At first I have to say thank you Lasse for bringing all this stuff together. And thanks for all the fair and clean races, this is real gentleman racing.
The whole seaon was ups and downs for me. I hadn`t raced for quite a few years when the season started, but Monza went quite well. The first hillclimb was bad, wrong car, not enough practice. The first race Salzburg was ok, but in the second race (Div3) I had a too aggressive setup, which led to a mistake so I had no chance to fight against Geoffers (who made only very few mistakes the whole season
)
Budapest was ok for me, made no mistakes and was quite fast. But Brno was not good. I cared too much for tires while Geoffers pulled away. I thought my time will come, but that was not the case, bad strategy. In Silverstone the second race was quite interesting, Geoffers and I were in the small class of Div 3, and I had no chance to follow his Alfa in my Escort. Nürburgring I had to pass, the second Hillclimb went better than the first, the fast sweeps were really fun. But then followed the worst race: Spa. I was in a comfortable lead when my concentration faded slowy away and I missed one breaking point and flew off the track. No chance to make anything. I was really disappointed.
I missed the Zandvoort races and came back with the third hillclimb. I did not lead any of the 4 championships. But I changed my attitude. I put more focus on the races, practiced the starts and when working on setups safety and driveability was more important than speed. And it seems to have worked out: I gained maximum points after that. But the best race was clearly Riverside with Geoffers. Even if I hadn`t won it would have been the best race.
Grats to Geoffers, Nappe, Nocatu, Salesman and all the pother great drivers, it was a pleasure to race with you.
In the next time my Mondays are blocked, so enjoy French F3!
