Please not for this race - I've spent about 3 hours on the current setup and it'll be worthless if you change the temps...

It's true that rear tyres tends to overheat easily on this car, but they're still manageable. I don't know which setup are you using Mark, but if you are on that of Siebert I must tell you that tyre pressure of that setup were completely wrong.

I mostly agree with Jeffrey about default setup. I changed only the front ARB (+1 click) and tyre pressures to it. During the lap I adjust the TC to a value of 6 on the Cooper straight and then I put it down to 4 on the pilgrims drop and for the rest of the track. That's my little dirty secret Cheesy

Hope to be on time for the race tomorrow. See you chaps Smiley

Very first time in slicks cars i see that softs is not working in this temperatures... For example , in this conditions in GT3 cars , soft can have better lap times in SPA. I am sure- this car softs will not  Smiley

I agree with this, we provide a practice server so people can practice the race conditions. We can change the temperatures for future races though.

Mind you as I've not actually driven a single lap in this car yet a radical change like this would help me out  Roll Eyes

For future races I wouldn't mind some randomness in the weather. Have the computer randomly pick a temperature within a certain window.
I'm not a fan of unlimited practice to get everything perfectly prepared, it's not realistic IMO and it makes things too predictable.

Okay, agree too late to change the temps now, just dont complain if you cook your rear tyres  Wink sliding them about really heats them up so adjust your setup accordingly, be that extra wing or a stiffer front/softer rear to reduce oversteer. If you overcook them in a spin you will need to take it easy for half a lap after to let them cool back down otherwise you will spin again and get the hump and leave.  Kiss
I found these cars are running too high camber as well, albeit that helps with the knife edge handling, but does generate a lot of heat in the tyre too.

Im a fan of random weather too, but if i run anything other than mid-clear i get complaints  wacko  I'd quite like a moody grey cloudy sky at somewhere like Brands.

That's what I like about these cars, adds an extra dimension.

That's because you always go for those annoying sunsets  Wink.

I prefer sunny as that makes the game looks best, but as long as it's 14:00, I don't mind some clouds Tongue. It's more the variation in temperature that is interesting, not really how it looks IMO.

Heavy overcast + the rift is horrible.
My offline practice race in the 962's for Silverstone was heavy overcast to make it more believable.
I found it increadibly hard to spot corners when everything is grey and I have low res to spot it though...

I'm with Jeff on the variable temps and grip though, my practice runs for the 962 had a variable track surface and really added a dimension to the races.
Especially as there would often be a random corner with extra low grip thrown in to really make you work  Grin

First of all, I should read more carefully the race announcement  Grin

I avoided to make an attempt on soft during the qualif. session, but I guess I'd never get closer with that compund to Jeffrey. If you add that I spent ten precious minutes to make a phone call to say happy birthday to my aunt, all in all the third place was not so bad.

I managed immediately to take the 2nd position at the first corner with a scary braking side by side at the first turn with nfsw. Than I tried to keep Jeff's pace and I was quite successfull until that damned spin at lap 7 or 8. For a question of luck I was not caught by nfsw and fmg and I found myself on the right direction to go on trying a desperate comeback for a podium place. I did a slow lap to cool down the temps, and than, lap after lap, tenth by tenth, I managed to rejoin the battle for the podium.
I had only 10 minutes to make a final assault, but after a couple of laps, nfsw had a spin and crashed into the wall, so I regained the third place. Last laps were really immersive trying to put some pressure on fmg in the middle of some lapped drivers battles that were all extremely fair in letting us pass  Wink

With only 4 corners to the checkered flag fmg went slightly wide on the grass at the 'Westfield' and I had a last chance to put my car side by side taking the inside at the 'Dingle Dell' completing the overtake that granted me the 2nd position.

I must say that I'm pretty happy for my comeback.

Hat off to Jeff for his race. Well done fmg and nfsw.

See you Smiley

well, that was an eventful first round  Shocked

Will start by saying the grid of cars looked fantastic with some lovely paintjobs on display  Cool

Qually went very well for me, tried softs for the first time and on my first flying lap did a 1:26:1  Shocked which put me 2nd for ages. My runs after that were near abouts but even with a 1:25.9 I could only bag 4th.  Great pace by the 3 ahead. So I was pretty chuffed with a high qually spot. Smiley

Race start went well and cleanly until given a nudge by the green Lotus at Graham hill to get him past. He then continued to blatantly block from side to side for the rest of the lap until nerfing me off at Clearways (after he'd already been fully off on the grass and should have conceded). Roll Eyes  I lost several places but steamed on and retook several places. I then closed right up on shark for a couple of laps but he had a moment on the exit of clearways with me right up his chuff, and just the slightest jink of my steering sent me into a silly weird spin  taz I got damaged on the Armco and I had to wait for the whole field to go by  Cry
Now I had it all to do but good pace, so I picked my way back up the entire group upto Alexey in 6th  Shocked and with 6mins to go I got past him at Surtees and had my early antagonist shark just 4-5 secs up the road! I thought 'I can do this'  ninja though my rear tyres were now seriously worn. But whilst closing him down with a few laps remaining the racing gods once again spat in my beer as a rejoining back marker side-swiped me at hawthorns at full chat  gun_bandana and I was sent into a massive spin, though without hitting anything. But I lost my hard earned 6th to Alexey and now no chance of catching Shark  Cry  plus my rears were now bright red  Roll Eyes

Somehow I caught Alexey again and we had our second photo finish in two races  Shocked :

Loved the racing at my home track and the cars but the 3 separate incidents, none of my own mistake, destroyed my chance of a top 5 finish.  Undecided

Well done to Jeff on a strong win and the two podium finishers  thumbup1 plus thanks to all who raced to make it a good event. Smiley

Any contacts or wrong doings please report via the incident moderation board. detective
