This race has been a disaster.First i chose the Ferrari but no one gear worked, exit from the game and chose the Matra with an improvised setup.During the qualification one engine exploded and one block of the PC.Into the race one engine after 5 laps and another at lap 10.
So to finish I had to dispose 5 engines.Very disappointed.

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

Late switch of track but the setup I had for Assen just needed the gears lowered a little.

Had a CTD in qually but got back on and managed Pole (Ams).

Great track with some tricky sections and I had a couple of grassy moments and a touch with Phil as he tried a pass in his flying red thing. I led the Ams all the way but the red things got close a couple of times as I was trying to look after the engine and keep it tidy.

I took the Matra to save some tokens and it behaved itself for the most part. It sounds horrible with headphones though and I kept thinking the engine was going to let go but luckily it held on.

The white flags are very popular here, I got one every lap.

If the Matra engine sounds bad, then try the BRM!! More like a bag of spanners in a spin drier  scared One gets the feeling that if the engine explodes it will take you and 50% of the spectators with it.

It is a long time since I have driven the Beast of Bourne but I found an old setup and tweaked the gears for V.I.R. Strangely it felt faster and more driveable with full tanks and (despite having an extra 7 galls on board ) I set my fastest qually time on race fuel, but when I tried a low fuel run I was a second slower???
It did seem a little ironic that I should go off so soon in the race as I was tailing Tris in the other BRM. Tim and Axel in the Ferraris had a little extra pace over the BRM's and slowly pulled away. After my excursion I had to pass a couple of cars before I could begin to chase down Tris, but lap by lap the gap was reducing, until I got on the gas a fraction too soon and provoked a spin, undoing all the hard work  Undecided
I set off again and once again closed in on Tris in his BRM. Tim was miles ahead and Axel was out of sight too and only a big mistake or blow up would allow me to catch them. But Tris was now in my sights and only around 200mtrs ahead with around 6 laps to go.
Just when I felt that Tris and myself were going to have a battle to the flag, his engine exploded ( miraculously no spectators were injured!! )and I had a free pass into 3rd place and a cruise to the flag.
Grats to Tim and Axel whose Fezzas were just a little too quick for the heavy BRM's and thanks to all those who were lapped and made things easy  Wink

Just watched the replay. Must say a big SORRY to Tim! Towards the end he was coming behind me, but I did not realize that its the leader. There where no blue flags, so I thought it was Uli for position. I gave no room and he had to go over the grass. I lost the road myself.  Hit with a wet fish Could have been the end of our Race. Luckily not.
Gratulations to the Podium and all Finishers!

I have never turned a wheel here before, so with running a 4WD chassis, a 10th place start and 9th place finish was pretty much all I could expect.  I had tested the Lotus, Matra and McLaren, before deciding on the latter. I lost it only once during the race, at the Rollercoaster, with a 180 degree spin that cost me in excess of 20 seconds to get going again.  In the last 10 laps, I appeared to be catching Rainier, but could never get closer than about 200 yards. Muttram had already lapped me once, but on the last lap, with me concentrating on trying to catch Rainier, I was unaware just how close he was to lapping me again.  On T3, I rode the dirt and almost span out, just as Muttram was about to lap me.  Thank God I didn't lose it, as I might have taken him out!

I'm getting myself tied up in knots about the amount of coins I can spend / have available. To confirm, I am an Amateur, so (assuming I start the first five races) I have 10 + 20 + a further 10 for starting each race.  So for race 1, I would have 40 points available, minus my chassis (17) leaving 23, and so on.  However, on the points table after every race I appear to have 10 points less.

I should be able to spend 130 points in total, correct?

If the Matra engine sounds bad, then try the BRM!!

In 1969, Matra used a V8 Cosworth (like all other teams except Ferrari and BRM... and Cooper with Maserati V12)
The V12 Matra engine appears in 1970 (That was the reason J. Stewart didn't stay in this team).

I did wonder if that is what happened, but was too pre-occupied trying to figure out if Uli was indeed in a Cooper as I suspected!
That was some handy peddling to keep it so far up the field for the entire race!

My race went rather well, qualifying wasn't as good as I'd have liked - I only beat Axel to pole curtesy of catching the draft from Tris.
That sounds fairly normal for the 69's, but I then very nearly equalled the lap at the end of the race without a tow Shocked

Congrats to Axel and Clive for the podium spots, and to all finishers - thanks to the back markers too, on the whole I didn't have any troubles Cheesy

GRATS Tim, Axel and Evil and all finishers
For Assen I was prepared seriously but that was impossible for VIR after your „last minute change“.
Nice track, good choice, only to late announced Sad
To finish here with much to much fuel on board (what depends on the short half an hour preparation), with a strange, never driven before car, on a strange track never driven before too, I was very happy with my lucky fourth, after a long distance fight with Andreas until the finish line. Unexpected fun Smiley
