Grats to David who has become the silent assassin  Wink He has won a couple of races by being very consistent and quick, maybe a little like Alain Prost, the Professeur??

Well done David to take the Cooper to a win on a track that should have favoured the winged cars  I Am Not Worthy

I enjoyed the race in the wingless Lotus 49, which was awesomely quick on the straights, but a real handful in any corner.  After a great start and a slipstream on the first lap I was up to 3rd and tucked in behind Axel and Tim. I had someone in a Matra (?) chasing me hard and as a result I overcooked the Ostkurve on lap 3 and hit the barriers quite firmly. This did nothing to improve the handling, but it did not limit the top speed and I was able to slowly creep back up through the field. Something had been re-arranged when I hit the barriers and braking became a little bit of lottery, and that caught me out a couple of times when I ran wide entering the stadium.
A few of the leaders exploded their engines and I was glad that I had over geared my Lotus 49 to protect my whizzy bits, upshifting at 9000rpm as an extra  safeguard. Even so, I was still seeing almost 200mph with a little slipstream, approaching the Ostkurve, but getting the darned car to slow down and negotiate the corner was an adventure on every lap.
I apologise to Ronnie for appearing to block him on the last lap, I was actually trying to command the inside line for the entry into the stadium. But I knew that Ronnie was close and I did not want to risk contact. Sorry if it looked like I was hogging the middle line.

The contact at the Stadium entry was probably as much me braking early to get the car turned in as it was Ronnie not seeing his brake marker, so a racing incident for me?. I was relieved that I still had 3 wheels and a car was the right way up, so I scraped my way to the line and only just held onto 4th place as Bastian was gaining far too quickly  Shocked

not if he stops in the pitlane and crosses the line afterwards

Yes, the rules say it must be taken in the stalls but on the last lap it is not possible. Technically, a time penalty is due but Ronnie made a best attempt to comply so to penalise him I think would be unfair. If it was done mid-race to save time that's different.

I recall Mr Schumacher at Silverstone escaping a penalty as he had to serve it within 3 laps but the race finished and he finished in the pit lane.

It's a very flattering comparison.
Just after yesterday's race, I feel like I imagine Peter Gethin was after Monza 1971  Smiley
or Vittorio Brambilla (Austria 1975)

Tristan or Robert (Fleurke) can be compared to Alain Prost ... but surely not me !

It was Phil.
Very funny choice!
Congratulations, Phil ! Maybe you have the new world record for Hockenheim in Cooper 1969, did you check it ?

It's the second best time in Hockenheim with the T86B !
Just had a look now. I was only 1.701 seconds slower than the WR time, so actually not a bad result for me. Everyone, apart from 2 of us, posted a fastest lap that was better than the T86B WR time. So I did pick a bit of a mule, but I do have 27 tokens to carry forward to the next round Grin.

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

But I must admit, I'd rather have 50 points than 27 tokens  Wink

Not trying to be funny,  but shouldn't us lowly ams have aother 10 tokens?

The series outline states:
Quote
Drivers will be allocated 10 tokens at the start of the season with a further 10 tokens for each race they start
<snip!>

Drivers who are classed as "Amateurs" will be given additional tokens.  This will take the form of 20 additional tokens at the start of the season.
<snip!>

So, that's 10 + 20 to start the season,  with an additional 10 per event as normal...?

This is compared to the 66-series blurb, which does state 10 tokens to start, with additional 10 for ams...
Quote
Drivers will be allocated 10 tokens at the start of the season with a further 10 tokens for each race they start (including their first race).
<snip!>

Drivers who are classed as "Amateurs" will be given additional tokens.  This will take the form of 10 additional tokens at the start of the season.
<snip!>

So should there be another 10 tokens in store for ams?

Phil - would put you a bit closer to 50 tokens Smiley

Cheers,
Dave.

Tuff race whith the BRM  exept when I can profit of the slipstream....then I can rejoin the lead but have to go out of track in the break phase to not hit Dave at the end of the straight line ...and loose contact to the lead....I can recover again and finish on the podium....Smiley

Bravo Dave super victory !.

thx all and org.

Yes, slipstreaming makes a lot of difference on this track. I had a good tussle with Bastian for a few laps, but once I had finally got out of slipstreaming range, he fell back noticeably.  And then he passed me a few 100 metres from the finish line, as I crashed! Cheesy

Congrats Dave! I'm not surprised by the win. You often show great consistency.

It's a shame I missed it. It looks like Tim and Clive may be thinking similar to me. I hope to use the 49 and 49b for the season, pretending that I'm Graham Hill.
