass.  After this, he gradually fell behind.  Tyres shot already ?

With 4 laps to go, I had a 7-sec lead and was already popping the Champagne.  One lap later the pit board gave me a shock !!  I had lost 1.5 secs in one lap  Shocked   Gap now 5.5 secs with 3 laps left.  Hadn't seen Geoffers since lap 2/3 and had blissfully forgotten about him.  However, he was very much alive and on a mission !!   Gap down to 3.7 secs a lap later, and only 2. something when the final lap started.  Only just stayed ahead, to finish a mere 0.599 sec ahead.  One more lap and I would have been toast  sweatdrop

Grats to Geoffers & Ziu for filling the podium !!

After a small amount of deliberation decided on the Capri for this race, always liked driving it but had not done so for a long time. Was quite surprised by my qually lap time, hadn't got anywhere near that previously, but Ziu was consistently faster so was expecting 2nd to be my potential best finishing position.

Held my position at the start & surprisingly kept up with Ziu on the opening lap & a half & when he went a bit wide entering Stavelot  I saw an opening, unfortunately I just under steered into Ziu's right rear corner & spun him around, Roll Eyes sorry Ziu. While I waited Erling & Clive shot past before Ziu rejoined & we both set off to hunt down the leading duo. Caught Clive a couple of laps later & took 3rd when he spun at the Busstop, Erling & Ziu were about 4s ahead but I ran wide at Pouhon & lost 6-7s a lap later & waved byebye to my chances of catching them so I thought.

However I soon started to catch Ziu quite quickly so I guess he had a problem & when I did catch him he waved me by. Erling was now about 8s ahead with around 5 laps to go. Gained around 1.5s a lap but ran out of time & Erling took the flag by 0.6s.

Congrats to Erling & Ziu.  clap clap

For my second race back last week after a long layoff from GTL I raced on a track I don’t remember seeing before with very little practice and starting the evening with the default setup. I was happy under the circumstances with the way it went. The same story this week only I had raced on this track before so was expecting things to go a bit better.

It was pretty obvious straight away that I was way off the pace and my setup tweaks during practice did nothing to improve the situation.

I started the race cautiously but was falling behind the back markers more and more as each lap passed so decided to try to find more speed but the car seemed a bit sluggish and wanted to drift wide on corners. I tried to get more speed onto the main straight by going a bit faster on the uphill section before the straight but glanced the barrier on the left which caused the car to drift across the track and hit the right side barrier. After that the handling felt decidedly wrong. My times weren’t much slower but it was even less fun to drive so I thought I would pit. It took about half a day to find my pit spot. As I had feared I had suspension damage. It took the crew another half a day to repair the car. I would liked to have changed the setup but there is no way to do this during a pit stop.

I decided there was no way the car would go faster with me driving it and there seemed no point in me practicing for a quicker time and possibly getting mixed up in other people’s battels so I stayed in the pits and watched the end of the race. I saw some good battles and it looked like a lot of fun.

Grats to all, winner and podiums. clap

Decent race for me in the Pantera which can be a nasty old girl to drive sometimes.  I kindof put my self in a endurance type mind frame for this one.  Just drove the track as good as possible without being too hard on the rubber.  During offline practice I ran a few half races with 2 times the tire wear in the PLR file so knew how the car reacted to wear.  Get the rears hot and they turn to slime real fast.  Had cars around me most of the time and gave Fulvio a hard time a little but mostly stuck to my plan.  Sorry about your spin and off on towards the last Bud,  after you worked so hard to pass me earlier......Fun series Tony driving cars we very seldom get to use!  Think just for grins I will try the Vette next, haven't driven that boat forever.  See you all at Don.. in the beastly Beemers.

Glad you all seemed to enjoy that little bit of GTL nostalgia. Certainly made me think fondly of my first outings in sim-racing when I was a newbie at MARA. Happy days  yes
