Fortunately I had copied my general GTL install onto a memory stick and I have that reloaded. But I cannot seem to log in to the lobby? Password etc all functions but I seem to recall that the address was changed recently?? Or maybe I am mistaken?

Very sorry to hear about your unscheduled reinstall, Clive Sad

This is the content of the LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT file in the main GTL folder:

gtl-server.net

Maybe you have an older file in your saved copy ?

Clive, you no longer need LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT. Delete it.

Thank you Tony.  Smiley

One more prob, (which I think someone else raised on the forum a month or two back, but I cannot find that topic).
I have checked through the files, and the upcoming Heavy Iron cars are all loaded and oddly the Heartland and Toban tracks are now both showing in the "Locations" folder and both with 4 circuit options.

I can access the game and select open practice, or race, but whichever car I select from the garage I always find that I am in the "68 1275 Mini", which just happens to be the first car on my list?

Are you running GTL in compatability mode? https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=14823.msg269549#msg269549

Compatability set for Win 7  Undecided Am I to understand that I should NOT have ticked the box for compatability?

Try unticking and see if GTL works or not i.e. you get the car you want. If GTL fails try setting compatability to Vista or Windows 8 and test again.

I have tried compatibility with Win 7 and Win 8.
Each allows GTL to start and I can navigate to the circuit selection and car selection.

The car selection appears quite normal and any selected car will appear in the small window, but when I move to the action and the pits...I am sitting in a 68 1275 Mini  Undecided

Yep, I had the same thing, I also had endless trouble trying to get it to see the right server.
One of the things I did in deperation was to install from Steam, and that just worked.

Have you tried uninstalling the cars you don't need for this season Clive, maybe something is causing a clash.

I did wonder about that Geoff, and I was thinking back to the last time it all worked OK. Especially as I had that rogue Mini that Fulvio appeared to be driving at Zolder last Wednesday. I have already deleted the DB4  and the 250 GTO and replaced them with new downloads from the race post.......but that had no effect on the problem. I might delete all 4 cars for that series this evening.

Also thinking about the American Heavy Metal download and install??? which is the only other addition that I have made since the end of last season. Especially as this all started with the Toban/Heartland circuit mix-up . (Goodwood was on a separate install, so that can be disregarded.)

I guess my computer ineptitude is legendary by now  Roll Eyes, but if I manually delete all of the cars for the Heavy Metal series... and the tracks that came in the download pack, and then do a fresh install from Tony's download, am I right in thinking that it should cure any issues in that area?

Hopefully yes.

Or, you could uninstall all add-on cars & tracks, (use the uninstallers provided by the SROUK installers where necessary) just leaving the default cars & tracks, it doesn't take that long. Also worth deleting all the the .hat files in the UserData/LOG/HAT folder too just in case. Check then if GTL works OK. If so then install the new stuff one by one checking each time that GTL still works.

And check that you don't have a LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT file lurking IN ANY GTL install.

You can use Windows Explorer to do a search for it.

I have looked for the
LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT
but cannot find any evidence of it anywhere.

Just tried the Xmas Goodwood install which I had recovered from the HDD, just wondering if that would work and shed some light on what is happening. That fires up and gives me the 4 cars which I can switch around. But, I still cannot access the lobby from that install?
My normal username and the password ( represented by a row of stars) are automatically shown, but when I click the "join" arrow to go to lobby I get an "error" message? This is the same result as in my normal GTL install with the Mini infestation.

I might try Matt's suggestion of a complete fresh install, hopefully get that working as a bare GTL and joining the lobby.  Then load the Heavy Metal stuff onto that and try to access the lobby again.

I am kind of confused/perturbed that the lobby access is apparently screwed as that is about the only thing that I ever got right first time lol, and it has been unchanged and faultless until now?  Just had a thought...would the Firewall be blocking lobby access as it is a new Win 10 install??
