Grats John, great drive.  Didn't see you put a foot wrong.  Well not wrong enough!  ;-)

With 7 to go I was just begining to think that I should not chance anything and take the points for second when I made a slight mistake at Tarzan.  That gave John a five second cushion and let him cruise to the finish.

An acceptable start to the season.  Especially with Evil being back in the pack.  ;-)

I'm sure all will change when the tight fisted so-and-so starts to spend some dollars!

Thanks Clive. A totally unexpected win. Alessandro was in a class of his own qualifying over a second ahead of the rest of the field and had he not decided to explore the surrounding sand dunes early on I'm sure would have won this one easily. Had a suprisingly clean race, twice I tried to throw it all away , once getting very sideways in Scheivlak when it seemed certain I wasn't going to get it back and again when for some reason unknown to me I decided that after 25 laps of taking  the right hander between Tunnel Oost and Panoramabocht in 4th I changed into 3rd. Fortunately both times Clive was too far back to take advantage but that Connaught certainly is no slouch.

Thanks Guys, A blast as always.

Grats to John, Clive and Fulvio.

A little miffed that Mr Loynes has discovered the charms of the Connaught  Undecided.  I campaigned with it through most races last season and it is an acquired taste, but the car can be made to perform quite nicely. I was hoping that this secret pocket rocket would stay that way.
I thought that this season I might try the Gordini for a few races and see if I could squeeze some points out of it. I was helped by the small grid for this race, but handicapped by the useless gearbox and getting the damned thing moving off the grid.
As a result, I was in last place going into Tarzan on lap 1. Zandvoort  has only one real overtaking place, at Tarzan, and for me in the Gordini I had to be in the slipstream of faster cars to even have a chance of progressing.

It soon became apparent that the pace amongst the regulars had improved since last year, and my hopes of stealing points in the Gordini were soon dispelled. I might have saved some dollars, but it cost me valuable points.  Undecided

I should offer apologies to our new member Rich, who was mercilessly hassled by me during last night's race as I tried to make up ground from early mistakes. Also to Alessandro, (I was pushing Fran for a passing opportunity and it was clear that his Vanwall mirrors had fogged up when I had to take to the grass a couple of times to avoid contact),
I had not expected anyone to make passing move at that point and was entirely focused on sticking close to Fran for a tow down the straight, when a wheel appeared on my left  Shocked....too late to leave room, and on the limit of adhesion and directional control in the Gordini ended in a tangle.

I haven't seen any posts on the subject Fran.

Well done for getting the Vanwall to the finish.  Hopefully with the right number of gears?

Well done to Rich on getting to the finish in his first 55 race.

I believe there is some condition on the release of the 55 mod that prevents any addition or modification for "x" months after release? and this includes the insertion of a virtual mirror. I would assume that this period has expired by now and somewhere there should be a mirror patch available....but I have not seen one  Undecided

Is this because you are using "Letter Box" mode?

I have just looked at my replay in letter box mode and only the top half of each mirror can be seen.  If you run in full screen then all the mirrors can be seen top to bottom.

When Evil was dodging about behind you in the early laps, all that was visible to you was his head.

No is because the mirrors of the Vanwall are very little.

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.
