NoGrip Legacy TC-70 Championship.

Description:
Online racing series of 23 Races (15 Events) consisting short twin races, normal races, Hill Climbs and Endurance races. Race calendar follows loosely ETCC 1970 calendar with few extras thrown in here and there. Car selection consists cars that raced in 1970 with some non-existing ones replaced with close match. All cars (except Division 3, over 2000cc class) have physics calibrated to run against each other. Carpack contains whopping 32 new skins designed for this championships. The Classification system is the same as it was in 1970 ETCC by having three Divisions and each having 2 classes. The biggest difference is in race calendar as in 1970 all divisions and classes ran all the races, but as the expected racer count could not fullfill all the classes in every race, Events have been optimized so that mostly there's only one Division running at the track same time.

Races will be held on mondays (race calendar below) with one exception race being in Saturday. Race start time is usually around 20:30 GMT/BST. Exact race time and qualifying session start time will be stated in each race invitation.

Car Rules:
  • No limit on how many times you can use each car.
  • Every start in new class scores 3 extra points, so 18 points available by just driving cars in every class!

Points system:
  • Starting in class that driver has not yet started: 3 points. (as stated above.)
  • Fastest guy in DIVISION: 1 point.
  • Points per CLASS by position:
    • 1st:   9 points
    • 2nd:   8 points
    • 3rd:   7 points
    • 4th:   5 points
    • 5th:   4 points
    • 6th:   3 points
    • 7th:   2 points
    • 8th:   1 point
  • Note that position points are given by CLASS position. So at least 2 drivers will score 9 points as there's 2 classes per Division.

Four different champions:
  • Division 1 champion
  • Division 2 champion
  • Division 3 champion
  • Overall Champion

Special Notes:
  • Each race invitation will have notes about allowed classes and also how it is going to be scored. System won't change, but as the points system is pretty close to original 70's ETCC system, it might be a bit hard to follow.
  • The time based races are really time based as I found way to organize real time based races. This means that when the race starts, clock starts counting down and when the time is up, race will be checkered flagged. Smiley (Thanks Geoffers helping to find this loophole in GT Legends. Smiley )
  • The Nurburgring will really be 500kms race. As the distance is beyond anything ran so far at least in nogrip endurances, Everyone will get chance to drive what ever car seems to fit / like best. Hopefully we'll see big grid enough to use all 6 engine classes. I might put some sort of registration for this one, so that no one would end up driving alone in class. Race will take around 3 and half hours, so preparation highly recommended. Also use of second driver is allowed, but only one of the drivers will score points.
  • I will try to organize few test races before season start. Those will be announced as usual with Race Invitations in this thread.

Downloads:

EDIT: added list of Hillman / Sunbeam skins that have correct 1970's physics and so are allowed in season.
EDIT2: modified the points system due bigger racer count than expected. Smiley Now 8 best drivers per class gets points.
EDIT3: added car pack update, which will be in use from Silverstone onwards.
EDIT4: schedule updated. due time constrains I had to move the St. Ursanne Hillclimb 2 to later date. It would been quite lot to have four runs in same evening anyways.

That looks great !

Unfortunately I wont be available for the races on my hometrack (Nürburgring 500km)  Sad and for the St Ursanne Hillclimb
event due to my holidays.

For all races I'm prepared to post the result sheets if you send me the needed files.

Looking forward to this series.

Nürburgring 500km, that must be the VLN version then. That's 25 km. That's 20 laps.
*giggles uncontrollably*

Serious consideration: shouldn't that be run with damage off? There's a realistic possibility no one would make the finish otherwise.

Note to 2019: Categorically NO heatwaves allowed this year. (Well, except for the current February one that is).

Actually,  it will be Motorfx's 1970 Nords with small patch allowing race to run more than 3 hours. And lap count will be 21 laps. I have test ran it online already so that it works. (It was rather boring thing to do alone.)

I am considering easier flag rules to prevent dqs due accidental cut tracks, which is a bit unrealistic in endurance in any case,  but damage should most likely stay on.

Test Race Event
11th of March, 2019

Three test races in Original GTL Hockenheim tracks. Possibility to everyone drive at least 3 different classes cars before season really fires up. Free Practice is set to everyone having chance to change car to new class after each race.

Server info:
- Server Name: NoGrip Legacy TC Server
- Password: tc4ever

1st Race
Track: Hockenheim Short
Allowed Classes: Division 1 (under 850cc and 850 - 999cc)
Qualifying: 15 minutes, starts at 20:15 GMT.
Race: Length 7 laps, starts at approx. 20:30  GMT.

2nd Race
Track: Hockenheim National
Allowed Classes: Division 2 (1000 - 1299cc and 1300 - 1599cc)
Free Practice: 5 minutes, starts after race 1 ends.
Qualifying: 15 minutes.
Race: Length 7 laps.

3rd Race
Track: Hockenheim GP
Allowed Classes: Division 3 (1600 - 2000cc and over 2000cc)
Free Practice: 5 minutes, starts after race 2 ends.
Qualifying: 15 minutes.
Race: Length 7 laps.

Notes
- I added skin information to car list in the first post. Hillman mod has several different physics mapped to different skins and in game it is hard to recognize which are the 1970's ones. Also the server will feature only the cars used in championship, so you can't join with skin that is not allowed.

I double checked everything last night and we're set to go. I will start the server about an hour before the first qualifying will start.

Yep, ABB lobby. Smiley I Don't know if the steam release lobby is still up. Basically I have not been there at all. Perhaps once by mistake. Smiley

Thanks for organising the test races Nappe, all seemed to go well. I think once drivers get more acquainted with the cars the racing will be closer. Would be great to see a full grid of these cars but those days are long gone in GTL I'm sorry to say, still hopefully we can get around a dozen drivers for most races.  thumbup1

Thanks for organising the last nights event Nappe, it was my longest evening's driving for a long time. In the last race my tiredness showed up and I just couldn't get the corners right so I quit.

Good fun yesterday.  In R1 I wasn't competetive in the Abarth 850 so brought up the rear.  R2 was better in the IZZY,  had a very good finish thanks to others spins and offs.  R3 would have been fun I'm sure in the Escort, but I had to leave early to pick up the wife from her Bridge card club, hen party.  We here in the USA  went into daylight savings time so was a hour later than normal against you guys's time.     hope we pick up some more drivers, and I'm sure we will.  Thanks to Nappe, excellent cars and didn't need much tweaking for me to drive them right out of the garage......

yeah, the season has been designed so that around 10-15 drivers would show up in each race. More does not hurt, the system works up to full grid, but it has been made so that smaller grids work as well. Smiley Quite few guys that were interested about the championship were still missing so most likely we'll going to have around 10-12 drivers per race.
I surprised about how close the cars worked as I planned in test races. They seem to represent pretty much exactly the idea I have in my mind.  Server worked nicely, not much of lag... Mike had troubles but his connection was unstable last night so it was in his end.

everything looks excellent for the series. Smiley

I was baffled to realize in the evening that I actually was 2nd overall and won my class in Race 2. If not counting Hill climb events, it has been a years since that happened previously. Not to mention that I did it in RWD car, which has never happened before. I also did enjoy driving the Bellett. It's a bit unstable with cold tires, so I lost some time in the beginning, but after the tyres warm up, it sticks to the pavement quite nicely. It is possible that I'll drive more Division 2 events with Isuzu than I originally planned.

You're welcome. Thanks for joining. Smiley I am trying to make the non-endurance events take about 1 hour and half, qualifying included. As Finland is +2 GMT / BST, it's 10:30pm here already when the race starts so It is rather late when they end. Luckily there's nowadays an hour later train connection to Kouvola, so I won't be having wake up at 6:05 next morning. Smiley

Great to see you being around. Smiley
Daylight saving time thingy will get fixed when the europe soon moves the clocks as well. Smiley
Hopefully we'll have some great battles in this season. I recall us having some in previous championships.
