If you hit the tyre barriers, you are stuck.

Rally cross event!
Congrats podiums, especially Jeff ! Grip style is rules!  Wink
Unlucky races for me. In first i am slightly hit Stefan,  than wait for him at last position. Sorry Stefan.
In second race i was pumped by guy and drive with severe damaged car. Not sure that rally cross is best in AC  Grin
My favorite rally is Codemasters Great Dirt Rally game!  Smiley
PS I saw in my vid that this cars has strange contacts behavieur . Very small contact ( 4 points) will cause full car disbalance and go to grass... Undecided

Good first two races on a tricky unforgiving track  Smiley

Turned up not feeling great last night with eye strain from work (always good when about to use a Rift!) but determined not to miss the opening rounds. My practise runs were decent but in qually i completely sucked and struggled to get anywhere near my normal pace. Seeing those ahead get minimum 1:49's, i knew i couldnt get any higher than 'best of the rest' anyway, but i was lucky not to get jumped by someone else putting in a good lap.

Race 1 got a decent start and went side by side with Fabri for half a lap before conceding the tight right at top of the hill. Adrenalin hadnt kicked in yet so i didnt put up a fight despite having the inside line Tongue
Nobody really challenged from behind so i just chased him hard for 20 minutes but he gradually pulled away. Finished 6th with less close action than i had expected. Undecided

Race 2, started mid pack and the action was hot from the start to finish! The 2nd race went in a blink of an eye  Shocked
Think i had a fight or chase with everyone from 7th downward. It was great seeing 3-5 cars line abreast dicing through the turns    Alas after fighting with Pete and fmg, i got by Pete (just) albeit getting a tap that unsettled the car then just as i regained it, i got a second heftier thump from fmg that put me into the tyre wall  taz (prob couldnt avoid my slightly out of shape rear end) so had to rejoin from the back of the field with a crumpled Alfa. But it was great fun fighting my way back up the field and watching other fights ahead. The Rift proved its worth once more when i was able to pick my way through the battles and especially enjoyed getting cleanly past two cars in one corner  Grin
Finally finished 7th.

Grid looked tasty and vintage  Cool Well done all that raced, not an easy opener track but looked good clean racing from my cockpit. Congrats to the podium  thumbup1

Got rammed off into the barriers towards the end of lap 1, I don't have the pace to catch the field up
after scrabbling about to get going again so quit in disgust.

Matt you should report the incident so the offender can be punished (if its clear cut or wasnt un-avoidable). I've said often enough that we shouldnt be having lap 1 contacts when you have the whole race to get past someone.

Not sure who's fault it was to be honest, could be me being ignorant, though it didn't feel that way.
I will check the replay and put in a report later.

Well, that was an absolute blast of an opener!
I'm still grinning from the opening lap of Race 1 with Matteo, even though I'd even planned for it I'm kind of gutted he fell off as that was effectively the end of any proper fight for me that race.
That said both Jeffrey and Matteo maintained a high enough pace to mean that I couldn't dare back off or make a mistake, so the entire 20 minutes was still very hard work for me.

Race 2 got off to a much worse start though - Just past the end of the pit lane barrier Jeffrey swerved into me and put me nose first into the barriers.
It's only after the race when I saw the replay that I realised he'd been hit by a blue car I couldn't see.
After this I burnt the white flag to save weight and drove at my absolute hardest, slowly picking off one or two cars a lap for maybe the first 4 laps. Eventually I reached MJ battling another car just after I had passed Fabri.
Their battle had caused a bit of a gap up ahead but was also serving nicely to block the road for me as I didn't dare dive up in/outside either while they were fighting so hard.
They conspired to help me out on about the 2nd lap I was behind when they contacted into Park. This fired MJ left across the grass pretty sideways and looked near certain to spin the other driver into the in-field - So as I already had a better exit from the corner than them I went up the middle Grin
This is where it then got a little messy, as the car I thought was going to spin somehow caught their spin and swerved a bit towards me (I was now almost completely between the drivers by this point) so I jumped a meter or so left to avoid being clobbered.
Unfortunately MJ was returning from the grass under full chat at this point and caught my car. With dirty tires the outcome was pretty certain.
Sorry about that, I had originally intended to go down the middle leaving room for both of you - the avoiding action put paid to that!
The strange thing is that the replay shows me avoiding the other car and contact only occurring between MJ and myself - yet at the time I was convinced due to the force feedback I'd received a bump from the right as well.

After this I managed to make some good ground on Jeffrey who was now only 1 car ahead and struggling a bit. I think he was stuck behind Kai, who I also had a job to get by a lap or 2 later when I caught him.
Once clear and in 3rd I really put my head down - and recorded a new PB that was slightly quicker than my qually effort. But just couldn't catch Jeffrey or Matteo due to their respective pace.

Very good hard and clean racing I thought, although Kai needs to check where his opponents are before moving to block.
Possibly a mistake - but I have one very strong memory of having to swerve and back off to avoid pit-manoeuvring him into a wall, as i was already alongside when he decided to move over.

Anyway, I've also thrown a pair of videos together from race 1.
1st is this opening 2 laps - I've set the camera to watch Fabri as this captures most of the field, most of the time Cool

https://youtu.be/TgtizHstCaY

Then there is the first lap from Race 1, showing how hard Matteo and I were having to work to try and out-do each other! While Jeffrey sat back and waited for us to do something stupid Cheesy

Nice vids FMG,  Smiley looks tidy close racing from all  Cool  Do you mind if i use one on the kunos site to showcase the racing?

ps i dont think i was rejoining from the grass when you clumped me  Wink i got a light hit off Pete as we both entered the tight right side by side which gave me a wobble on the corner exit but then a solid thump off you to send me stage left (but i havent seen the replay yet). angel Racing incident anyway.  Kiss

You must have have been fired left pretty convincingly - I wouldn't have even considered that move at that part of the track otherwise!

As for the videos, feel free - if it gains us more drivers for the classic/historic series then all the better Grin
